List of Barbara Phelps-Sandall's Reviews
Although I showed up late a few minutes for my first time with her, the front desk still generously gave me time to fill out paper work and so forth. On top of that, although I didn't finish my paperwork until like 25 min into my "appointment", Dr Barbara Phelps-Sandall had still seen me for the full hour to answer all of my questions and/or concerns!! I was actually referred to her by one of my clients at my work, so since I finally just got health insurance recently, I'm very happy Dr Phelps-Sandall is within my network.
I have been seeing Dr Phelps-Sandall for years. She has been my "rock" and go-to-person for many different medical advise. I have been under care during my young and active years, and she followed me and advised during my menopause as well. She cares about my well-being as a whole person, not just "my private" areas. We have talked about genetics, cancer, food disorders, mental health, GI issues, sexual concerns, family planning, exercise and menopause with patience, care and full interest on my well-being.
Disappointed by having to wait for over 1h minutes for a 10am appointment, no explanation offered until I asked.
Doctor is the only doctor for all the patients in hospital. After making appointment, she made me wait for 70 minutes in my first visit. Second visit was expected to be normal but again I waited for 60 minutes. They don't know the meaning of punctuality. . After waiting for so long, pateint already lost the mental temperament to ask any questions regarding her situation and pain she is feeling and that she needs to discuss with doctor. Interaction was also not good. Advices given by doctor doesn't seems much relevant and useful.
I have been a patient of Dr. Phelps for years. She has guided me through my health and always made recommendations that are aligned with my personal preferences. She has a creative approach and really takes the whole person in consideration for medical advise.
If I could give a negative score here that would be the right score instead of even the 1 star I have given. If you are trying to get pregnant and struggling and needed an obgyn consultation/advice this is one doctor you want to stay away from.As if the the road to getting pregnant was not already hard for some of us she just made it a whole lot harder for my husband and me when we were consulting with her.Zero empathy ,compassion or understanding towards the patient.I wonder why I even wasted 18 months of my time with her had I switched providers I would have gotten pregnant much earlier.Fast fwd to today,I am due in May and I got pregnant within 2 months of switching my obgyn ,there was nothing wrong with my husband or me we just needed a doctor who was more patient and understanding. She treats patients like numbers defn not the doctor you want.
Dr Barbie delivered our lill angel last year. She's the absolute best. If you are stressed about pregnancy which we were, she's the solution. She's the right mix of professionalism, empathy and trust. Couldn't have asked for a better doc. She's the best!!!
Extremely unprofessional in terms of scheduling and punctuality. She seems to think a patient’s time is just not valuable - shows up late even if you take the first appointment of the morning and if your appointment is later in the day, you have to wait for at least an hour. And they cancel your appointments randomly. She’s not a bad doctor but there are several other EXCELLENT doctors who respect your time in the Bay Area. Don’t waste your time!
Doctor is a good doctor. However the sneaky way they have you sign when you get there, they are in a hurry. They tell you it is the release for payment to be given directly to the doctor. I'm disabled and have Medicare and supplement insurance, and between the two insurances they always pay in full.On 8/01/2017 I was told the doctor wouldn't give me any more refills until I saw her again. So I made this appointment was there 15-20 minutes with the doctor. They billed my Insurance for a Wellness visit and for another office long visit. Two visits in one! The insurance naturally did NOT PAY THE WELLNESS visit I did not ask for this kind of visit. The Insurances did pay the regular visit and tests.I wondered what the bill I kept getting was about? I went through all the paperwork and have been talking to the billing Company. I first tried the doctor's office no luck they sent me to the billing office. I have been back and forth with both I even sent the proof they charged me for 2 visits in the same day. NO luck the bill was for $265.00 for the wellness. The other visit was for $130.07. Plus all the other tests Now they want to discount it to $200 I can't afford this. They say I can make payments. It is not right! Charging a patient for 2 visits in one. AND MOST OF ALL NOT TELLING ME IT WAS A WELLNESS VISIT KNOWING THE INSURANCE WOULD NOT PAY FOR IT. I will call the insurance company to report this. They also have lost me as a patient.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
