Dr. Chausow has poor personality, no empathy, not a compassionate man for his patients. I was his patient recently after receiving a surgery when I being Hospitalize after a surgery done by a different doctor. He said means things and harsh words without realizing it hurts someone feeling! outrageous unacceptable. We are talking about our loves one I don't know how he was raised up by when he grew up but it need to change. Very sad to say especially when you're In a highly respected field and your goal is to help people and Learn how to speak to your patients or go find different major.

My mom has cancer and checked into El Camino Hospital ER for weakness. Her blood pressure was very low and they put her on Levophed (NORepinephrine) to increase it. Due to that life-sustaining medication she needed to remain in ICU where Alan Chausow was the doctor. Even though she was completely lucid and happy to be with family doctor Chausow came to her room and told us all that there was no chance of her getting better so we should pull that medication off and let her die so she wouldn't be taking up an ICU room. No one in my family could believe what this guy said. How could a doctor be so callus and insensitive? (My mom has two forms of insurance so getting there money is in no way an issue.) This scared my mom and she begged us not to leave her alone as she was convinced he would turn off her Levophed (which is given by IV drip, controlled by a pump which regulates the rate of administration.) He came back multiple times to try to get us to allow him to stop the medication. I took him aside and told him my mom was not a piece of garbage to be discarded but a very special woman that does not wish to hasten the inevitable but savor what she has left and we were going to fight for what she wants since it is her life and her choice. (Again, this is a lucid person that has a strong will to live and keeps communicating this to us and doctors.) Shouldn't a person that is in this situation be afforded compassion and sensitivity by medical professionals? To make her feel scared she was going to be terminated and discarded at this point in her life is, to me, unconscionable. My advise to anyone is beware of this empathy-lacking individual and hospital!!
