List of Leland Greenwald's Reviews
My husband had Parkinson’s and we had been going to another doctor for several years who told us pretty much nothing. I made an appointment with Dr. Greenwald. He examined my husband and gave us an idea of what to expect. We had been to other doctors who said no one could have any idea of how his disease would progress. Every question I asked would be answered by, “I don’t know. He seems to be doing okay.” When we went to see Dr. Greenwald immediately I could see we were going to have a different experience. He explained the different symptoms my husband was having as they can be hard to understand. Dr. Greenwald had the guts to tell me he expected my husband would likely live for about 2 more years. As hard as that was to hear I felt I needed to know. The doctor offered to have an appointment with the family to explain anything they wanted to know. His office was always kind and wonderful to us. As it happened Dr. Greenwald was exactly right. Sadly my husband passed almost 2 years to the day of our first visit. Dr. Greenwald called to convey his condolences. I would recommend Dr. Greenwald to anyone who needs a neurologist. He is very kind and caring. In addition, the office and his nurse are also nice and caring people.
DR. GREENWALD has been our Family Neurologist Doctor for 2 decades. He’s VERY CARING (more like a family member), considerate, kind, knowledgeable, dedicated and professional! He will spend time LISTENING and EXPLAINING instead of rushing through the appointment! We are SO BLESSED to have him as our Doctor! THANK YOU DR. GREENWALD!
I was terrified and confused when I was brought by ambulance into El Camino Hospital for a possible stroke. Dr. Greenwald Introduced himself to me as "one of the good guys" yet when he was too inept to diagnose my condition (which was later diagnosed at Stanford as a legit neuro condition) wrote up his notes insinuating the only problem was that I was an angry, hysterical woman (which now sits in my files so that I had to combat that bias with every provider I saw afterward.) There are now two reviews of him here where it seems he has some kind of issue with people he dismisses as mentally ill. It is terrifying that these kind of doctors are still so pervasive in our medical system while study after study documents that women (in particular) are often misdiagnosed as being loony because of medical ignorance, arrogance, or incompetence and they don't seem to grasp that a patient can A.) Have a condition that they might not be able to diagnose but that they don't have to "blame" the patient as being the problem because their ego doesn't allow them to admit they aren't gods. B.) Have mental health issues either from the distress of a physical health issue or a psychiatric manifestation of a neurologic problem. C.) Can have a mental health issue and still deserve competent care for their physical health issues.
I made an appt. to see Dr Greenwald and was told it would be 6-8 weeks before I could see him. I said ok I'd keep that appt but would also like to see someone sooner for an immediate issue. My appt with Dr Greenwald was cancelled when I saw the other Dr. I called and requested that my appt be reinstated, which it was for several weeks later. Then 2 weeks before the appt. I was called and told I would need to reschedule since I only needed a 30 min appt due to seeing the other Dr. I said ok. THEN two weeks prior they call and tell me I need too reschedule AGAIN because he has a meeting at my time! Seriously, there are other great Dr. in this area, why put up with this behavior? That will be my question to Palo Alto medical the next time they look for donations.
Do not recommend this office to anyonelack of knowledge on the specialist, very poor diagnosis, very misleading on insurance charges, very misleading on patient charges.please do not go there,No wounder their appointment book is always has open space since whoever goes there once, they don't go the second time.
Dr. Greenwald has been my neurologist for well over 25 years. He is as close to an ideal doctor as I've ever known. Why? Because he listens, and gives clear, helpful advice, and shows a very genuine interest in my well being. With some other physicians it's been obvious that their case load was more important than their patients. Not at all so with Dr Greenwald. I've never felt rushed, and he's offered advice about medical issues outside his primary field. And he's an humble guy, too. No whiff of arrogance about him whatsoever. If there is a downside, it's that he's such a great doctor, that everyone wants to see him - including the half-dozen or so people I've referred to him - so getting a near in appointments requires some telephone gymnastics. He's seldom ever got an available appointment in the 5-month time frame visible in the UHC website.
Dr. G is following regularly a tiny CS meingioma. Hopefully, it stays that way. My visits are always productive; he's clear and willing to discuss, not push away questions. Initially, because of my stubborness, I approached my ENT MD and asked her about pulsatile tinnitus that I have; she said that she "usually recommended" an MRI. After the MRI, I made an appt with him, not quite sure where things were headed. Initially, the MRI results were not easily identifiable; yet, he pursued it, and, eventually determined that it was something that needs watching.
I began seeing Dr. Greenwald at PAMF in Mtn View a few years ago for two potential brain-related issues that concerned me. Earlier, I had seen one of the dept's other neurologists and found him totally unhelpful, brushing off my concerns. I then saw Dr. G. per another MD's recommendation, even though it's farther than the Palo Alto campus where we live. He and his team located a potentially serious issue (MRI) and he has been following it. I emailed him once, distraught over a cardiac acute mycardial infarction handled by PAMF Urgent Care and Cardiology. He assured me very genuinely that I was "in good hands." (PAMF-Palo Alto cardiologists did a great job with my diagnosis, stent PCI's and care at Stanford.) The PAMF neurology support staff is always helpful. (Sometimes, appts. take awhile to get.) Finally, he's a good listener and explains things carefully and clearly.
would not recommend. Appointment 3 months length and has a downgrade opinions that might affect patient care. He is head of department and has other important goals than patient care..
From Rodel (who is so amazing & makes you feel welcomed) at the front desk, to Pablo the medical assistant, to the man himself, Dr. Greenwald.. My experience thus far has been great... Enough to consider trying medication again...Dr Greenwald is a direct and straightforward neurologist and I really appreciate that. No BS. Highly recommended.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
