I’m very happy with this visit. Dr. Carlos Saad, Gastroenterologist. Very professional, attentive and highly knowledgeable to understand my symptoms. Plus, he speaks perfect Spanish so the communication was clearly and objective. Thank you, UCI for bringing him to your excellent team!
Best gastroenterologist ever!!!
Nobody does it better! Dr. Saad is an outstanding gastroenterologist. He listens intently to your concerns and responds in clear specific ways. He is a perfect combination of refined clinical acumen and kindness. He has helped me through years of debilitating liver disease. I highly recommend Dr. Saad!
Excellent help. UCI Medical is phenominal. They have So many amazing resources and everyone has access to the records so they all know the full story which is imperative in my instance because there are a couple of complicating factors.
Cannot say enough good things about Dr. Saad!
Dr. Saad at UCI was exceptional! Very informative and knowledgeable.
He is literally an egotistical jerk! My mom has been his patient for 20 years. Becoming a UCI professor has gotten to his ego and head. Recently he was bothered that my mom forgot to cancel a appointment with him (mind you that was 3 years ago). He came into the office and did not greet us. After my mother explained what was wrong with her, he brought up how she never canceled her last appointment which was 3 years ago! He was condescending and rude towards a patient in pain. We also explained to him that my moms surgeon nurse practitioner suggested a bacteria test and he was offended by that! He asked me if "he was a technician or what?" Then said "so you want me to do what a nurse practitioner says?" My response to him was "why is that a problem? My mom has every sign of a bacterial infection in her stomach. She's had 4 huge stomach surgeries and you've always done that test for her her. Why does someone else's suggestion an issue?". It's a type of test where you blow into a machine and measures the bacteria in the stomach. He then said "I don't have that here." We have been his patient for 20 years, he's always possessed that machine. He ordered abdominal X-rays which were a month away. Then he told us that the breath test would probably take 2-3 months to get an appointment and that he had no control over that. Did not prescribe any pain meds or anything. Fast forward two months later. My mom had an appointment so he can discuss the X Ray results with us. My mom shows up and his secretary said the doctor couldn't see her because he didn't have the bacterial breath test (a simple machine you blow air into". Mind you he had the two major tests he needed to discuss the results of that. The office did not call my mother to cancel and the doctor refused to see a patient in pain and bleeding from her anus!!!!! At the X-Ray lab, the radiologist told my mom she has a hernia and doctor Saad knows this since he also has those results yet refused to see to her discuss those results and refer her elsewhere. He is also not a good listener and literally takes everything personal. Egotistical asshole! I filed a complaint against him with the medical board. He should NOT be practicing. Also; I don't understand why this man has such great viewers on other sites. He USED to be good years ago and now he's awful!!!! Lacks bedside manners. He basically stomped on my mother for not canceling an appointment 3 years ago and mind you she was in pain and cried!!!.
RUDE! Condescending! He was recommended by my primary, but this guy is completely lacking any bedside manners. I don't need to be friends with my Dr, but I don't want to feel like I'm imposing, or just a number. There you go, that is my review
Believe the negative reviews!! I had GI issues/heartburn/acid reflux and stomach issues. Dr. Saad spent less than 10 mins with me, and billed my insurance over $900 for a 10 minute visit. He ordered a lot of lab work including an allergy test. Never heard back from Dr. or his staff. Its been over 6 months and still havent heard from Anyone. Doctor Saad is WAY OVERPRICED and does not Help!!! He will not follow up with you or help you with your issues! There are way better Doctors out there & Saad isnt one of them. Wasted time & money!

