Worst surgeon ever!! Did not want to do cholecystectomy on me because according to him the pain was not from the gallstones, even though all other doctors that saw me in the ER and hospital said it was gallstones. Very unprofessional. Don’t know why he needed to know what I did for a living over the phone and discrediting all other MD’s.
Terrible attitude and is very unprofessional. I was referred for surgery and refused to do it without any explanation. He should not waste time and charge for appointments if he is unwilling to do the work. I will be filing a complaint with my health insurance. The staff at the front desk is extremely rude as well.
Non-surgical impression: Great before surgery and office visit. Not so much after, post op.***He was assigned to me at Hoag. That should've clued me in -- Hoag. Seemed okay enough before surgery. Didn't see me after or come to my bedside with that stellar bedside manner to check on me or even reassure me that my bleeding post-surgery wasn't going to cause any issues or offer clear post-op instructions. I don't normally follow up with the same doctors after a hospital visit unless they've left an impression, but surgery is a bit diff. Went in to see him at his fancy Newport office where he sat outside behind the counter, took patients in himself for all of five min, and walked them out writing prescriptions. My husband told me not to take the six page forms seriously bc this guy was probably going to just look at stitches. I'm annoyingly thorough. Him: Stitches look beautiful.Me: I have questions.Him: I'm a surgeon. Me: I have questions.Him: Go to the ER.Me: ... questionsHim: I'm a surgeon. Me: ... ques...Him: I'm a surgeon. In a poor man's nutshell. How many times can we repeat he's a surgeon, let me count the ways. I was clarifying a something in surgery notes, but I guess he's a surgeon and can't clarify surgery notes unless they're about the surgery. Tunnel vision is a glorious thing. As if he needed to be even more condescending, to explain the diff bw general anesthesia and sedation, he gave my husband a painfully long analogy of a guy knowing cars understanding the diff bw a Honda and Mercedes v someone (ahem cough) wo an interest in cars. I have zero interest in cars so I fit the cliche, however it's fun to considered this dumb. My husband had a field day asking him stupid questions to irritate me. Oh and like another reviewer pointed out, he insisted I had meds I didn't and even insisted I got them while I was asleep at the ER -- I wasn't. Insisted. Bc he's a surgeon everyone. This guy literally called me in just to collect his dues. What a colossal waste of time. Don't worry, I got my post-op instructions from other surgeons who did the same simple surgery... through the Internet (smh). Btw, a more effective analogy would've been Honda and Toyota or Mercedes and BMW.
Stop--think twice. Dr. Dinh performed an appendectomy on my husband that was delayed for Dr. Dinh's own surgical timeline convenience which resulted in my husband laying the the emergency department for eight additional hours. He was cold and callus when he finally came in to operate. He is impatient with standard surgical questions.
I had my gallbladder out in 2014 simple operation, after was left partially paralyzed was discharged under his orders in a wheelchair explain this one? Still having issues AND a hernia that presented itself at the time and nothing was done. Will never go to him or that hospital again.
It was just before Christmas when my wife was slowly getting debilitating symptoms at home. I thought it had to be Covid so I took her to a walk-in Memorial Care Clinic to which the Doctor directed I take my wife straight to the ER at Orange Coast Medical Center. We were already in the midst of two other immediate family members with major health issues and now this. The staff at Orange Coast thanked me for bringing my wife in time to save her life as there was evidence of sepsis. Surgery was done a day later by Dr. Vu Dinh of whom we did not know. Through the fog of this event we saw the light of my wife's successful recovery with the help of Dr. Dinh and his office receptionist Scott. We appreciate Orange Coast Medical Center selecting Dr. Dinh to perform the removal of the tipped gallbladder surrounded by scar tissue in my wife. Thank you to all the medical staff for your service at this Covid time!
Dr Dinh performed a laparoscopic appendectomy on me at Hoag hospital. Dr. Dinh asked me if I had any medical conditions in pre-op and I stated I had a miscarriage 3 weeks ago. He asked me if I had it "on purpose" insinuating that I aborted my baby when I clearly stated it was a miscarriage. This insensitivity persisted after my surgery. My incision site at my belly button continued to bleed profusely after my surgery because he did not suture the incision site. I was given towels to soak up my own blood because I would bleed through my dressing faster than they could come replace it at times. For 10 hours, I asked multiple times for Dr. Dinh to come address my bleeding but he refused to come. Finally a supervisor was called and a different surgeon came and had to suture me bedside to stop the bleeding. Dr. Dinh never followed up or apologized. I saw him in outpatient for a routine follow up and he stated my hair looked messy and blamed the nurse for my continued bleeding.
If I could leave zero stars I would. I got referred to this “surgeon” so that he could talk to me and see if he could help find a solution to possibly have cysts removed. I was talked to about them being Benign. I know that they’re non cancerous, I’ve been having so much pain and discomfort in my breasts and was given a breast exam. I’ve had it done before and a mammogram and ultrasound I know the results. When I had to wait three hours just to take my top off and have a breast exam done and say “do routine check ups” it’s complete bs. I’m upset and never have I felt uncomfortable being seen by a doctor in my life. No I would not recommend anyone to see this doctor. Now I’ll be dealing with pain and discomfort until I can find a real doctor that’ll be able to help have them removed. Worst experience I’ve ever had.
