Anne Thompson's Online Review Report Card

We have been so lucky to have had some great pediatricians but we especially appreciate Dr. Rhee at Coastal Kids She is so warm thorough communicative and knowledgeable.  A friend recommended Coastal Kids but we were matched with Dr. Rhee by the clinic since we were new patients and we are so glad that we got her The clinic here in Newport is nice and convenient as well.

The doctors are great but the front desk staff is horrible. Raven at the Newport Beach location was very rude and completely unhelpful over the phone. Immediately cut me off and would not listen to anything I had to say. Having a sick infant is very stressful dealing with rude incompetent office staff on top of that is not a good experience.

They never really seemed to have space to see my kids when they were sick. I ended up needing to take my 4 year old to the emergency room for symptoms of a UTI where she was prescribed standard antibiotics but exposed to all kind of other things during COVID. This was fall of 2020. I ended up with a $1000 bill which was totally unnecessary.... Very disappointed with this office.

Doctor Thompson is the best doctor I have ever gone to. For a new mom everything can feel overwhelming but she really puts me at ease. she is so kind thoughtful and I never feel like she is rushing with me or my baby. she always takes her time and answers all my questions. She is so good with babies and kids and you can tell she takes total pride in her job. I really feel so thankful I have her in my corner with any questions I may have. She is truly the loveliest and I couldnt imagine seeing anyone else now that I have her. She cares for my baby and myself. I feel lucky I found Dr Thompson

Dr. Laura Gordon is by far the best doctor we have ever had.  I worked in Asia for over a decade so my kids would see doctors in Taiwan Hong Kong China and Dr. Laura Gordon and her team were by far the most friendly experience and professional.  My kids would always kick and scream when we took them to see the doctors kids just know when a shot is coming but when they are at Coastal Kids they are perfectly calm no drama happily waiting for there favorite doctor to show up.  I dont know how Dr. Gordon does it but she has like a jedi touch that just relaxes the kids and keeps them super chill.  My only gripe is that Dr. Gordon has moved to to another office and is rarely at the Newport Beach office.  BRING HER BACK Also the nurses and administration team at Coastal are on point.  All my kids immunization records were in Chinese using a local Taiwan form.  I needed a English version so that my kids could attend school.  So the nurses went through the Chinese forms and crossed checked each individual shot and transferred them into a US English version.  No easy feat as it mustve taken them hours to do.  I appreciate them so much for doing that.

While the doctors are great the billing team is what generated this review and when does that happen??  Rachell was so easy to deal with.  She showed she actually cared about resolving my problem proactively suggested solutions she then chased down on my behalf and at the end of the day made the situation right.  Im used to outsourced call centers when I call places for billing support and was so pleasantly surprised Coastal Kids took what is a leading childcare practice and kept their excellence consistent across every department.

We love Coastal Kids, especially Dr. Pertz. She has exceeded all of our expectations. She is caring, patient and truly loves what she does. I'm a first time mom and worry (A LOT). She's never made me feel ridiculous for whatever I am worrying about and takes the time to walk me through any questions that I have. Every appointment she comes in and the first thing she does is say hello to our son with such excitement. She doesn't just get the exam done but she interacts with him. She always goes above and beyond and we appreciate it so much. We highly recommend Coastal Kids.

We are so thankful to have found an exceptional physician like Dr. Harris. He is one of the most caring providers I have ever known. He is knowledgeable, thorough, friendly, and truly cares for his patients. He goes above and beyond! Our family loves Coastal Kids.

The thing I worry about the most being in quarantine with 2 kids are household accidents. On the night of Christmas my 2 year old daughter fell from my bed and fractured her clavícule. We tried to avoid going to the ER because of Covid, so we brought her to urgent care. They took an X-ray and put her in a sling. They told us to check back the next day for results. I was upset  during the care and lack of treatment or information so I called Coastal Kids Pediatrics. Since it was after hours and the weekend we had to leave a message, The nurse on call called us right back and  was completely amazing. She explained the healing process, how to take care of our little girl and things that she needed to avoid. She explained how important it was to manage her pain so she could heal the bone better. She brought us peace of mind, in a time of desperation.  We debated for two days if it was wise to bring her to a hospital on the weekend of Christmas with Covid cases skyrocketing . She comforted us and made us understand that it was totally manageable by us without the need of going to ER. 10 days Now my little girl is doing amazing and I am very glad I called Coastal Kids. Having the weekends available is a plus for parents like us with small kids.  They never disappointed us during these 5 years as a patient.  Compared with others in the area they are the best for a series of factors, availability, bedside manners, flexibility, extensive facilities throughout OC and great team of pediatric specialists for a private practice. I totally recommend them.  For the nurse on call on Christmas afternoon, thank you very much!

We used to love coastal kids and then we have been nickeled and dimed way too much. For example, they charged us for all three of our children to get eye exams during their well check visits. We received a bill and they failed to mention that it was an additional cost  and not included in a normal well check appointment. Also, I am being charged to transfer my children's records to another practice and I have to wait two weeks for it to be done. However, I have to pay immediately upon request. I have paid for every single appointment and now I don't have access to my own children's records. Practices that are passionate about the health of their patients would not need do these things. It's very unfortunate. Now, I understand why they have lost many of their best pediatricians.