Dr. Saad is the best physician I have been a patient of by far. I have been going to him for a few years. It started when I was desperate for a doctor who could diagnose my complicated GI issues. After going to a few other GI specialists and getting no results, a doctor friend of mine referred me to him. He spent time and did everything he could to first make the right diagnosis. No jumping to prescribe medications or procedures without first confirming he knew what the disease is. Then started a methodical approach until got my complex autoimmune disease under control. I know so many friends and family who have similar problems and most suffer on a daily basis. Some had to do extensive surgeries to treat their problem which often results in many postop complications. Me, on the other hand, have been back to normal life for years now. I should have written this review a long time ago. The reason I am writing this review now is that he still impressed me again today by his individual attention. I just asked him via a message about referrals and other questions and he responded in minutes! Find another doctor who responds to patient questions this way. You are lucky if you get any response, mostly from an assistant a week later that tells you to make an appointment. You will not regret changing your GI if you are not happy with him/her. If you have an issue that is not resolved, chronic or acute, dont hesitate. He is now part of the UCI health network that is in Tustin. Get a second opinion. You will be happy you did. I would give this office 0 stars if I could. This Dr. has 0 compassion and understanding for his patients fromWhat I experienced. The office staff have NO follow up or common sense to call a patient back when theyve been calling for 4 weeks leaving messages for the Dr.They are completely unorganized, never answer phones, & they dont return phone calls. This is the worst experience Ive had dealing with a any Dr. and Im not one to write reviews but I has such a bad experience overall with this staff, Dr. and lack of follow through that I had to share. This facility is right up the street from my house. I would much rather drive 45 minutes away from home and see a Dr. and staff who have time & truly care for their patients.
Do not go to this doctor. We waited an 1 and a half past our appointment time. Thats not even the worst part. He barely spent anytime with me then said I should go see a different doctor. Ok. Then he ordered 26 tests for me, then said he had to ask his nurse something and never came back! (which you will see in other reviews is very common for him). What a waste of time. Then I get a bill for $987 for a consultation. Are you kidding me. If he thought I should see a different type of doctor he should have sent me on my way and just billed me for a quick regular appointment. This was a big waste of time and money and now we have to start over with another doctor becaus he did nothing for us.By the way...I am disputing the charges. Steer clear of this office.
Dr. Saad was initially very engaged and came across as thoughtful and committed to figuring out what was going on with my body. However, I found that he ultimately was not very good at listening, because on my second visit he ended up ordering another round of tests that I knew wouldnt tell us anything new given knowledge of a medical condition I have. I told him but he didnt seem take that into accountso I was in major panic when those labs werent covered at first. He seems knowledgeable, but there were a few things that I thought were not so great:1. At one point he left the room to go put some orders into a nurse acting like he would be coming back so that I could ask questions, but then never came back and moved onto a different appointment while a nurse ushered me out of the office. I never was able to get those questions answered.2. He insisted that a second round of tests be done at a specific facility that was not the same one where he worked. I got them done and then insurance rejected it because they said I didnt have a referral for the facility where they were done, even though I had a referral for the ordering doctor (Dr. Saad). I believe that is absolutely irresponsible to send someone for tests to another medical institution either without sending along a referral or without letting the patient know before filling the order that that was the case. Those few tests that told us nothing new were priced at $1,600.3. It has been nearly impossible to get medical records from this office. They recently switched online portals, and if you were a patient before but havent gotten an invite from the office there is no way to sign into the new portal. Additionally, some labs, especially if they are not done inhouse, are apparently on paper only, so you cant even view them online. Because they were on paper, I asked to have them mailed to me. They never arrived, so I called again and asked to have them mailed to me. They still didnt arrive, so I called again and they said it had been mailed two days prior but then didnt show up at all, so weeks later I had to call again and got the go ahead to pick them up in person. When I picked them up in person, they at first didnt even give me all of the records I requested.So...not a bad doctor, but absolutely in a bad system and could do better acknowledging and working to remedy that bad system.
His staff is horrible at schedualling . They lost my paperwork 3x and scheduled me at a time that traffic is at its worst it took 2 hrs to get there and being I was late they wanted to reschedule after 4 months of trying to be seen due to misplacement or loss of paperwork . Find another dr this one might come recommended but youll probably end up worse due to the wait and staffs incompetence .
This is not about the doctor. (unfortunately I did not even have a chance to find out whether the doctor was good or not)I am not sure what is their problem but I had to call 6 or 7 times, talked to a few people trying to get help, YET the person Veronica who actually makes appointments never got back to me over 2 weeks (I left her a few voice messages as well)... never heard back, again, in spite of my reaching out to them more than 5 timesVery unprofessional office and I am certainly not going to see any doctors whose office is run that way, I cant trust...
I like the doc but good luck getting a call back! i leave messages and they promise to call back never do