I have given a lot of thought to how I can write a review that thoroughly captures my experience from start to finish with both Dr. Dinh and Scott, which can only be described as Master Class. Dr. Dinh is one of the most honest, compassionate and empathetic doctors from which I have ever receive care. Initially I called the office after being referred by my PCP and Scott was so kind and helpful in scheduling my appointment. Scott went over and above in his "customer service" by telling me I could call ahead of time to make sure I wouldn't have to wait when arriving for my appointment (considering the impacts COVID has had in medical facilities this measure of conscientiousness was appreciated). On the day of my appointment I called ahead of time and Scott assured me that everything was on schedule for that day. I arrived early and was welcomed by Scott and Dr. Dinh who were happy to see me as soon as I arrived. When I met with the doctor I was so comforted and impressed with the amount of time he spent answering ALL my questions and throughly explaining everything. He was so present with me and quickly gained my trust and confidence by his willingness to speak to me with equity, respect and the highest of regards. Once I decided to move forward with the surgery Dr Dinh and Scott worked very hard to accommodate the date for my surgery as I had explained my need to return to work by a certain date. Scott even went over and above to help me schedule my pre-Op apportionments as I was exceptionally busy at work before taking the time off for the surgery. On the day of the surgery Dr. Dinh did everything to make sure I felt comfortable and reassured. The surgery was a huge success and I am thrilled with the results. The doctor took extra time to attend to all of the details which translated into the excellent results. He also used several techniques to ensure that I was practically pain free post surgery. Dr Dinh and Scott also went to great lengths to support my family around the surgery and post op appointments. The review doesn't end there Dr. Dinh encouraged me to call him anytime day or night if I had any questions and even came into the office twice on Saturdays to see me for my post op appointments. I cannot say enough good things about the doctors surgical skill, empathetic bedside manor and overall excellence. I would happily recommend Dr. Dinh and his staff!
I know it's long BUT please for your benefit please read. Your health is important I will start off by saying I have never given a bad review on a doctor before. I have been very fortunate to have great doctors for me and my children. Very compassionate and caring I found dr Dinh on my insurance website and he was close by AND he was taking new patients. I called to schedule an appointment and the office staff was nice. I asked what kind of surgeries the doctor performed as I was trying to get a sense of his experience Since this was an urgent surgery. I went to the ER a few weeks ago with pain and they found 2 incisional hernias and by the time I saw the doctor I was in ALOT of pain to say the least I went to his office on a Friday. Here's where the issues come in. I'm sitting in the waiting room and I see the doctor speaking to some people next to me. He has his hand in her shoulder (comforting her ) which I thought was so nice. I immediately felt comfortable. He walks over to me. Introduces himself. I go to shake his hand he says oh no I can't shake your hand because of Covid. Alright. Even though you were touching the people next to me ? He takes me into the back where I'm thinking he is going to examine me. We walk into a little office and he starts to ask me questions. He asks about my previous surgery. I'm explaining why he details of the surgery. He asks me the timeline of the surgeries. I went to correct him as he was getting them mixed up and he dismissed me. This is the FIRST of many dismissals. He then says so you had a colostomy bag after your surgery. I said no I didn't. He tries to correct me and says well you had to have. I said I think I was there and pretty sure I would know if I had a colostomy bag. He gets defensive. Dismissive again. After him basically trying to correct me on the details of the past surgery he takes me to the examine room. He then proceeds to examine me which I thought was strange since he didn't even know want to shake my hand We finish up. I tell him I'm in a lot of pain he says to go home and take ibuprofen. I say umm I've been taking ibuprofen it doesn't help. He then says well you can go to the ER and I'll meet you thereNow I should have gone with my gut that day but when you are in a lot of pain and worried you don't always make rational decisions. I will later regret it!I get to the hospital. He comes in and doesn't try to comfort me at all knowing how nervous I am. Her performs the survey. It only goes downhill from there. I see him once post op in the hospital. He tells me I can leave 2 days later which was NOT good. I ended up having 2 hernias and a small bowel obstruct. He always made it seem like I had a sprained ones finger when we spoke after the surgery. It was so weird. Again very dismissive of my pain I go home. I am referred to a doctor (not sure why ) who wasn't in my network. I get home and the doctor wouldn't even fill my prescription for pain medication. Again I should have stayed in the hospital at least 5 days with the surgery I had A week later. I go to his office. Again doesn't shake my hand. He sits with me for 5 minutes. Doesn't ask how I'm doing. Brags about how good of a surgeon he is ? And says I shouldn't have any problems when I ask very simple questions about my aftercare. Then says if I do have any problems I need to just go to ER. I'm like ok so you wouldn't want to know ? Like I wouldn't contact you ? Again so weird As I'm leaving he says "ok I'll see ya when I see ya". Who says that ? He knew I felt very uncomfortable and it was so awkward. I won't even get into how he speaks to his front desk guy. Very condescending. I felt so embarrassed for him He refers me to a pain specialist and the pain specialist is like why he likens your surgeon monitor your pain? I'm like he doesn't want to do anything for me. He says don't worry I'll take care of you. Thank the lord for doctors with compassion This surgeon wouldn't even approve my disability. As if it's coming out of his pocket ! I'm 6 weeks out of work and no income. All of my doctors are like he is the one who performed the survey. It's HIS duty to make sure you have the proper after care. Moral of this story. If you want a caring compassionate doctor who really cares and listens to you and is not dismissive and condescending stay away from this doctor. He shouldn't be practicing. He is awful !!!!! I've never been treated this horribly in my life. And funny thing. He knows my last surgeon and knows how wonderful he is. He should take lessons. I pay a lot for my health insurance and this is not healthcare. I shouldn't pay for any of it !!!! And on top of it I may need another survey. Needless to say I won't be contacting him
