List of Zachary C. Cohen's Reviews
I have been suffering from miserable pain after a spine surgery that has caused me a lot of pain and disability. The first time I met Dr. Cohen, he reviewed my MRI , discussed my surgery with me , explained that sometimes after spine surgery things like this happen. Ill never forget before I left my first consultation he told me " dont worry ... we will get you to where you want to be... this problem has been around for a while so its not gonna change overnight but lets get it under control..." about 9 months later , I am functioning again, picking up my grand kids, playing golf and I was able to wean off my pain medications with the doctors help. Truly a second chance. Ive scene many pain doctors in the past, this one does not want patients sitting idle in pain. Not the doctor to see if you want high doses of pain medications and to just stay on them, but the one you want to see if you want off medications. One of the best.
Dr Cohen is a great doctor who helps people. I felt he listens to my issues and he came up with a solution. I will definitely keep him as my pain management doctor. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful as well. I think the El Cajon clinic has a great team.
Office does not answer calls, return messages or even respond to providers who contact them for treatment orders (x rays). Doesn't matter if MD is good when the practice is poorly managing inquiries. Unless you like being on terminal hold, no responses, poorly executed action items find someplace else
Dr Cohen was terrible. I was a new patient and he took about 5 minutes with me and yelled at me as he was going out the door. i asked him what injections he did and when were they available. He told me that I he didn't know because he didn't do scheduling and left. His staff told me I needed an x-ray in the facility. After 1 1/2 hours I got up and left. Terrible treatment by a doctor.
I see Dr. Cohen for migraines and pain located in my cervical spine. With previous doctors I feel my pain was dismissed and ignored. Dr. Cohen was the first doctor that I have seen in a very long time where I felt like he cared, he listened and he actually helped! His office is busy but totally worth going to see him. I have now been seeing him for months and he has been nothing but attentive! He is helping me manage my pain but with his course of action I am having less pain overall. I recommend him to anyone and everyone. He truly is a great doctor and an honest caring person, we need more people like him in pain medicine!
I arrived at Dr. Cohen's office ten minutes late. I am normally very punctual, but encountered road construction for miles on Pomerado Rd. in Poway that delayed my arrival. My appointment was the first of the day. When I arrived, no other patents were in the reception area. I was told that I was to have completed a five-page packet that that I had not received via internet contact prior to my appointment. After waiting fifteen minutes, Dr. Cohen representative, Kirsten came to the reception window and told me that my appointment had been canceled because I was 10 minutes late and the packet I was to have had was not complete. I explained my circumstances, but she said I would have to re-schedule and return when the packet was completed. I am a 69-year-old prostate cancer prostate cancer patient on crutches due to pelvic metastasis. I was amazed at her dismissive manner and arrogant attitude. She acted like I needed to be punished. She represented the doctor poorly. I won't be back.
I have seen dr multiple times for severe migraine headaches without results. I am self paying for acupuncture which is very helpful. Insurance refuses to pay for this. I went to dr on seprember 8, 2021 to ask that he write a letter for me stating his treatments did not work. I said I would pick it up. He said he would but nothing has been done despite multiple phone calls and multiple not answering phone.
I've FINALLY found a pain management doctor who actually does something for me! My last doctor just put me on pain meds (and not enough to be very helpful) and sent me on my way. Dr. Cohen is actually DOING something for me - I've had a simple, quick procedure on my knee and now my knee is almost pain-free. He tested a device on my back pain, and it worked (HALLEULJAH!), so now he'll be doing a procedure that will take care of almost all of my back pain! I'm just so excited that I'm looking at the real possibility (probability) that I will be pretty close to pain-free in the very near future! Thank you so much, Dr. Cohen and all of your awesome staff!!
Pain specialists as a group are often sub par with inabilities to develop solid practices. They lack people skills, so they become pain specialists, which are in such short supply that even MDs with poor people skills can instantly have full practices. Zachary Cohen is a very well qualified doctor, a class act in all respects with first rate people skills. He is always personable and pleasant. Dr. Cohen has an excellent support staff and runs on time all the time. I feel very lucky that he has accepted me as a patient.
Dr. Cohen is exceptionally kind and compassionate. He understands my case completely and always speaks professionally. The only drawback is trying to get through on the phone or have someone call back after a message!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
