List of Kaiser Permanente Oakland Medical Center's Reviews
Lines and waiting always. Most horrible failure of a selfish corporation. I like the doctors but it's impossible to make an appointment or fill a prescription.

I wrote not that long ago, but here goes again: COVID on an upsurge in the area (fall 2023), and Kaiser now makes you go to their clinic to get a shot (although, ironically, you can get flu and shingles vaccines at local pharmacies--but I digress). And what are their vaccination clinic hours? M-F 9-4:30 ! So you have to take time off from work to get a shot? Do they want you to get a shot or not?! It seems like an ounce of prevention would be worth a pound of cure, but I guess not. After a bunch of complaints, they added a few Saturdays in Sept and Oct--but didn't bother to notify anyone, even though on other matters Kaiser LOVES to inundate your inbox with unsolicited emails. But I guess not when you need it. Oh yes, after over a month, I got referred to the dermatology clinic--but not to a doctor; to a nurse. I guess they really like to ration dermatology and, from what I read in the papers, mental health care. I am one of those people whose families have used Kaiser for two generations, but their administration/red tape is abominable.
I waited in the car for 5 minutes really fast for my dad's shots
I had a great experience as a patient and as a guest. Staff is amazing, super nice and caring. They work very hard at making the patient feel safe and comfortable. There is a large parking garage, with elevators. Charging stations for vehicles. There is a cafeteria with good food available. Peets coffee available too. Large dining area, with a outdoor patio with nice views of the airplanes coming and going. Waiting area does have outlets to plug in chargers etc. The hospital rooms are a good size, their is a sofa/bed a guest can sleep on. I suggest bringing extra pillows and blankets. The hospital bed and couch is very hard and caused us back pain. We brought a heating pad that heloed with the back discomfort. The rooms have their own temp control. Lowest temp is at 55 degrees if you enjoy it on the cooler side. Good size tv available with cable tv. There is Wifi available. Guests who stay overnight have the option of ordering room service for a $10fee. Or you can buy individually at the cafeteria. Open 7a-7pm.
How in the year of 2023 is Kaiser refusing care to people who use cannabis AND refusing to prescribe medically necessary drugs because they are federally classified as a controlled substance???? Kaiser has a policy prohibiting cannabis use in order to receive prescribed stimulants, and patients must submit to initial and randomized ongoing urine testing. A psychiatrist also informed me she as a policy, and potentially many other Kaiser doctors, do not prescribe multiple controlled substances to a patient REGARDLESS OF MEDICAL NECESSITY. There was no inquiry into why I have been on those meds or what health problems I'm experiencing. I am seeking health insurance elsewhere because Kaiser denies me the medical care I need, based on years of successful treatment by other doctors.
My elderly mother goes here. Big difference in customer service comparing Sutter Health. We never received satisfaction survey from KP. Most of KP health care staffs are great. But their administrative staffs have no manners and careless about the patients coming in. The second floor out patient surgery check-in desks (Sation 20 and 22) are the worst. They do not care about your wait time nor the long line. You spoke out to them, they immediately called their security staffs over and considered you're a threat to them.
Great for Medical care
My Oakland Kaiser rheumatologist has often gone above and beyond. When I have been lost within Kaiser's (seemingly) arbitrary division of labor - and aspects of my care that are really based in my rheumatology disorders have been turfed to other acute care providers, she had made sure to keep me informed and check in with me, and the MDs in other departments, to keep continuity of care intact. When I returned to this department after a few months of having my urgent/acute needs "handled" by other departments, the Rheumatologist and her team had reviewed my chart in depth, and were ready to pick right up where we had left off. Great communication, and wonderfully caring, present, and attentive practitioner!
Went to the er August of 2022 with non stop diarrhea for 3 days and a 101.5 fever. Was seen by PA Cormack and it was the worst experience I've ever felt after waiting 2hrs and 20 minutes to be seen. The nurses were calling the PA "doctor" non stop, i requested antibiotics because I'm not from the area and there's no way for me to have a followup visit and was ignored and told "just come by again if your diarrhea persists." This PA really thinks I can spend hundreds on a ER visit just to get what I'm requesting on this current visit? Because of this, I ended up having 3 weeks of diarrhea and diagnosed with Guillain-Barré . If you get DANIEL K MC CORMACK runaway or request a doctor...or choose a different ER

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
