I went in as a new patient. Had a horrible meeting with PA Bell and never met the doctor. He was dismissive and made snap judgments about me that were not fair. I left feeling bullied. I thought about it and wrote a letter to both the doctor and Bell explaining why I was leaving and hoped they could learn from the experience. I did end up finding a fine doctor in Sonoma. I later got a call to make an appointment. I told them I had left and had written a letter explaining why. "Oh, we don't really use letters." WTF? Now, over a month later I get another call for me to make an appointment. I explained what had happened and asked to speak to the doctor directly. I was told he wouldn't do that and I could make an appointment. Fat chance! I just asked them to take my number and the Dermody could call me if he wants. This is a very small town and now I have a very big mouth. I was trying to be tactful and say that we're not a good fit but I think there is something basically wrong with this office.
The office staff was rude as a new patient - I took my business elsewhere - cannot speak to the Dr medical care. I hope he sees this.
I can't recommend this doctors office. They don't think an appointment is necessary when you faint and have to get stitches but won't refill your birth control without an appointment. Even though you've been waiting a week for them to do and they can't even give you a month refill while you wait for an appointment to be available. Just absolutely aggravating to work with them.
Had a GREAT experience today at Dr. Dermody‘s office. Don’t know what all the brouhaha is about the front office staff, they were extremely helpful and kind, even got me kindly slotted in for a same day appt due to high blood pressure even though I was a new patient. I think people forget there are real human beings behind the telephone staff and I’m sure they had strict Covid protocols in place. The front office staff was great! The tech who took my vitals was great. Was seen by Eric, a Physician Assistant. He took his time w me going over my extensive medical history meticulously and was extremely kind even though I was the last appt of the day at 5:30 PM on a Friday and I’m sure he wanted to get home. We worked out a comprehensive plan to deal with my high blood pressure and other issues. I couldn’t recommend this office and their staff etc. more and look forward to working with them in the future. Kate Healy Bowerman
This place, the receptionist and their policy is an absolute joke. I wait at least 15- 20 minutes every time I come here. Today I had a 5 pm appt with Eric Bell to review my new meds for hypertension and blood pressure that he prescribed. I called at 455 sharp to let them know I was going to be a little late like 3 minutes. The receptionist said that I would have to reschedule. Really? Reschedule for being a few minutes late when I wait for them all the time.On top of it, he never called to see how I was doing with the new meds. Then, it gets better- I have been trying to get my annual mammogram. Queen of the valley has called them 5 times and they have not sent it. I Finally had to email the request to Queen of the Valley directly. Apparently the Dad was a good MD back in the day- now it's his son Patrick, an NP Eric Bell and a full staff of administrative assistants that do absolutely nothing to help. I GIVE UP! DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME HERE. TRUST ME YOU WILL REGRET IT!! To Dr Dermody , Eric Bell and staff - you should all be ashamed!
I switched from Kaiser to Cigna and am pleased with the professionals at this office, less so with the staff. The professionals are helpful and kind and attentive. I have seen Anne Bonner, the nurse practitioner, who is wonderful, but the front desk personnel at this office are as rude as can be. There’s a very nice lady whose name I have not gotten (she is helpful and kind), and then there’s Chelsea. In my time under this doctor’s care, I have had two separate what I felt were very rude conversations with Chelsea. My last one was this morning, inquiring about the possibility of a phone appointment in place of an in person one… she was less than friendly in explaining that that’s “not how their office works” and had no inclination to help me find the resources I sought.
Terrible follow up, communication and doctor call backs.
Terrible follow through, physician communication, doctors do not return calls to review results. Kept losing lab results. Two weeks later still waiting for the doctor to review. I felt more like a business transaction or number.
Terrible follow up and communication by doctors. Kept losing lab results that I had to coordinate. Two weeks and still no consultation from the doctor after multiple calls and reminders. Felt more like a business unit than a human unit.
I'd been a patient of Dr. Dermody for over 20 years. When I called to make an appointment for a sinus infection the receptionist told me I was no longer a patient. I was super confused and asked why and she said I must have done something bad. I drove down there and she said she was going to call the cops if I didn't leave. I heard Dr. Dermody talking and asked him to come out and explain what was happening. He said it was because I refused to pay a 20$ copay. He "didn't go to medical school to work for free." I explained that wasn't what happened and I had no problem paying my copay. When leaving from the previous visit I went to pay my standard copay like always and the receptionist told me there's no copay today. I was super confused but she insisted. I'm no doctor but I'm certainly not so broke that a 20$ copay is going to break me like it apparently would for dr. Dermody. He wasn't a very good doctor anyway so it all was for the best just unbelievable that someone who is supposed to care about the well-being of their patients can watch someone grow up over a 20year period and then throw them out over a 20$ misunderstanding. Good luck to anyone who receives medical advice from this joker. And be sure you don't skimp him his 20$ he didn't go to medical school to work for free. He's now in his 80s and still practicing. Not because he loves his job but because he's still trying to pay off his school bills.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
