I was referred by a close friend to Newport orthopedic retrievant or orthopedic for treatment to my knees.. I was pleased with the service that I received and treatment up until the past few months.After requesting through the appointment center to see a different doctor from my shoulders I was told that I've seen a specific doctor for my knees and I can't see that doctor.After clarifying a 3rd time it's a different part of the body the understood. When making a follow appointment for the shoulders the next person said oh you need to see this doctor who you've seen before for your knees.My most recent appointment I asked for ra prescription for physical therapy for my knees. I was told I had to come in for x-rays. With that I asked to see the doctor's associate or another doctor Who had recently seen for my shoulder pain. They scheduled me not saying who what doctor I'm seeing, Set the schedules very crowded. I called to reschedule and specifying again for physical therapy prescription with with a specialist associate.What it's a happening is I saw the specialist who is only for surgery. I told staff at the office and the doctor why am I seeing him?I received a ton lashing from the doctor he was only there for patients and critical I should not waiste his time for a physical therapy prescription.His associate was not available and I was never informed of that to the 2 times I called to make an appointment and when I arrived at the office.This type of patient experience is ridiculous and unnecessary. Yet this only happens when staff does not listen to a patient's specific request. Including the doctor that I saw today.
What a mess he made. Did surgery on my husbands knee which ended up in staph and MRSA infections. Took the sutures out too early and the wound split wide open and said "It will be fine" It wasn't!! Worst physician I have ever encountered. Please find someone else!! There are a lot of other specialists to choose from.
Newport Orthopedic Institute is the worst. first, they took my MRI and they forgot to schedule the appointment, I called after 10 days and spent additional 2 days getting a hold on anyone, then I finally got my surgery scheduled, now the doctor isn't available every 2 weeks for checkups as they promised, I got my initial post-surgery 15 days AFTER my surgery, you are supposed to have this within 5 days, and the post checkups was supposed to be every 2 weeks, they scheduled them for every 3-4 weeks, and even with that calling me saying the doctor isnt going to be in, in 2 months, they have canceled or pushed back my appointment 6 times because the doctor "wasn't available" this place is so unprofessional, I wish I had done better research. everything is "unavoidable" which basically means the doctor makes too much money and is out playing golf.
As people said before Dr. Charlu is the kindest and most professional doctor I had the pleasure dealing with. But it is the overall operation that has gone down the drain.I have had good service in the past for epidural treatments. This year is a total different story. The service is horrible and wait times are unacceptable. I could not get anyone on the phone to book an appointment. I left 3 voicemails with no response and held even for 55 minutes on the phone listening to music while no one came on line. I finally went to their front desk to book an appointment and got one 8 days out because they were short doctors. After my appointment with the doctor my insurance was not receiving their request for approval. I went to see the doctor again and she told me, that they outsource the process and it will take 1 to 1.5 weeks to process because they have hundreds of requests. After that it all depends on their already filled schedule when I will get my epidural. She advised me to pay out of pocket to shorten the process. I am in pain and miss a lot of night sleep. I must say something is off here. The three times I visited there were only a few patients in the waiting room which is quite different than the filled waiting rooms, I experienced in the past. The place looked like a ghost town as compared to a few years before. Few people working, empty building, plenty of open parking spots. Nevertheless, these wait times while being in pain are unacceptable. They can easily remove their backlog and put the manpower in place to have a 24 hour approval process.
Run away from this place when they try to give you a brace, boot or anything for the sort. A soft, velcro cast for my daughter's finger cost us $355 alone. For a 20 minute visit (10 min waiting, 5 min x-ray, 5 min chat) the whole bill was $1500. I couldn't even tell you what the doctor looked like because it was so quick. Are you kidding me? RUN...RUN...STAY AWAY.

I would HIGHLY DISCOURAGE somebody from going to this location for medical assistance as my experience with them, specifically their billing department, has been nothing but a nightmare.A year ago I went in to have my foot checked out, got an X-ray and then was advised to purchase a walking boot from them. I asked how much it would be and was told $50-$100, so I decided to buy it. When my bill finally came (7 months later) I was charged over $450 for a walking boot that I can find on Amazon for $50. I attempted to file a dispute with their billing department, keep in mind I did this in February, and continued to receive calls from Newport Orthopedic over the next 4-5 months asking when I would pay the charges, to which I replied “I am still waiting to hear the conclusion of my dispute.” Then, as of 3 weeks ago, Newport Orthopedic decided to send my bill to collections despite NEVER hearing a word about the result of my dispute I filed over 6 months ago. When I call their billing department (which I’ve now done over a dozen times) asking to speaking to a supervisor, or somebody that oversees disputes, I’m told they do not have an email or phone number for their supervisor that I can call. So now I am trapped, waiting for Newport Orthopedic to DO THEIR JOB and resolve my dispute while my credit is being destroyed by a collections agency.TLDR: I was overcharged for a walking boot by $400+, filed a dispute, have heard back nothing on the dispute for 6 months and now have been sent to collections despite the at dispute still being unresolved.I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS INSTITUTE FOR MEDICAL ASSISTANCE! ASK FOR ESTIMATES OR ITEMIZED CHARGES FOR ANY CARE YOU RECEIVE OR YOU MAY END UP IN MY SITUATION!

Having gone through a knee replacement 10 years ago with my wife, I knew the quality of service and professionalism of Dr. Beyer and the Hoag Orthopedic Institute. When it came time for my own replacements I had no doubt who to trust with the procedure. Now, at the 2-week post-op mark of my first knee surgery, I have had no surprises, am satisfied with the outcome and look forward to my second knee. Steve Moore 2-24-21

Dr. Richard Lee is a brilliant surgeon!!! This review is 6 years post-op (not the first review.) Dr. Lee performed a 3 level spinal fusion L3-S1 six years ago. Before surgery I was in extreme pain, but after surgery not one ounce of pain. His skill gave me a whole new life.

Dr. Desai’s team in the office and the surgery center are second to none. They were very professional and easy to talk to. Dr. Desai has the BEST bedside manner and he did a great job on my carpal tunnel release surgery. Their follow up is excellent as well.
Dr Desai was my surgeon for a broken wrist. Specifically, repaired my fractured radius with a plate and screws. He answered all of my questions and concerns beforehand and did a beautiful job on the repair. He called me the day after the surgery, which was on a Saturday! Both he and the staff at Newport Orthopedic have done an excellent job with follow up care. I have been in good hands every step of this journey.
This place is like a used car dealership (stack um deep and sell um cheap) My assumption is if you're not there for surgery and just a normal break they want absolutely nothing to do with you. It's such a huge contrast from the pleasurable experience I've had at other Hoag locations I'm surprised their name is connected to this.
Dr Desai is very perceptive and is a good listener. My questions were answered precisely and my confidence in Dr Desai immediate. Surgery was scheduled right away with excellent staff and communications rock solid all the way through. Top notch
My experience with Dr Nassif was the full replacement of both hips. To be honest, I had not planned to get this done this year but the confidence with which he spoke made it seem attainable. As invasive as this procedure probably sounds, I look back on a very smooth event. My experience was first rate. I was treated by a great staff. The surgery went without a hitch. I needed nothing more than Tylenol for comfort once I left the hospital. I actually went back to work after four days each time. I attribute this to the quality of the work done. I am very happy. For the first time in a decade, I have two pain-free hips :)
MRI here is awesome and on time. Meeting with the doctors here is disappointing with how unorganized they are. After checking in, I waited well over an hour to meet with the ortho surgeon. She recommended a procedure and told me the office will call me back, which they never did.
