List of MIchael L Gordon's Reviews
I'm a 75 year old Hispanic woman who has never felt so "unseen" by a professional. This doctor was not interested in my "minor" case. He was curt and abrupt. An MRI shows that I have a compression fracture in C5. I've had pain there before but I did fall last Spring. When I told him I had balance problems he made me stand feet together with my eyes closed, which is a very stressful exercise for someone with my issues. Why did I have to perform for him? What about my pain isssues? All he said is go to Physical Therapy. After that he started to leave. I stopped him because I had questions. He was halfway out the door and turned back. He didn't answer my question ( I had more) and just repeated that I should go to physical therapy. Thankfully, his PA stayed back and tried to answer my question. So now I still have questions and am still in pain. And angry that I didn't stand up for myself. Avoid this doctor.
I adore Dr Gordon and his staff!! They are so helpful and kind. I recently had back surgery and everything went great! I have no complaints. James his PA was amazing too! Hi highly recommend his services!
Doctor Gordon is to the point and explains everything you need to know about your health and procedure. His office and staff are very welcoming and very professional at all times. I would highly recommend Doctor Gordon and the Newport Orthopedic Institute for your health and well being.
I’m on my second week of my post operative recovery and very pleased with the surgery on my back by Dr. Gordon and his very professional staff. The ability to communicate via secure email is a great way to stay in touch and ask questions. He has given me a new active life.
He thoroughly explained my condition and showed me the xrays and mri of my spine. He showed me the seriousness of my condition by comparing my arthritic spine with a normal one. It helped to put the option of surgery vs. PT in perspective. He explained the treatment necessary for relief.
Dr. Gordon and his PA James Marchetti are top notch. I felt completely comfortable and secure with their expertise regarding my situation with my back pain. The staff was great. Thank you Julie and Kim for taking care of my pre op and post op needs. I will highly recommend NOI to anyone needing spinal/ortho care. Thank you so much. Susan Morris
I was experiencing severe left sided hip and groin pain which radiated down to my foot. When I called to schedule my appointment with Dr. Gordon I got in immediately and the front office staff and PA were very supportive. He thoroughly assed me and expedited testing which I had the same day of my appointment. I'm currently undergoing continued treatment by Dr. Gordon along with physical therapy and the injection helped reduce the pain I was having. Today I'm able to sleep well and back to exercising. I'm grateful for his time and treatment. Thank you Pamela Patterson
Amazing. Herniated my L4/L5 in July of 2019 from heavy squats, didn't feel symptoms until Sept 2019. Symptoms included only being able to stand/walk 7 minutes until I had to squat to relieve the pain. Initial pain started from 15 seconds of standing. From Sept 2019 to March 2021, I tried bear with it. Went to 3 different Physical Therapists where the last one actually recommended surgery. In Dec 2019, I saw Dr. Michael Gordon with an MRI. After the diagnosis, he gave me a PT referral. If that didn't work, surgery would be on the table. After doing PT, I went back in Feb 2020 with the same symptoms and he recommended surgery, but he doesn't pressure you to do it - actually tells you to think about it. He's confident in what he does and gives you a breakdown of the statistics of having another surgery down the line. I decided not to do surgery at that time and tried the 3 PTs I mentioned above.Come March 2021, I finally went back to Dr. Michael Gordon and told him I'm ready for surgery - he was pretty surprised that I waited this long. I had to get a microdiscectomy and not knowing much about credentials, I sent Dr. Gordon's resume to my healthcare friends. They noted that he studied at the best spine center in US so I immediately felt confident on the success of the procedure.Surgery went really well. The release that you get from not being able to walk/stand to finally walking around with no pain is unlike no other. Recovery has been really good and the only time I feel pain is if I go a little too hard in the gym. I also feel recovery went smoothly because of my new-found core strength from a 1.5 years of everyday core exercises.I was so amazed by this whole process and how patient Dr. Gordon is, I recommended my mom to get surgery from him as well. After she passed all of the conservative measures, she had the same exact surgery on L5/S1. Also unable to walk previously, she is now walking/standing without pain living her best life. Would I recommend Dr. Gordon for spine issues? Absolutely.EDIT: The team at the office was also very patient and professional. Loved everyone involved and thank you for giving me and my mom's life back!
This doctor is very rude, arrogant, and pompous. Most unprofessional profession I've ever met in my life. I went to see him because I was in a very bad car accident I was hit by three cars on freeway. Instead of focusing on the issues of my back he asked me a question if I had COVID vaccine I said, "no" he continued to intimidate me to get the vaccine, three different times. I had to raise my voice and say "please stop" Then I went to see another doctor in the same facility and he saw me in The hallway, he looked at me up-and-down for probably about 30 seconds with a disgusted look on his face, like why am I walking? When people go to see doctors is not to listen to their opinions about unrelated subjects or to be charged of your current condition. We are going there to find the best plan of action to take for the healing process of our body. It is not just for the physical it's mental as well. We are already at a low point and fill vulnerable. I Would not recommend this so-called doctor for anything.
Dr Gordon is a medical genius knowing how to help people with Spinal problems.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
