List of Valerie Acevedo's Reviews
Dr Acevedo is very knowledgeable and professional while providing warm and caring services. She is patient and gave me her full attention, answering my questions in an unhurried manner.
I unfortunately had the displeasure of taking my grandmother to Dr. Acevedo. The doctor appeared rushed and flippant the entire appointment. Besides mentioning a potential medication used for memory loss, the doctor did not provide supplementary information, a diagnosis, or what we should expect regarding my grandma's mental decline. Dr. Acevedo was unprofessional and apparently missed the lesson in bedside manner. Her front desk assistant rudely opened the door during our appointment to notify the doctor about another patient waiting...to which the doctor stood up without warning and abruptly exited the room without so much as a goodbye. She did not ask if we had any questions, concerns, or even let us know our appointment was over. We were left sitting there confused and eventually saw ourselves out. Such a waste of my family's time. Needless to say, we won't be returning and I definitely DO NOT recommend to anyone seeking a respectful/professional doctor who cares about each patient.
My mom has been Dr. Acevedo's care for about 4 years now. She has always been through, detailed and honest about her situation and possible solutions. At one point when my mom was in a skilled nursing home and we were so concerned and could not get anyone there to do anything, Dr. Acevedo agreed to see her right away and immediately saw that she was having a stroke or brain hematoma. She called ahead to the emergency room to shorten our wait time. Also, Alex in her office was so helpful with my mom that day and he has always been so professional, kind and caring. We appreciate it so much. As it turned out, it was a brain hematoma which she needed immediate help for and was fine a few days later. I started seeing Dr. Acevedo for my own issues a few months ago and even though I moved 2 hours away, I still go to see her and would not consider finding another neurologist. I highly recommend her and her staff!
Great caring doctor She handled all of my mom’s issues for 3 years and helped my mom make the most of those years. I have referred others to her!! Very caring, took her time and spoke to my mom, not me which my mom soo appreciated. We had an emergency situation with a nursing home and she fit us in and I believe saved my mom’ life
I've evening going to this doctor for over a year. The last few times she is short with me. I'm possibly going through some type of neuromuscular disease. Scary!!!! Trying to get a referral from her has been a joke.
My experience with her was terrible. She saw me in a living room type setting, not even an exam room. Didn't exam me, and said she wasn't going to do any testing, because "nothing would show up". All she did was take me off of one med and put me on another, which I stopped taking, btw. It was a worthless appointment, and waste of my time. I ended up seeing another neurologist who actually did exam me and actually did testing, and found a S1 nerve root injury, that I'm still battling to this day, with finally hope in sight.
Dr. Acevedo is caring and an experienced neurologist. She is very generous with the time she spends with patients and their families. Her staff greets their clients with a smile and courteous conversation. I would recommend Dr. Acevedo with ten stars to anyone who requires neurological care.
I took my dad to see Dr. Acevedo very recently and she was very attentive to getting my dad the tests needed to diagnose him. Before going to Dr. Acevedo, a local hospital was not able to help my dad determine the cause to his symptoms. Thankfully Dr. Acevedo was more detail oriented and we now can be assured my dad had a stroke. Her office staff is also amazing at getting the needed appointments, tests and also referrals to other needed specialists to better help my dad recover. I can't thank Dr. Acevedo enough because now we have peace of mind and better understand what happened to my dad.
I am leaving the practice after being a patient for 8 years because of a horrible experience with Steven who is the doctor's husband and front desk person. He absolutely should not deal with patients. Anything administrative needs to be hand-held and baby sat through and the entire time he'll make you feel like you're putting him out for simple necessities like prescriptions, appointments and if you need a prior authorization, LORD HELP YOU. The office is very unorganized, they don't check faxes or voicemails (Steven told me himself), you are lucky if your appointment gets booked for the time you made it for. It was a final straw recently, after years of his rudeness. The doctor is very sweet but Steven is not worth dealing with.
Dr. Acevedo and her assistant Stephan are absolutely fantastic! Together they provide a top-notch, dedicated, intimate neurology practice. I never have trouble getting an appointment. They always answer the phone. They're heros in navigating the countless challenges of medication prior authorizations. And, most of all, they listen and care!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
