Alexis D. Furze's Online Review Report Card

Dr. Furze is a gift of professionalism, perfectionism, and the utmost care for his patients, and I am beyond thrilled with the results of my nasal/septum/sinus surgery that he performed on me four and a half months ago!! After I had an accident in the summer in which I incurred a huge contusion on my nose, I received referrals from all of my community on my InstaGram for the most respected plastic surgeons in Los Angeles and Orange County. Having been a model and on-camera host for 30 years, and still doing some modeling as a mature woman, I was extremely anxious and particular in vetting whom I would trust to fix my nose, and after researching many surgeons' Before-and-Afters and determining that Dr. Furze was a nose-specialist - double board certified in facial plastic surgery and ENT, as well as the department Chair of ENT at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach - with exceptional artistry, known for perfectionist care, I knew he was the surgeon I would trust with restoring my nose. Because I had a collapsed right nasal passage, a septum so deviated that it looked like Harry Potter's lightning bolt scar on the PET-scans, and a grape-sized polyp inside my sinus cavity, I knew my nasal/septum/sinus surgery was a very tricky prospect: I had fractured it once before - snow-skiing - and had had two subsequent corrective surgeries. Because my nasal bones had been fractured so many times, Dr. Furze assured me that a conservative, minimally-invasive closed surgery would be best practices in my case, and he did not even need to reposition my nasal bones. Dr. Furze explained every aspect of my surgery to me in detail, making sure I was comfortable and had all my concerns and questions responded to. I had to wait eleven months for the surgery because I am in graduate school and can't take time off during the school year to have surgery, so I was finally able to have surgery this past June of 2022. At my first post-op appointment - six days after the surgery - Dr. Furze removed the tape and the silicone septum splints and I looked in the mirror and almost cried!! My nose was straight and symmetrical and I could breathe!! I included a photo of that day, six days post-surgery, and you can see small superficial skin wounds on the dorsum of my nose from the septum sutures which came through the surface of the skin; these little scabs healed within a few weeks but at the time, I didn't even care about them because I was so so elated with the symmetry of my nose which I haven't had since my skiing accident when I was 13 years old!! I am so so grateful to Dr. Furze and his entire staff for caring for me so well and making what could potentially have been a very stressful surgery as smooth as possible, with an outcome I couldn't be happier with. If you have ANY need for nasal surgery, don't go to just any plastic surgeon who does the whole gamut; go to the specialist whose expertise is the nose and works only on noses day in and day out to the point where he is now a fine-tuned artist. That surgeon is Dr. Furze!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart to you and your whole team of excellence in your beautiful office.

I have recently just been a patient and recipient of nasal surgery from Dr Furze and his team. It has been an amazing process from the beginning Teleconference, through surgery, through post op visits and calls. I truly felt cared for the entire process and would highly recommend. Breathing through my nose is awesome.. and I should have done this years ago :)

My entire experience with Dr. Alexis Furze and all of the staff I encountered along the way were phenomenal. I had a lot of internal work done to fix chronic sinus and breathing issues; Dr. Furze is a perfectionist and knows exactly what he is doing with respect to the ENT issues (otolaryngologist & double board certified in reconstructive and plastic surgery). I always felt like I had his full attention in appointments, was never rushed, and he would close out every visit ensuring that I did not have any unanswered questions. The accessibility and friendliness of his staff was refreshing. He was very realistic and honest with anticipated outcomes and I couldn’t be happier with the results.

Dr. Furze has the best bedside banner of any surgeon I've ever met. I came to him complaining of facial pain which turned out to be from TMJ, and in the process discovered anatomical issues causing my poor breathing and reoccurring sinus infections. He was honest and upfront that he wouldn't be able to relieve the facial pain due to TMJ and I really appreciated his honesty. I NEVER once felt pressured by him or his staff to opt for surgery. He genuinely cared about me as a patient, and after surgery he answered panicked phone calls multiple times in the middle of the night when my pain meds didn't work, which wasn't his fault. His staff, especially Lorena, are so on top of things, and worked with me via email when I couldn't call due to my work schedule. While I'm only 12 days post op, I can already breathe a million times better than before and know that this surgery has changed my life for the better!I'm so thankful I found him (through a friend), he truly is the best of the best!

I finally received a response. A $400 bill for the in person office visit that they happened to file with my insurance over a month ago but decided to bill me 4 days after my posted review.

My review is solely based on the consultation experience. From their reviews, this office seemed to be a perfect pick for a surgical procedure to fix my enlarged turbinates due to my chronic allergies. The staff were all very friendly and the consult was quick. However I'd have to agree with all of the other negative reviews here. It's all about the money. When asked about pricing for the different options presented, the Dr simply replied that insurance would cover it. That doesn't help much considering I have a deductible to pay and a co-insurance responsibility . I tried calling the biller a few days after the appointment thinking the Dr doesn't typically manage this part of business but again the same thing. She responded with what my insurance covered and disregarded my question. When I responded to be clear and ask what exactly they would be charging for the procedure, they stopped responding.

When I heard about Dr. Furze from a family member and heard what a great surgeon he was , I trusted my instinct and booked a consultation. From the moment I met Dr. Furze and his staff, I immediately felt that I was in good hands. Dr. Furze is phenomenal, professional, and a very caring surgeon. I had my septoplasty/rhinoplasty with him not too long ago and my journey with Dr. Furze and his office staff has been so smooth and wonderful. I LOVE MY NOSE!!! He delivered exactly what I wanted, but also what was the best fitting for my face. I can FINALLY breathe better - Dr. Furze took his time on my surgery because I had quite a few problems internally. He is very meticulous and a perfectionist and not only is his work amazing, but so are his bedside manners. He LISTENS to his patients, and as a patient, I always felt calm because I was always heard and never rushed when I had any questions. He takes his time educating you about the entire procedure pre-operatively, post-operatively, and any related questions you have after surgery - he guides you. Dr. Furze and the entire office staff make you feel like family. That is what kind of care and services you get. They are extremely professional and so kind. I referred my family, friends and colleagues to Dr. Furze and they were all so pleased. Therefore, anywhere you are he is definitely worth the trip, he is definitely worth your time, and he is definitely the right surgeon for you.
