List of Burak M. Ozgur's Reviews
Practically the worst neurosurgeon I have ever encountered in my life. I'll provide back story- I had recently had 5 epidurals, about 30 sessions of PT, and unfortunately (but fortunately fell down the stairs). I called Burak from my bedroom crying - Please help me I can no longer walk because of the excruciating pain I was in. I'm bedridden. You know what he tells me? I'm sorry there is nothing I can do for you. Fast forward one week. I get an MRI and it shows a very very large herniated disc. Really ? you can't fix a simple herniated disc? Needless to say I left this pathetic excuse of a neurosurgeon and went to another. I just want to reiterate reviews that say "top doctor in OC" mean ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. To turn away from someone who desperately needed you is a disgrace to the medical profession. I am so thankful that I found a neurosurgeon who gave me my life back and I am so thankful I never let this neurosurgeon ever touch my back.
I had c6/7 fusion 8 wks ago and couldn’t be more thrilled with Dr. Ozgur and staff. I was admitted to the hospital with numbness and weakness in all extremities (hands were like claws sometimes and my legs were very heavy) and was told by the neurosurgeon on call I needed surgery stat. The on-call surgeon did not get great reviews, so despite advice, I left the hospital and luckily got an apt. with Dr. Ozgur. I had complications from a previous c4-6 disc replacement 5 yrs prior (my vocal cord was injured and I lost my voice; I got another surgery to repair it) so I did not want to settle for my second cervical spine surgeon. Now for the good part- this surgeon and staff (TY Janine! And Bernice and team!) are pure excellence! They are honest, supportive, and very skilled. Dr. Ozgur gave me my life back. I am an active 47 yo- yoga teacher, mom, and nurse and I have NO pain, numbness, or weakness. I am religious with P.T. and getting strong again. Exponentially grateful,Dr. O!
I would like to share a GREAT experience with Dr. Ozgur and his staff. For many years I have suffered from lower back and neck pain. Several months ago the pain became severe with my left leg going numb and my right leg burning. Looking for recommendations Dr. Ozgur's name repeatedly came up as the best of the best! My initial consultation was a bit scary as I was informed I would need four surgeries. Two on my lower back and two on my neck to fuse C-3 through C-7. Dr. Ozgur further explained that although one of the discs in my lower back was bulging 14mm my neck was far more serious and needed immediate surgery! The staff was amazing getting everything arranged, answering many questions and putting all of my concerns to rest. Dr. Ozgur did the front of my neck on Tuesday and the back on Thursday. I was released from the hospital on Friday. (The staff at Hoag all raved about Dr. Ozgur). The first two weeks were a bit tough but I bounced back quickly after that! I was back to work on the 14th day and pretty much back to normal by the third week. It's now been 60 days since the surgeries and I can't even see the scar on the front of my neck. My neck pain is gone, I'm back to the gym and feeling really good! I can't thank Dr. Ozgur, his amazing staff and all who recommended him enough! 5-Stars are just not enough!
dr ozgur saved me from a painful experience of back pain. his surgery was masterful and his supporting staff always available with kindness . THANK YOU DR. ozgur

I went to see Dr. Ozgur for lumbar stenosis, selecting him based on the abundance of positive reviews and because he advertised a minimally invasive procedure for decompression, which is what I was seeking. This approach utilizes multiple small incisions to the sides of the spine rather than a large incision down the middle of the back. I asked lots of questions and specifically stated I did not want an open approach (large incision down the mid back). I was assured a minimally invasive procedure was appropriate. Julia, one of his secretaries, even sent me a nice little video of the procedure using the graduated cannulas through multiple small incisions to access the nerves, no large incision. PERFECT! Day of surgery I wake up and what do I find? A seven inch incision down the middle of my lower back! I got a copy of the operative report which stated that he made the midline incision and then used "...minimally invasive techniques..." to do the decompression. THIS IS NOT WHAT WE DISCUSSED PREOP! My pain was better for about a month and has since gotten progressively worse to the point where it is almost as bad as before the procedure. At a follow up appointment with Dr. Ozgur he told me the latest MRI showed that the issue was fully resolved and referred me to physical therapy and pain management. It was pretty clear from his manner that he was not interested in any further discussion. I do not recommend Dr. Ozgur.
Dr. Ozgur is very thorough and he is patient with all of my many questions. After his explanations he suggests available options and guides the patient through the decision making process for possible next steps. I appreciate his diligence, and his staff is very on top of things with preparation and follow-up. A very good experience all around!
Dr. Ozgur and his team are the best! It has been over 1 month since my microdiscectomy/laminotomy and my intense sciatic pain I used to experience down my leg is gone. Amazing! I was suffering for months from having disc herniation of 0.9mm at L4-5 along with spinal stenosis, but I am now able to walk and drive with no difficulties. Dr. Ozgur took the time to explain and answer all my questions before and after the surgery. I felt I was in good hands throughout the entire process and can’t thank him and his staff (i/c Taehee, Yulia) enough for the quality care I received.
Dr. Ozgur is without doubt, a top notch Neurosurgeon. I was at ease throughout the entire process with him and his entire staff. They were available to answer any and all of my questions. Could not recommend him enough.
My experience with Dr.Ozgur and his entire staff this last Oct 22, 2020 and 3 years ago June 2017 is nothing short of phenomenal. I needed neck surgery in 2017 and went looking for a doctor who was double boarded in neurosurgery and spine surgery. I wanted the best and Dr. Ozgur not only met, but far exceeded my needs. Last month (Oct) I needed to have surgery on my L4,L5 and S1 ( my nerves would burn in the back of my legs, i would feel needles and pins running up and down my legs, sometimes my legs would go numb ). Needless to say there was only one doctor I wanted to do my surgery and of course it was Dr. Ozgur. My wife and I met with Dr Ozgur and his PA Jordan to review my MRIs. Dr. Ozgur explained that I had spinal stenosis ( my nerves and spinal cord were being squeezed in a vise ) and went over all my options. I must tell you that surgery was the last option mentioned. I chose surgery because it gave me the best chance to get on with an active life style asap. It is Nov 9th and I do not feel burning nerves, needles and pins, or numbness in my legs. I will start physical therapy in a week to make sure that I get legs, hips and waist all working in harmony. Again let me say that it took a great doctor and his entire outstanding staff to help me achieve a successful outcome. They just make a fantastic team period. With love to the Entire Team Andy Dosick

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
