Patrick Curran's Online Review Report Card

I am a snow bird and live in Oceanside for 6 months every year. My neighbor recommended I see Dr. Curran and I am glad I did. He took time to go over my health records and went out of his way to talk about each one. Now it has been 4 years I see him every winter and always get the help I need. When I came down with a couple different  problems he saw me right away and recommended Physical Therapy which greatly helped me.  My husband became his patient as well and we are so glad we found a doctor that knows what is best for us. My husband has been a patient here for a few years.  The doc and NP are ok but the staff suck.  Our appt was at 10 and it's now 10:50.  One guy was waiting when we got here.  Another two women came in and one was called in first, then the guy and then a lady that walked in five minutes ago gets called in.  WTH?  And this is only one experience.  If you complain the female staff gets nasty and vindictive.  The doc does nothing.  I really think this totally is inappropriate.  So we asked and were told there are two docs here but not specifically if those people that came in are attached to which doc.  The girl who handled us puts all calls on hold while she types away and sings to herself and either then answers the call on hold or they hang up.  Who knows.  If my 100% disabled vet spouse wasn't on so many meds AND on dialysis, I would find another doc.  I hate how the medical industry gets people over a barrel like this!!

All my life, I've been blessed with, what popular nomenclature now calls "concierge medicine."  Upon my return to CA., I called on several close family friends. Each an esteemed physician in their field, for counsel on selecting a "physician's, physician."  Independently, each provided a similar remark and ALL gave one,  and only one, singular name; Perrin J. Curran, M.D..  Their remark?  "You're a young man w/ high expectations, require a doc that's going to be around for many decades and Curran is the best" Curran returns calls, not only by close of business, but personally, not some hand-off to staff.  He's taken the time and effort to know me as an individual and not a number.  He works around my frenetic schedule.  I could go on and on, yet words are no match to meeting the man in person.  I've had the best of best in medical care all my life, and no physician comes even close to Dr. Curran.  One caveat or proviso... his primary nurse (I refuse to utter her name) is arrogant, rude, condescending, haughty and well, supercilious with pride... a full 180o to Curran.  Even still, Dr. Curran is peerless.

Absolutely the best doctor I have had. He spends lots of time with you and listens. Most doctors come in for five minutes and don't seem to care. However, Dr. Curran seems to really care about finding the problem the first time even if it means taking longer with the visit.

I don't like to write negative reviews but in this case I felt compelled to caution everyone considering seeing Dr. Curran. My Dad who was 81 had him for a Doctor three years ago and because of Dr Curran's inability to make a rather routine decision to order my Dad a pace maker nearly cost him his life. It turned into an emergency situation . I fired Dr. Curran immediately and replaced him with another cardiologist who saved my Dads life, and today is doing fine at 85. Please be cautious and get a second opinion.

I have been with the same DR for now 4 years. I was impressed at first but now when I go and after I'm all checked in and siting in the waiting room I have seen this many times... They will answer the phone and put them on hold and finish a personal conversation with another employee before helping the person on the phone. Once I was in there with my mom her appt. was first thing in the morning. She was taken back to the room right away and as I'm sitting in the waiting room for now 30 mins I hear one of the nurses come up to the front office and let them know the this lady is asking how long it is going to be before she sees the dr because she called before she came in to make sure we were running on time (yes I knew this was my mom because we were on a time crunch, when all they needed to do was freeze off a mole) after asking the front desk if she had called the nurse then let the front desk know that this lady is very rude. So in frustration I called my mom yes while she is in the room and I was in the waiting room and I clearly stated who I was talking to so the from office staff could hear me. They looked at me as I was on my phone and I let my mom know what they said. My mom by far is not rude and would never be rude to someone who is going to be freezing off a mole. I could tell the front office staff was embarrassed and apologized. If it was easy to change drs I would

Dr Curran is an awesome physician. He listens to you and answers your questions and makes sure you understand. I have a pacemaker and he always answers any question I have about the device. I left a previous cardiologist because a lack of caring and understanding and also medicating me for everything I complained about. Dr Curran gets answers. I would recommend him to others and I have.
