List of W. Andrew Cies's Reviews
Dr. Cies and his team are the best in Orange County, but be prepared to wait long past your appointment time. They are always late! Catch up on that book you have been wanting to read or download your favorite album or two to your iPhone. Once you finally get to see the doctor, you'll be happy about how much time they spend answering your questions.
I had a pretty good first appointment here!It was my first time visiting Dr Cies' office and I had a lovely experience. Dr Cies' office is located on the 4th floor at 400 Newport Beach. The office itself was clean, all the workers were friendly and nice, and their location is incredibly convenient. The ladies at the front desk and the first doctor that met with me (I believe it was Dr. Cindy) were incredibly friendly! Dr. Cies was not as friendly as everyone else, but still nice and quick and efficient. There was a bit of a wait in between meeting with Dr. Cindy and Dr. Cies, but overall, not too bad. My appointment was at 1:00PM and I left the building in about under an hour. Dr. Cindy checked my vision and helped update my prescription. She also gave me a new set of lenses to wear and explained my insurance coverage. She checked my eye pressure and dilated my eyes. Dr. Cies checked my eye health and made sure everything was okay. Back at the front desk, the ladies helped me with payment, ordering contacts, and printing out my new prescription. With VSP insurance, I got a contact lens exam for $70. Overall, I had a great first appointment! Grateful to have this office so close to work! I recommend Dr. Cies to anyone!
I just had my uppers and lowers done at age 69 and Dr. Cies did a magnificent job! I have even eyes and he made them look rested and a bit younger. FABULOUS experience!
I've been going to Dr. Cies' office for several years for my annual eye exams. The staff here is always very helpful throughout from scheduling appointments, ordering contacts, my exams, etc. I see Dr. Phan but Dr. Cies also examined my eyes in my most recent visit. When my eye exam is done I'm immediately given my new prescription and they even give you a wallet sized one which comes in handy. They're always happy to explain what my insurance covers and to make sure I use it towards what I may need which is usually contacts. Dr. Cies' office is located in the medical plaza near Fashion Island. Parking is always easy to find. I would recommend this office to anyone that has optical needs in the area.
Avoid this practice at all costs! The front office staff is rude, condescending and doesn't communicate, especially Astrid who actually made my daughter cry! They charge you for a "refraction fee" of $95 even if you don't want new glasses. They don't explain what this fee is, and as a full time contact lens wearer,I don't require new glasses each time I renew my contact lens prescription!
Very professional and friendly. Got me in got me out and my glasses were ready when they said they would be. Would highly recommend
This review is primarily for Dr. Cindy Siu OD. Conscientious would be an understatement... She persevered to find me the best contact lens option for me given my recent situation. There was never a rush to silo me into hard or soft contact lenses. I was able to try both over the course of a few weeks and come to my own conclusion. Communication over NextMD with Dr. Siu was fast and responsive as it pertained to any follow up questions I had. I will continue to see her for my prescription contact needs now and hopefully for years to come!
I went in for a second opinion and was told I was putting barriers up that prevented providers from helping me. I was then told to “suck it up” and pay for an eye drop that’s not covered by my insurance and to use eye ointment that has been ineffective. Never asked about my general health which may or may not contribute to my symptoms and when I told him about other issues, he was very dismissive and condescending. I would never go back to Dr. Cies nor would I recommend anyone to this office.
Dr. Cies REVIEW I have been going to Dr. Cies for several years and recently diagnosed with Glaucoma, so my visits have become more frequent. At one point, when I couldn't get an appt with Dr. Cies couldn't, they suggested seeing Dr. Kurteeva, who I remained with until she left the practice. Most visits I had to wait more than 30-45 minutes until the doctor eventually came in. Now, after going back to Dr. Cies on the first visit, I asked if he could provide any samples of the eye drops because they are very expensive. Instead of getting any samples I received a very condescending and embarrassing lecture. Later in the visit he tried to be a little nicer, perhaps realizing how rude he had been. Every visit with Dr. Cies has been close to an hour or more wait. Not once, but "every" time. It is really disrespectful of my time as I have to work for a living to and lost time is lost money. My last visit I waited almost 2 hours and never saw Dr. Cies. First I waited I sat in the waiting room over 1 hour until I complained. Then they brought me back to a room, took my eye pressure & a photo and keep me waiting yet another 45 minutes until I eventually walked out. The doctor never set foot in the room even once to apologize for an emergency or otherwise they still got paid in full from medicare! After a bit of research my wife & I found an amazing Ophthalmologist in the area. Our first appointment was a shocking eye opener how meticulously thorough he was and with the most high tech equipment. He also took the time to explain everything in excruciating detail. We had first class care with his staff and felt that our time was fairly respected. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise. We only wish it had happened sooner. We now realize the limited level of care we were receiving with Dr. Cies.

After researching a bit, my wife & I found a new Ophthalmologist in the area and after one visit we knew this was a blessing in disguise. Besides getting first class attention, the doctor was was unbelievably thorough with the latest of high tech equipment and took plenty of time to explain everything in great detail. Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
