List of Saurabh Patel's Reviews
I have been getting Eylea treatment with Dr. Patel for macular degeneration. He is a careful provider with an experienced staff. He keeps his people and they are a team. Dr. Patel is a pleasant man he does a good job explaining the science of the treatment.
I would have left a better review for Dr Patel, but his office staff was just awful. Rude, impatient, and dismissive. My husband needed additional surgery and instead decided against Dr Patel for his subsequent surgery because of the office staff, notably Dr Patel's nurse. She should not be in this line of work and it's important that Dr Patel know that his nurse is forcing patients away.
Shouldn't an eye doctor make eye contact? Or at least introduce himself? This is my first visit to the office and the doctor, so I'll hold off on an in-depth review until my next appointment. I will say that - after five minutes in the waiting room - I'm beginning to believe there's something to Feng Shui. The front door of the office leads directly to a bathroom, and - judging from the energy levels of the reception and accounting staff - the "chi" must be surging in the door and directly down the toilet. The cure could be simply keeping the door to the bathroom closed. But what do I know? Dr. Patel's medical assistants were knowledgeable, cheerful, and gentle, all qualities that I especially appreciate where my eyes are concerned. Thank you!
Dr. Patel , and his staff are extremely professional. He performed Detached Retina Surgery on me and laser surgery...and I have had no problems since then. I have recommended two others to visit him and they too are very pleased. He is awesome and I will not visit anyone else for my eyes. Dr. Patel told me ....he was the BEST, and I now know that's true!! I feel lucky to have found him!
1/2/2020 - FAILED VITRECTOMY. I was referred to Dr. Patel for a Vitrectomy in 2019. As a precondition, recommended by Patel, I had cataract surgery and his thousand dollar laser treatment to prevent retinal tears during his surgery. I went into the surgery with 20/400 sight in the subject eye, came out with 20/400 ... and still have 20/400 sight many, many months later. My sight never improved, is permanently fuzzy and wavy and my night sight is worse than before the Vitrectomy. Patel has no real explanation for this failed surgery and schedules follow up visits many months later, telling me my sight will improve with time .... It hasn't. I am so sorry I started down this path. I had a total of four surgeries/ procedures, all for nothing.
This office is like a factory. Not personal at all. Feel like cattle being moved from the waiting room to an exam room to another waiting room to another exam room. Dr Patel is ok. Very knowledgeable, but again not personable. He seems to just be talking to air, no eye contact and no personalization in his discussion or demeanor. I would suggest going elsewhere if your insurance allows you too. That's our big problem this is the only place we could go in all of Southwest FL.
Dr Patel performed a vitrectomy on me when all other Drs told me to live with my dense floaters. When the bandages came off yesterday, I saw the clearest I have seen in years. I can play tennis again after almost giving it up. I can't say enough about Dr Patel and his staff. His office is so busy because he is so good.
Dr. Patel is very knowledgeable in eye retina issues. He and his team are very thorough, friendly. Beautiful office. State of the art. I live in North Carolina and fly to Naples for my eye care. I highly recommend him!
Yesterday 7/3/18, I was having symptoms in my right eye. My Opthomologist thought it might be a tear in my retina and referred me to Dr. Patel. I called the office and spoke with a not very pleasant receptionist and then the nurse, who told me that if I was willing to forgo my insurance and pay $195, the doctor would see me that afternoon. I can't believe that a doctor would stoop to the level of demanding a cash payment before addressing a potentially serious visual problem in a patient
Dr Patel diagnosed and treated a serious eye condition that was previously considered untreatable by another Dr in the area. He is a highly skilled physician in his field.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
