We were referred to Newport Family Medicine by our regular concierge service for family practice care, but unfortunately, our experience was far from positive. From the very first phone call, the interaction felt cold and corporate--nothing like what we've come to expect from quality doctors' offices. The issues started with scheduling. We booked our appointments two months ago, and they managed to fumble my wife's appointment, telling us one time but it turns out it was earlier. They never followed up or provided any clarification on her appointment, though they did follow up with mine. When we arrived, the front desk attendant was cold and dismissive, acting as if informing us about the scheduling error was somehow doing us a favor. After that, I decided to cancel my appointment altogether. Overall, the experience was disappointing, and I feel like there are much better options for family practice care in the area. I would not recommend Newport Family Medicine based on the lack of warmth, professionalism, and follow-through we experienced.
I've been coming here for over 10 years & the doctors and staff are always great. Usually a short wait but never very long & a very beautiful & clean office environment. I am never rushed through an appointment & always have my questions & concerns addressed. Great office and highly recommend!
Although getting appointments can be tough, as with all doctors, this practice is worth it. The front desk staff is courteous and efficient. The Nurse who checked vitals etc. was nice, personable, and also efficient. Dr. Armstrong is very thorough, knowledgable, and seems to genuinely care about his patients. I appreciate a doctors office with these qualities. Very hard to find these days.
Average wait time is 12 minutes, I've called several times to make appointments. The staff of the telephone are the worst most uncaring coldest people you will ever speak to, they really should not be in healthcare. I scheduled an initial appointment to see Doctor William K Armstrong, he's supposed to be my primary care physician and it's been a year and I've never seen him once. The office called me many days later to reschedule my appointment. I was driving and entered the date incorrectly in my calendar, and I missed the second appointment they rescheduled me for, it's now June and I was pretty coldly told by the lady on the phone, that I cannot see the doctor until October, OCTOBER? and she tells me to just go to Urgent care which is a re-curring thing I see on here based on other reviews left by other patients. Worst front desk staff ever, horrible humans.
My wife and I are both patients at Newport Family Medicine, and we've encountered a recurring issue that we hope can be addressed. Our main challenge has been securing appointments when we are ill. More often than not, we are advised to visit urgent care instead of being offered an appointment with a doctor or a physician assistant. This approach puzzles us, as we believe that ongoing care and the ability to see a healthcare provider when needed are fundamental to the patient-doctor relationship. Additionally, we've found the appointment scheduling process to be quite difficult. The call center often has long wait times, and the staff, while likely doing their best under challenging circumstances, comes across as unhelpful. Furthermore, the strict policy of canceling appointments if a patient is even slightly late (by about 5 minutes) has added to our frustration. We want to emphasize that our interactions with the doctors at Newport Family Medicine, on the occasions we've managed to see them, have been positive. The care provided has been satisfactory. However, the difficulty in scheduling appointments and the lack of flexibility in managing these appointments have hindered our ability to establish a continuous and meaningful relationship with our healthcare providers. We are bringing this to your attention in the hope that it might lead to a review and possible improvements in the appointment scheduling process and overall patient care experience. We believe that with some adjustments, Newport Family Medicine can enhance its service and better meet the needs of its patients. In the meantime, we will be looking for another medical practice.
I see Dr Meisami, who is great, at this practice. No complaints about her. The office on the other hand is horrible. I called to schedule an appointment because I was in a car accident and needed to be seen. The office staff member said they had no appointments until 2 weeks out but would "Send a message to the office manager to see if they could accommodate". That was HOURS ago. I am sitting here in pain waiting for them to call me back. Unacceptable. I will be going to urgent care because I can't wait any longer.
Dr. Prakobwanakit and J. Vancil, PA-C are amazing!! Very thorough in analyzing symptoms, discovering a cause, and treating the illness. They are patient, answer all questions, and have extensive knowledge on many diagnoses and treatments. If they aren't sure, they check with another physician or PA, a great sign of inter-professional communication and collaboration. Reception is helpful with scheduling appointments and taking payments. Checkout is a smooth process with immediate print outs of visit summary and any orders that have been placed. MyChart is an easy way to ask medical questions or request prescription refills. The MAs who respond to many of these messages are helpful and informative.
I see Dr Tannaz Meisami at NFM By far the most proficient physician I've seen. Dr Meisami has correctly diagnosed and treated me for conditions that Specialists (Dermatologist, for example) have failed. She cares, she listens, she's kind and she knows so much !!! Her medical care has made my life markedly better by proper diagnosis and treatment and with heart
My experience at this medical office was frustrating and disappointing. Initially, I spent a considerable amount of time on the phone with a staff member, providing personal information for both myself and my partner, only to find out upon arrival that there was no record of our appointment. Luckily I had proof of the 10-minute conversation due thanks to my call record, which verified I had the right phone number and the call was confirmed by the staff. Despite assurances that someone would follow up to explain the mix-up, no one ever did, leaving me concerned about the handling of our personal information. Moreover, during my second visit, I was unable to see a doctor due to their office having outdated insurance information on Anthem for my plan. The staff informed me that this was a common issue at their office and that it would be looked into - a response that did little to alleviate my frustration. While my partner managed to secure an appointment, we faced additional challenges in getting her lab work done. On the day of her lab appointment, we admittedly arrived 12 minutes late; however, given the numerous inconveniences we had experienced with this office, their unwillingness to accommodate us felt particularly disheartening. The culmination of these negative experiences confirmed our decision to seek a different primary care provider, as this clinic fell short of our expectations and failed to provide a satisfactory level of patient care. We now have a $200 bill for, literally, absolutely nothing.
Just had my first visit to NFM. The staff and PA that I saw were great. They saw me promptly and listened and asked great get to know you questions. I have had trouble finding a PCP but I felt like we got off to a good start.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
