List of Alexander H. Tischler's Reviews
Having seen two other physicians from Newport Ortho Group over the years and having been extremely pleased, I made an appointment with Dr Tischler for sudden onset of significant foot pain. Dr Tischler was quite brief in his evaluation, offered little in the way of thoughts or suggestions (other than that there was nothing needing surgery), nor did I feel like he took the time to understand or explore potential reasons for my condition. From reading other reviews and my prior experiences with Newport Ortho docs, I was expecting a different experience all together and hoping for an explanation, maybe even a solution (other than to go find some stiff-soled shoes), but not that day, I guess.
One word description - Excellent - 32 years ago; multiple Ankle fractures - treatment included Operation with 4 screws - - I still have the screws and a completely no pain functional ankle - thank you for the expert care - what a gift!

I saw Dr. Tischler last week for a fractured foot after being referred by the ER and my GP. Dr. Tischler was on time for his appointments so there was no extra waiting necessary and his staff is very nice and professional. He already had looked at my chart and has the x-rays up on his screen from the ER and knew where the fracture was and what grade it was. He looked at my foot and assessed my pain and recommended me to downgrade from the walking boot into a hard soled walking shoe. He immediately has me scheduled for a 2 week followup so I would have no problems being seen. I liked that he was prompt, courteous and got right to the point of why I was there and how he can help.
This place is a nightmare. First of all, they have patients lined up on beds in a communal room with no curtains between the beds so you have no privacy when talking to the doctor. How does this not totally violate HIPPA? Dr. Tischler breezed into the room, talked to me for maybe one minute, looked at my xrays for less than a minute, told me I'd be fine and to wear a walking boot (I have a broken fibula), then he was gone, leaving the medical assistant to do the rest. I got NO information on what I should be doing between now and my next appointment in three weeks. The only paperwork I got was my receipt, I didn't get any information or instructions on paper about what to do. He told me to walk on it using my crutches, which I did very briefly and now I am in extreme acute pain. He didn't offer to provide me with a handicap placard for my car, and after I left I went back to office and told them I need one, as I have very limited mobility and strength now. I will NOT be going back to see this terrible doctor and have already started the process with my PCP of referring me to a different ortho practice. I work in a hospital and I can tell you this is NOT how ANYONE should be treated EVER and that getting treated this way is NOT the norm. If you've been referred here, save yourself the trouble and immediately change to a different office altogether. You will regret going here, I promise.

Dr. Tischler has to be the most idiotic doctor I have seen.

I'm a personal trainer and sustained an injury from a client dropping and 80 pound barbell on the top of my foot about a year ago. During the same time I was diagnosed with a double hernia which needed an immediate surgery so my attention to my foot was not their. Once I got through my successful hernia repair the pain in my foot and leg started to appear I had my talus bone dislocated from the weight. So I decided to go see an orthopedic. I have had great success with doctor Alan Beyer in the orthopedic institute, So I thought why not see a foot doctor in the same institute. My 1st initial consultation with doctor tischler lasted roughly about 3 minutes. I explained my previous injury and how long it had been he decided to give me a steroid pack Anti-inflammatory in which it did nothing for my pain. He told me to come back in 3 weeks in if the pain didn't go away he would give me an MRI. Within that time I could not take the pain so I went to the emergency Room and had a CT scan done which clearly showed bone fragments in my foot and damage to my ligaments in my foot. Returned the doctor tischler and he very quickly dismissed the scan and this is the best part. "he said you are like a zebra they're very different than horses. What the h*** is that supposed to mean. I strongly believe that the guy has lost his Passion for his career and I do not recommend him at all.

Dr Tischler treated our son and myself. Even made it to my sons apptafter blowing out his a Achilles heal. This was awhile ago. Kind, through and supportive. At my ankle appt. he was very through. Even spoke with me on another matter that meant so much and very supportive. Very compassionate. Highly recommend him and his group.
Dr. Tischler performed a bunionectomy on both feet around 20 years ago. I found him to be caring and professional. Yes, he "tells it like it is", but I find that refreshing so you know what to expect before, during and after surgery. Would definitely recommend him.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
