BEST DOCTOR EVER! I moved out of state and Dr. Rhie is what I miss most about Orange County. He has an incredible talent for recognizing when something isn't right. He suggested I get an ultrasound on my thyroid because "something felt off". I did, and sure enough there was a cancerous tumor that couldn't be felt through my neck. I was able to get it removed and have been cancer free for 3 years so far! From what I researched, thyroid cancer usually isn't detected until after it has spread to the throat and lungs. I can't thank him enough for for being so in tune with his profession.
I became Diabetic TYPE 1 in 1984, In 1988 I as referred by Dr Kevin Huntsman to ENDO Dr Rhie. I was a Brittle & Unaware Diabetic with highs and lows and frequent hospitalization monthly. Dr RHIE recommended to my insurance that I be placed on the Disetronic Insulin Infusion Pump. My hospitalizations dramatically decreased as did the Highs & Lows. After he left to work on computer entry medical records I was assigned to Dr MAYEDA with whom I was well taken care of with my health a priority. Very satisfied with treatment from these doctors and St Josephs.
Go elsewhere! ...so much for the Hippocratic Oath! Dumped me when I was between health plans even as I offered to pay cash...COLD!!! Would not renew my Insulin and have been off it for two weeks now...thanks a lot Doc (NOT)!! We never talked about my diet (found more info on the internet regarding foods I should eat to help Diabetes), what I did for a living, etc. He could have dumped me and renewed my scripts one last time, leaving me time to find someone else. Even when I was on a plan...wait for 30 minutes...sees me for 10 minutes. Asked about emerging drugs...he did not seem up on them. But he sure does write those scripts when you have insurance. quack, quack...insurance drug pusher!! Docs sure are different today!
Seemed confused while taking my health history, had to go over things more than a few times. I printed out test reports that he didnt have on my second visit. Didnt see anything in my test results, even though my testosterone is a few points above low on two tests, basically said I need counseling, there is nothing wrong with me and said I could leave. An endo where you can get an appt within a week and accepts HMO, not a good sign of a doctor in demand. Sink in his exam room was filthy.
