List of Xavier J Caro's Reviews
You will wait a very long time for an appointment and then find out that the first appointment is strictly a phone appointment. He will order an absurd amount of blood tests - 17 vials! - so be prepared. I went for treatment of severe fibromyalgia because he is supposed to be such a specialist. He told me I also had rheumatoid arthritis and started me on treatments for it. Even though I told him these treatments were not helping me at all and begged him to treat my fibro, he would just lecture me about his "plan" and how he knew what he was doing. I tried to tell him about the awful pain I had in my hips and he literally waived his hand at me and said it was my back (I do have a bad disc). I just found out (from another doctor) that an MRI showed I have bursitis in my hips. I am now receiving treatment for my fibro from another doctor and am feeling much better - that was a complete waste of 4 months of my life. One time he was checking my reflexes and when he did my hand he said, "Well if your knee was bad, your hand is dead" and laughed. This is the Doctor listed for Southern California Fibromyalgia Research & Treatment Center.
Good medicine takes time. Dr Caro takes the time. Medication takes time to work. I don’t think people understand not everything is instant, or your individuality has no impact; it does. I believe Dr Caro takes the necessary time to get an individual’s cure right as one size definitely does not fit all. Medication is essentially toxic. Wouldn’t you want only what you need? No more more and no less. Dr Caro is the “Sherlock Holmes “ of rheumatology, and does good work in my opinion. Of course you can “cattle car” it, maybe even spend less - now (you get what you pay for). Long term and lasting results is my goal. Custom work takes time, maybe costs a bit more, but custom results are always worth it. Then the maintenance becomes routine, as the hard part was done. Maintenance is usually much more affordable, after the big investment, and can last for years. Not unlike clothes or a car, get what you want, comfortable and fitted well, then maintain it, and it lasts. Go cheap, get one size fits all, and buy it again and again… never satisfied, never lasts, and pay more in the long run. But this isn’t a dress. It’s your one and only body. Choice is yours.
Dr. Caro has tried various therapies, and didn’t quit till he found one that actually works. He is thorough and really cares how you’re feeling. I highly recommend him.
In it for money only
Dr. Caro has made a big positive difference in my husband’s life. He listens to our concerns and the treatments my husband has gone through have helped tremendously. The staff is always friendly and helpful.
Very shady billing practice and wanted to charge thousands of dollars for providing in office pain relieving treatments that are not FDA approved
First let me start by saying it took 30 days to get an appointment for a over phone consultation and I was being understanding due to the covid virus The day finally comes and then I wait 2 + hours for him to call me I had to call the office 2x because I hadn't heard from them and thought they forgot about me and I really had no idea what was going on and taking so long ! She said he had a difficult client before me but really over 2 hours of waiting and no one could call me out of courtesy to let me know .... come on that's just rude !! I don't know how he or the office staff could treat the new clients like this I told them to reschedule me and they told me I had to wait another 30 days to get another appointment..... Really I wouldn't even waist your time with this office They obviously don't want new clients and don't know how to treat them
My wife went to Dr. Caro for rheumatoid arthritis. She left because his office business manager was double billing for visits. I here because I'm having same issue with another group of doctors. It is not the first time for me personally to have experienced incorrect (or possibly deliberate) attempts to collect paid for visits. I don't know but I suggest whoever you're using for your healthcare needs that you're sure to keep good records and move to another healthcare provider if you experience this. If you need help with this be sure to find a family member, or even pay for a service to check your doctor bills, as you may find it to be less expensive either way. My provider sent my account to a collection agency. I had to inform them previously that I had paid bills in question. Those disappeared but I now have to go through all my bills again to make sure I didn't already pay them. If you paid already, and pay again, you'll never see the money returned.
Wonderful Doctor, caring and will listen to your health problems
Superb rheumatologist. Cerebral, thoughtful & a rare breed. One of few that makes the effort to thoroughly evaluate a patient and consider all, appropriate options. He informs & educates not only the patient, but the individuals' treatment team. Most just go right to cortisone, and then more when it fails or wears off. He is my, 'go to professional.'

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
