Robert S. Fan's Online Review Report Card

The front staff are getting paid to do nothing. I don't see how this office is still running. This isn't a professional setting. They never answer the phone nor communicate professionally. The doctor should really be disappointed in how his office is being run. Losing money because I just got a referral and now I'm switching to a real doctor!

The visits with Dr. Fan was full of adventures. My first appointment was rescheduled without notice. I showed up for nothing. My re-scheduled appointment was behind schedule for 1.5 hours. The consultation was rushed. I was scheduled to have a colonoscopy done in 2 weeks and a CT scan for my gall bladder. There was no follow up on my CT scan, still not scheduled. As for the Colonoscopy, I went to the hospital (Simi Valley Hospital) 5 days before the scheduled procedure to get COVID testing done as required by the hospital. When I got to the hospital, the hospital said they had never gotten the schedule from West G. I wasted another trip, called West G. to re-schedule. Then West G. attempted to cancel my colonoscopy the day of which I refused after having prepared and cleansed my system. The relented and was lucky the hospital could do it on the same day. Worst medical practice I have ever experienced.

The consultation was swift, and rushed as I could understand plenty of patients were waiting in the lobby as the Dr. was behind schedule. I was scheduled to have a colonoscopy done in 2 weeks and a CT scan ...

For the second time I had an appointment with Dr. Fan and he was a "no show." The office didn't even have the decency to contact so I show up only to be told to schedule another appointment.

Due to complications from exposure to mold, I have been seeing physicians and alternative practitioners alike for the past year or so and my experience has run the gamut from excellent to poor- however my visit with Dr Fan yesterday hit an all time low. He was impatient, rude, non-informative, and condescending. Frankly, he seems all together lacking in the most important aspect of healing: compassion. I would not recommend him to anyone.

He is a cocky, know it all, who doesn’t listen to his patients and refuses to get an accurate diagnosis. Mocked me for my entire appointment telling me ‘some people just refuse to treat the symptoms until they find the problem’ - imagine that... I had to beg to get a referral to test for 3 very viable possibilities for what I have been struggling with for over 4 years. Lacks any empathy or compassion for his patients, their pain and suffering, and does not listen to anything other than himself .... awful awful experience after him cancelling my appointments two days in a row and waiting for an hour and a half to be seen. Complete and utter lack of professionalism and his license should be reviewed by the medical board for his complete disregard for all ethical standards of practice.

To continue with this review, you have to check my previous submitted review where I was waiting for my appointment with Dr Fan. It was at 5:20 when a doctor came in to give me the examination and to my surprise was not the doctor I had made my appointment for. I told him that he was not the doctor that I made appointment with and he said that he apologizes (?) . I asked the front desk for all my paperwork and the staff were ALL VERY RUDE AND UNAPOLOGETIC! My PPO insurance will hear about this HillsideMedical group.

My appointment is at 3:45 and it’s now 5:09. I asked the front clerk how long is the wait still after waiting for 45 minutes and she said 15 more minutes and after 15 minutes, she moved me to this room where she asked me if I can remember my height and weight and jot it down on a piece of paper and since then I’m still waiting over 20 minutes now. I’m giving them another 10 minutes and then I will leave because if this is the kind of treatment that I will be having Moving forward with this doctor then I am giving myself a dis-service.

Dr. Fan was really nice when I discussed my ROS with him along with a clear appointment for my colonoscopy during clinic.

The only reason I'm not giving the 5th star is that there is room for improvement when it comes to Dr. Fan's bedside manner. More importantly, I found him to be a competent, well qualified doctor, who acknowledged my fear and put me at ease on the day of my procedure. I've just had my second colonoscopy with him, which was not as comfortable as the first. I have a list of questions for Dr. Fan about that, so perhaps this review will have a part 2, pending his explanation.
