List of Glenn Madokoro's Reviews
Very caring and follows up the appointment with phone calls. Dr. Madokuro is an excellent doctor and has done 3 colonoscopies with excellent results. JM
I called for my annual colonoscopy... which was a year overdue (although I was told at the last colonoscopy I would recieve a reminder call. ) when I tried to make an appointment, I was informed the doctor no longer took Medicare. But, for $800, i could still make an appointment. Sorry, I thought doctors took an oath to help people, not just make money. As good as this doctor had been, the desire for money over care forced me to choose someone else! (And as an aside, people in their 60's, on Medicare, are a population much in need of this service. )
I've been Dr. Madakoro's patient for five years and have had several [ahem] invasive procedures. He is personable, spends plenty of time with you, thoroughly explains everything, and does a careful and extensive scoping. I first went to him when my internist said, "He's the gastro all the docs go to. He's that good."
My husband was a patient of Dr Madokoro's. He had UC and yet the Doctor did not encourage him to get in immediately for a colonoscopy. Time went by and by the time my husband did get in, he was diagnosed with cancer. Dr M was the one to deliver the news. He came across as being very insensitive. Ultimately, my husband died only 7 months afterward. I can't help but think how things could have perhaps gone differently if Dr M had just gotten my husband in sooner for his colonoscopy. I would not recommend Dr M as I feel like he dropped the ball.
This doctor needs a -10. He did not treat my sister well and did not give her the care and concern she needed. As a result, she has a VERY serious illness. Beware!
Terrible experience. I have been patient of Dr. M’s for over 6 years, so ER at Hoag called him to discuss a colon issue I was there with. I got a call from his office to schedule an Appt for follow up. He spent 19 minutes with me, and was acting very hurried. Office staff told me that Dr. Madokoro said if I want my hospital test results I need to go to hospital and get them myself. 3 months later my internist read the ER report to me, showing many lung nodules in my lungs, colitis, & liver issu
I have nothing but negative things to say about this doctor. He did not treat my sister well and did not give her the care and concern she needed. She now has serious health problems as a result. Please beware!
Dr. Madokoro was called by the emergency room physician at Hoag Hospital while I was there last November with bloody diarrhea, since he has been my GI doctor for over 6 years. Upon leaving the hospital I was told to call immediately to follow up with Dr. Madokoro. Instead, I received a call from Dr. Madokoro's office asking me to come in for a follow up to hospital ER visit. I was told by the person who made my appointment that I had to fill out all new patient forms. I explained that I had been Dr. Madokoro's patient for several years, but she insisted that Dr. Madokoro wanted them all completed again. I arrived at my appointed time, and barely sat down before I was asked to come up and pay $250. I said I have insurance, but she told me Dr. Madokoro wants all money up front and I could wait for reimbursement. I was happy to be told that Dr. Madokoro was ready to see me, and there was no wait. When Dr. Madokoro came in my room he said we need to just watch the colitis, as he THINKS it was infectious not ulcerative colitis. I told him I was concerned since I have had this problem several times before. He sounded hurried and rushed, but I was able to squeeze in my concern about the gastro reflux I have continued having since my last visit with him. He told me to add a Pepcid in between the 2-24 hr. Nexium pills he had told me to take before. Dr. Madokoro managed to make it out of my room in less than 10 minutes, so when I got to the front I asked "Did Dr. Madokoro at least get my test results from the hospital?" The receptionist said she would run back and ask him. She returned to tell me that Dr. Madokoro was with a patient, but she would ask him and call me back later. I received a call back from her the next day saying Dr. Madokoro said if you want the results you need to go to the hospital and get them yourself. Then, I started rethinking my whole visit with Dr. Madokoro, and realized that Dr. Madokoro could not have read through all of the new patient forms I had to fill out since they took me right back to see him with no wait. I was OVER Dr. Madokoro at that point. Three months later I had to have a surgery on my foot and needed an EKG to clear me for surgery. I went to my new internist, since my previous physician had recently retired. In going over my medical history with her she inquired about my ER trip three months prior. I told her how I never got results from the stool sample or a final result from the abdominal catscan done at Hoag from that ER trip in November. Hearing that, my internist immediately opened her lap top, accessed Hoag Hospital portal, and told me the test for C-Diff was negative, and she read me the final result of the catscan. She said her biggest concern was that the scan picked up up the lower lobes of my lungs, where there were many lung nodules in both lungs. Furthermore, she was concerned about the lesions in my liver, and the cause of the colitis. So, I waited THREE months to find out from a NEW doctor who CARED about me that I had these major issues. When I left Dr. Madokoro's office on that last visit I felt stupid, embarrassed, and as though I was worrying for no reason. Moving forward, I got a new catscan on my entire lungs, and the results show I have innumerable lung nodules spread diffusely throughout both lungs. I was told that one possible cause of this lung problem could be resulting from gastro reflux being aspirated into my lungs. Had Dr. Madokoro read through the paperwork he insisted I fill out he would have seen all of my concerns INCLUDING chronic cough and wheezing. In my opinion Dr. Madokoro should have discussed the catscan report from Hoag Hospital with me, which included the liver lesions, and lung nodules. HE called ME to come in to follow up from my ER visit at Hoag, remember. I will never go to Dr. Madokoro again, and for all of you out there, please beware! It seems to me that money is the only thing that Dr. Madokoro truly cares about.
Well, I can't really evaluate Dr. Madokoro because he doesn't take insurance. However, his office is kind enough to explain that when I called. When calling as a new patient I was advised they don't take insurance and require $450 upfront for an office visit and $900 upfront for a colonscopy. I was SO disappointed as Dr. Madokoro appears to be an excellent gastrointerologist per all the reviews and apparently is worth every penny!
Best gastroenterologist. Office is super professional, everything is high class. Doctor is so analytical and spends a lot of time to determine what is happening with you. I had my both procedures done with DR Madokoro and my did month later. Highly recommend.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
