List of Taylor Dunphy's Reviews
Avoid Dr. Dunphy! This guy is seeing up to 80 patients per day. Plan on spending an hour in the waiting room, then about an hour in the Dr. Room to see this guy, who will then spend about 5 minutes with you. He gave me a cortisone shot for my knee pain, and missed- gave me no relief. After doing PT for 10 weeks for a meniscus tear that he diagnosed as the source of my pain, nothing changed. On the follow up visit, after like 1 or 2 questions, he suggested surgery. I didn't really trust him, and felt like I was just a number, not a real patient, and that he was surgery happy, and did not care/ have the time to understand me as a patient, the nature and location of the injury, or my activity level as a multi sport athlete. I decided to get a second opinion, with another Dr. and got a completely different diagnosis in that my pain was an inflamed and overworked plica. After reviewing my MRI scans, the new doc moved my knee around, and quite simply asked where the pain was coming from. I told him, as I did Dunphy the pain was in the front medial portion of my knee. I then learned from the new doc that if the pain was from my meniscus, after him looking at my MRI, the pain would have been coming from the back of my knee. New Doc gave me a cortisone shot, and the pain was gone. Dunphy is seeing too many people, could care less about his patients, misdiagnosed me, gave me an ineffective cortisone shot. and wanted to do surgery on something that didn't need it. Avoid Dr. Dunphy! Over the years as an athlete, I've seen a number or Orthopaedic docs for various injuries, and have had a number of different surgeries. Dr. Dunphy was hands down the worst- he just doesn't care, wants to see as many patients as possible, and do as many surgeries as possible, misdiagnosed me, and couldn't land a cortisone shot. Avoid Dr. Dunphy!
I had unbearable pain in my knee and was referred to Newport Orthopedic. The staff was excellent and compassionate. Dr. Dunphy examined my knee and recommended an x-ray and MRI. Within 24hrs, Dr. Dunphy called to tell me that I had a severe tear in my meniscus. He injected my knee with cortisone and I am totally pain-free. I walk for miles every day up and down hills. I was so relieved to find a doctor who did not consider surgery as a first option. I highly recommend Dr. Dunphy. He is professional, knowledgeable, and I feel that any patient is fortunate to have him as a doctor.
Dr Dunphy provided phenomenal care to me when I tore my ACL. I couldn’t believe how quickly I was back to my normal activities. I have very rarely received such expertise combined with such compassion. I’ve sent many friends and family to Dr Dunphy and they all say the same thing.
Dr. Dunphy repaired a full bucket handle tear of my lateral meniscus two years ago. He was quick to see me when I recently was having knee pain to make sure I did not re-injure my knee. I trust him fully and would 100% use him again if needed in the future. Newport Orthopedic is a little hard to get through to on the phone, but that has zero to do with this mans ability. He is a phenomenal surgeon.
I saw Dr. Dunphy re my knee about 2+ years ago. My knee was swelling up and going down...swelling up and going down and hurt constantly but really hurt when the cyst would swell up . I got an mri of it and it showed that i had a tear in my meniscus and a ganglion cyst. I was told surgery was the only option but he was not pushy at all about getting surgery, he simply said it was up to me when I wanted it. Well i waited because it was not hurting really bad and covid hit, so I waited. A year went by and i got a new mri at his request and it showed the same thing as last time but the tear got a little bigger but he was not alarmed at all, same outcome as last time...it was up to me when I was having surgery. Ended up waiting almost another year and finally having surgery last month, when i bent at knees no matter how far i bent down when i went to stand back up it felt like a rubber band about to snap so it was time. Well during that time i waited to have surgery they found a schwanoma ( non cancerous tumor basically ) in the same leg right above the knee. I saw Dr. Nassif for that ( will write another 5 star for him ), so when i went to schedule my knee Dr. Dunphy asked if i wanted to to get the schwanoma out as well, that was a quick yes from me. When scheduling for my knee Dr. Dunphys' scheduler ( her name is Kim and she is beyond nice and returns phone calls when she says she is.... ) had to work with Dr. Nassif scheduler as well. They made it so easy to schedule basically 2 surgeries with 2 different surgeons at the same time. Their surgery center is really nice too !Surgery was...so far a huge success !! I just started pt for it and the therapist was so stoked to see how far i have come 3 weeks out from surgery with no pt yet. I can bend at my knees and when i go to get up that rubber band feeling is gone. As far as Dr. Dunphy and how he is and bedside manner is awesome ! From the first time i saw him i liked him for a few reasons but one main one is...when you talk to him, he looks at you and listens....he is not writing or reading your chart or doing anything but looking at you and listening to you, that is huge for me.I would recommend him to anyone and i know who i am going to go see for sure for when my next sports injury happens without a doubt !
Dr. Dunphy’s staff is awful. They don’t return phone calls or just don’t answer. Took 9 phone calls to his scheduler to get the surgery scheduled. My husband had rotator cuff surgery scheduled for months and they cancelled the afternoon before! Said there were abnormalities on an EKG done 5 1/2 weeks ago! Had a physical 4 months ago and everything was normal- never had a heart problem in his life. Insurance deductible was met for the year and he’s living in pain and now surgery will postponed over a month!
Dr. Dunphy is fantastic!! My shoulder surgery was painless, never took any pain medication. He is easy to talk to and takes time to answer questions. My physical therapist speaks highly of Dr. Dunphy also. Thank you Dr. Dunphy.
Doctor Taylor Dunphy is THE BEST DOCTOR I've had. I have had over 20 surgeries since 2000! I am so happy that I found Dr. Dunphy! He not only saved my right arm, (shoulder surgery) he is a joy to talk to, happy to be around and very understanding. He is truly the doctor we all dream of having.
I had an MRI and and it took three and a half weeks just to get the results, and the only time that he will give them is at 7:00 am???
I injured my knee a few months ago. I had a horrible experience with a previous doctor (who was my doctor for 2 weeks before telling me that I had a knee injury, which was not his specialty. I needed to see a knee specialist!) So after wasting 18 days, I finally got to the right doctor - Dr. Dunphy! Dr. Dunphy is great, very knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. He is nice, takes the time to explain things to patients, and makes you feel comfortable and confident. Since then, everything has been on the right track. My leg keeps getting better and better. I am so lucky to have met Dr. Dunphy. I highly recommend him. Big thanks to Dr. Dunphy !!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
