List of Brian M. Chesnie's Reviews
The good doctor is very straight forward. I have had two episodes at Hoag regarding a stroke and CHF. He guided me through all tests and meds as needed. Will follow his advice and help as long as I can. TY Dr. Chesnie for a very stressful period in my life.
I am a physician and Dr. Chesnie performed a complete heart workup for me about 6 months ago. He was pleasant and kind. The workup was professional and quite thorough. He put me at ease and explained what the results meant. He was quite comforting.
Did not care for his style of treatment. I do not recommend him! Beware of over charge and poor treatment.
Dr Chesnie was rude, berating me for even being there when he was so busy and backed up. I didn't make the appointment, his scheduler did so maybe he should talk to them. I was most uncomfortable the entire visit. He spent most of my visit telling me he had no time to treat me & I put him in a bind because ethically he now had to treat me!? Like, why would I possibly go back to him for follow up tests?I felt so uncomfortable & stressful the entire visit.
My dad loved his cardiologist. Great communication with insurance and patient and their family! We felt Dr. Chesnie was very knowledgeable and communicated everything in easy to understand language. Great office staff and easy scheduling! Clean and very nice office space !
On 01/26/21 I felt something going on with my heart, and my Apple Watch indicated I had a possible AFib occurrence. I had never had any issues with AFib. I went to the ER and just when they were about to do the EKG I felt my heart go back to Sinus Rhythm, and sure enough it was in Sinus Rhythm. I was told to follow-up with my Cardiologist, who is now a previous Cardiologist. To this day I have not received a call back from him like his medical assistant indicated I would, because they were booked out. I contacted Dr. Brian Chesnie’s office and the office staff Tamara and Vicky were and still are great! I was told they were booked out, but could get me in, in 2 weeks, that in itself was a huge relief! I have Hypertension and my meds needed to be adjusted. Dr. Chesnie got me on the right meds and even one that controls my blood pressure and will help control AFib should it occur again. Dr. Chesnie is a great compassionate, knowledgeable Dr. He conducted tests and provided me with information to completely put my fears and anxiety (which was through the roof) at rest. If I have another AFib occurrence I know I’m in great hands! Thank you Dr. Chesnie and staff!
An EKG that was part of the pre-op evaluation for a kidney stone removal procedure showed that I had Atrial Flutter. I called several cardiologist offices for appointments and talked to polite and well-mannered people but one lady stood out with her personable tone of voice. I made the appointment and sent her office a copy of my EKG. A couple of hours later, to my complete surprise, I received an email back from Dr. Brian Chesnie starting with Dear Mr. followed by caring and empathetic words, which told me that I was going to be in good hands. Just with the first visit, Dr. Chesnie clearly explained my health problem and significantly calmed my worries and fear. His office staff members were courteous and friendly and the waiting time was insignificant. The nurse who did an ultrasound of my heart in his office, being able to sense my worries, with a soothing and caring voice, told me at least twice: “Don’t worry, your heart is fine”. Those simple but sympathetic words meant a lot to people like me who are deeply worried about their health. A few weeks later, Dr. Chesnie brought my heart to its normal rhythm by performing a cardioversion procedure at a Hoag facility in Newport Beach where the entire medical staff was so caring, courteous, and helpful.
I was referred to Dr. Chesnie by my concierge doctor (their other referrals were stellar). I needed cardiac EP, and he doesn't do them anymore, but I wanted to hear his input and likely get a referral. I came away with a lot more than that. Very productive visit. He has a small, very welcoming office. From Tamara at the front to Vicky (?) at the EKG machine, very friendly. They flowed well together. Per his advice and referral, getting ECG records from ER (he wants to see it too) and then off to see Dr. R Banker with it.
I would like to write as to my experience as a very fit individual and as someone who has always taken care of myself from an exercise and lifestyle standpoint from High School on. I waited until I was 65 to get a Calcium Score Test given I exhibited no outward signs of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Imagine my surprise when I got a high score...but knowing that my genetics with two parents who had CVD was not going to play in my favor. Once I got my score, I made an appointment with Dr. Chesnie (a very quick and easy process) and began educating myself...however, you need to go NO further than Dr. Chesnie's Web Site...everything you need to know is there...so start there and don't wander aimlessly around the internet. Vicky, who is Dr Chesnie's Office Manager (and wife)...and was a fantastic coordinator and responsive to every request...put the site together...she is great. I would like to add as a piece of advice to all that read this...get your heart calcium score ASAP once you hit 45...or sooner if you have a family history of CVD. You will save yourself (maybe literally) much hand wringing in the future the sooner you can identify risk factors and begin treating them. Once you do get a score...or even if you don't and just want to talk about cardio health...schedule an appointment with Dr. Chesnie and see him...he is very knowledgeable and you will come away in a better place to make good decisions going forward for the rest of your life. As to my experience...once I got educated, Dr. Chesnie ran me through several tests and got me going on the right med program to begin addressing my issues. Of course, given my age and family history, as mentioned earlier, I didn't expect to get through the rest of my life unscathed and this will be something I will need to be on top of the rest of my life and Dr. Chelsie was again on the spot in talking me through the who, what, where and when for not only my results, but also for other Dr's to add to our team. An excellent starting point for the rest of my journey! I was very happy with the entire exposure to Dr. Chesnie and his team...and the Hoag system in general. I can't say enough positives about my overall treatment...but I tried!!
I am so glad to have found Dr. Chesnie on Yelp! I've been having chest pains for years but recently gone through couple episodes of heart palpitations and chest pains that caused me to go to the ER room 3 times over the last few months. Dr. Chesnie listened to my issues and put me at ease during a very stressful time in my life. While he assured me that he thinks I'm healthy he went ahead to schedule me echo and stress test along with blood test to make sure everything is ok. Thank you so much Dr. Chesnie for not brushing me off but listened to my concerns and putting me at ease.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
