List of David J. Haupt's Reviews
I want to echo the other reviewers and say that the front office staff is extremely rude. They act as though you have inconvenienced them with your presence and have more concern over their Starbucks order than the patients in the waiting room. They overcharged me on my co-pay and would not acknowledge that they made a mistake. Plus the procedure that Dr. Haupt performed did not fix my problem and the pain is the same as before I went to see the doctor. What a waste of time and money.
This fool tried to solve pain in the balls of my feet by injecting cortisone in the top of my foot causing painful burning and spasms in my toes.
Doctor's office is very difficult to reach and uncommunicative. When I went in for my appointment I was charged $500 for an ankle brace I did not ask for or receive. It took them over a year to reimburse me... I'd find another doctor with a staff that is more attentive.
Hello I am a caregiver for my brother that has been coming to see Dr. Haupt for a month. I had called to get some paper work signed. I waited patiently to get helped. Karen, a staff member at that office first began by mentioning she is not Familiar with that state paper work and wouldn't be able to help us. She stated that she has been working there for 30 years. Which makes no sense that she had said she's never seen this before considering it a common and public form. After another person waiting there pointed out there was indeed a portion that WAS supposed to be completed by the doctor or physician in charge, she said she "could" have it turned over to the doctor, but there would be an additional charge for this. This despite the fact I had called ahead asking for specific help on this form and was told that there wouldn't be a charge since we were charged within the last week for another portion of the same class of State forms. When this was explained to her, she mentioned that there was a certain fee for this, which was also different from what I was charged initially. She reached over my belongings still in my hand for the receipt she had just handed over while simultaneously "asking if" she "could look at it". There is a correct way of handling this and the way she handled it just frankly wasn't professional to say the least.
I visited their office a long time ago before Dr. McCarter retired and their office is just as fantastic as it was then. The staff is super nice and helpful - also they're extremely helpful with explaining things if you're ever confused. And Dr. Mercado, who was my doctor for my visit, was extremely nice and caring. I have a anxiety panic disorder, so after I explained that to the doctor he was calm and supportive and continued to ask me throughout the appointment how I was and if there was anything I needed or that he could do to help. I also informed him of my fear of needles and medical equipment, and he was kind enough to offer me different options(such as lowering the chair so that I wouldn't be able to see what he was doing to my feet) so that I'd be more comfortable.I would recommend this office to anyone who needs to see a podiatrist, especially if they have a fear of medical procedures or have anxiety. I had an absolutely wonderful experience!
Very grateful to have Dr. Haupt as my foot surgeon. Highly recommend this compassionate doctor.
I went to my appt. On March 3, 2022 at 11 am. But the office which is in Anaheim was closed. I called them, they said' we don't have your name on our system'.why should I go to you, if I don't have appt?why didn't u call me before ...?why is this disrespect for patients ? ........,,
Dr. Haupt performed my ORIF surgery to my ankle at St. Joseph Hospital on an emergency basis 7 weeks ago. I’m told everything looks great and I am on track. However, there are issues with his office! I have had to argue with his front desk with regard to co-pay amounts and it’s still not resolved after 3 after care visits. Trying to get a hold of anyone at either of his offices is quite difficult but especially the Anaheim office. You will mostly get the “answering service” and then your call is never returned. One of his nurses is nice and professional but you can barely understand a word she says due to an extreme accent. I even had a friend with me and we were both looking at each other wondering what she just said. I don’t feel like I am clear on all information as to the steps to my recovery (how long will I need to wear a boot, had to ask if I have to sleep in the boot, etc.). I made it clear that I am experiencing a lot of pain to my knee and back due to having to be on a knee scooter, walker, cast, boot but no help was offered. I feel like I’m getting the bare minimum of care. Yesterday I was told to start physical therapy next week but not provided any information as to where to go except to stay in network so I called my primary doctor and was told the ankle surgeon’s office should be getting the authorization. I was told by another podiatrist that co-pays should be zero and all aftercare is included in surgery billing. Dealing with his office is a nightmare and if you can avoid it, go somewhere else.
Wonderful doctor! Caring, compassionate and trustworthy. Did a great job on my foot! Other doctors told me I needed surgery, where he solved the problem in two minutes.
Office is very hard to reach and charged me for a brace I did not receive or ask for.I went in for a twisted ankle and was charged for an ankle brace I did not ask for. After attempting to reach his office multiple times I finally got through and was told they had made a note to remove the charge only to find the charge was never removed upon receiving my bill. I also had a request for an MRI that I was never able to complete because the office had never sent proof of x-ray to my insurance. When I called in to the office (again after multiple attempts) the office answered, quite impatient in tone, and promptly asked me to connect them to my insurance because she "didn't believe" my insurance faxed them the required information to move forward with the MRI. A lot of run around and was never treated for the condition.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
