List of James Kayvanfar's Reviews
James Kayvanfar often has 2+ hr wait times, which a large number of patients have understandably expressed frustration with. I know this both from being a patient myself and from working in his practice. Even the patients with the first appt of the day have to wait every day because he is still at home in the shower every morning when the appt is scheduled and doesn't arrive in the office until about 20 mins after it was set for. But if a patient is late, they lose their appointment slot.He also has his staff double books patients which exaccerbates wait times but is good for his pocketbook. It ensures that no patient missing an appt will result in a lost opportunity for his making more money, even if it frustrates hundreds of patients over the years who have jobs and responsibilities. What underlies this practice is not caring about inconveniencing or upsetting others. "Make them wait. So what!?" I've heard countless times. "I'm a specialist."Ever wonder why there is so much turnover with the office staff? Most of them quit. People understandably don't like being yelled at, talked down to, and being criticized for doing exactly what he told them the previous day to do but then changed his mind without ever telling anyone. And it's worse because he is angry the first time in telling staff how he wants things done,so staff often take careful note to do it exactly like he said so as to never be yelled at again. Only for him to yell at them for doing everything he just ordered them to do. This is a form of psychological abuse. They often not only find a better environment but also higher pay elsewhere.Greed and lack of empathy are not how to run a practice and treat people.

He made the issue worse and never fixed it. He wouldn't admit anything and took no accountability.
There is a lot of office staff turnover and little continuity.Lucy R., Melissa M., Teresa N., Bianca B., Jeanette, Tony, Shannon T., Daniel, Bobbe T. Sadie, Phillip, Victoria, Carla, Larry, Jenny... All for one doctor who is only in his 50s and in solo practice... and these are just a fraction of the staff he's had over the years. It's not uncommon for other doctors to have the same receptionist or other staff for much of their career. Most of the staff have quit on their own accord. And many staff have been upfront with others about their doing so. Unhappy staff even comment to patients they serve that there is a high turnover...Dr. Kayvanfar offered one of his best staff to buy her a house if she continued working for him. Yes, really. She declined.Who is the common denominator here? The doctor... who expresses resentment over their leaving, their perceived lack of gratitude, and giving no notice. How one treats one's subordinates reveals a great deal about one's character. And the high turnover, with new hirees in training so frequently, doesn't help the patient experience. As a former patient and staff member, it was a cycle of people in and out, which was far from ideal.Dr. Kayvanfar tasked a staff member with compiling and writing his employee office manual. When your practice is constantly having to scramble and train new staff, a training manual is useful. What's more useful is realizing that the fault doesn't lie with over twenty different people, and that this isn't normal business practice to have this many new staff.
This person shouldn't be called a doctor, he is a glorified business man. My dad is in his mid 70s, he is starting to have a hard time with mobility. After our 1st visit with this business man, my dad being old school, went a second time without an appointment just to have a conversation for less than 5 minutes in person with him. He was rejected, physically pushed out of the office and not allowed back. Anyway, I wouldn't bring my pet dog here for treatment, good luck to those who see this businessman fit to serve as a doctor.

My first experience with Dr. Kayvanfar was in 2002 when I ended up in the ER with a broken hip. I was very impressed! In 2017 when I had terrible back pain he immediately came to mind and it turned out I had spinal stenosis. I learned to manage it and Dr.K never pushed for surgery. Instead he said that when I was ready he would help me. In November of 2020 I slipped 3 discs (L4 & 5, S-1). Unfortunately due to a bone issue and Covid I had to wait until March 2021 for surgery Dr.K thoroughly explained the procedure to my husband and me and showed all the hardware. My husband was also confident I was in good hands. It was a 9 hour surgery and to my amazement I did not have any pain in recovery nor afterwards. I dealt with nerve regeneration but that was more of an inconvenience. My back feels great!!! I have to add that the nurses in ICU and on the floor told me that Dr.K is the best and several were also his patient. Dr.K takes his time to explain, you are never rushed and his office staff is professional, pleasant and capable.

I was diagnosed with Spinal Stenosis and learned to manage it well. Dr.K never pushed for surgery just told me when I am ready. In November of 2020 I slipped 3 discs (L4 & 5 and S-1). Because of a bone issue and Covid could not get surgery until March 2021. Dr. K thoroughly explained the procedure to my husband and me and showed us the hardware. We were both confident I was in good hands. It was a 9 hour surgery and to my utter amazement I never had any pain, none during the recovery and none afterwards. I dealt with nerve regeneration but that is to be expected and as far as I am concerned it was just a nuisance. Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
