List of Hoag Hospital Newport Beach's Reviews
It’s unsettling how intolerable this hospital is. Literally the worst experience ever. Most rude, inconsiderate staff I’ve ever encountered. Actually useless. Should’ve stayed home.
The facility is nice but the affiliate doctors can be subpar. When you check in at ER they can do that quickly and take your vitals. Then they put you back out in the lobby. And you wait and wait for a doctor. I figured out that the Hoag staff is monitored and requlated by medical compliance. But the doctors are affiliates or as the say " they are independent contractors and don't work for the hospital and are not regulated". I waited 6 hours for the doctor to come back after vitals. Not eating, not drinking water etc. Finally I asked the nurse if she knew when the doctor was coming back. She said no. I waited then asked again if they knew where he was and they said they hadn't been able to find him. I told the nurses and everyone else that the doctor had said everything looked good earlier. I needed to go line down and hydrate. I left and drove home and rested. When I read the notes later the doctor left a nasty note that when he came back out no one knew where I was. He could have picked up his phone from wherever he was and called my cell. It's unfortunate that the Hoag doctors are not regulated or accountable to anyone.But... I did get a survey form later and relayed what happened. I hope with Provident leaving and Hoag being on their own that they start to listen to patients and make their doctors accountable.
🌹'Overall Evaluation' will simply do injustice if I don't give them all the ☆☆☆☆☆Service to humanity💖
I had a terrible experience at Hoag Newport Beach. After giving birth here I still have nightmares. The charge nurse asked me to leave the hospital because I wanted to take my newborn son to the family center to visit my fully vaccinated daughter that at first the hospital wouldn't allow to visit with us. After, asking me to leave and when I began to do so the charge nurse then called security on me and security wouldn’t allow me to leave. I was held against my will here. I wouldn’t recommend this hospital to anyone. The attitude of the charge nurse and other nurses, I wouldn’t say that all of the nurses behaved in this manner, was unbelievably nasty. The security blocked me from leaving. I can’t be seen, on the other side of the camera I was holding my newborn, that was only a couple of hours old and all of my belongings, in the picture below. The nurse insisted that I leave, but without my baby. I am in tears just thinking about the way I was treated. I was treated with total disregard and with no care. I wouldn't recommend giving birth here. Also, don’t even bother contacting patient relations because they will do absolutely nothing.
Wow I was completely amazed at the professionalism kindness proficiency and care I received at the ER tonight. Thank you Hoag !!!!
The doctors are excellent but the nurses are terrible. I have to pee in the trash can at ER because no one helped me for one hour. This was last night 11/30/2022
My husband had outpatient surgery on Monday morning. He was released and shouldn’t have been. Back to ER that evening. He was released and wheel-chaired out from the ER at 3:30 am. As I brought the car around, I saw the attendant was no longer there. Unbelievable. My hus band was back in OCM ER at 10:00 the next am.
Feels odd to review a hospital, but I would have to say my experience was rather ok? Instead of focusing on what type of care was received at this location, I prefer to hopefully help some fellow Yelpers with the parking situation. If you happen to need to stay or visit this location for a few days and need in-and-out privileges, you are best off purchasing a weekly pass for $25. If you go in-and-out and pay for a new pass each time for a few hours of parking, you will spend about $7-$10 per pass. For whatever reason, the weekly pass option is not really displayed anywhere except at the electronic kiosk to pay for your parking pass. I only found out about this information after consulting with the front security desk, and could've saved a few bucks if I had known about the weekly parking pass option. It's lame that such a nice hospital does not necessarily validate for visitors or in-patients, but the weekly parking pass is a must if you need to stay/visit here for about a week.
Hoag testing services overcharge by 3 times. Had an MRI for $750 out of pocket. Hoag physician request another MRI using Hoag facility. My charge $2100. Office response: You should have asked beforehand! Also a mixup with Doctors charge. They may have too people but they are really abusing sick people.
Im sorry but most of the staff in the Womens Breast Cancer centre seemed to have missed the "bedside manner" course in training. Rude, curt with absolutely NO empathy for the patient. Use the Hoag in Irvine on Sand Canyon if you really must use Hoag

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
