You currently employ Belinda Alvarez who is harassing bereaved parents of childhood cancer completely unprovoked. She needs to be fired immediately as this behavior should be unacceptable.

I rarely feel so strongly about a review but can I give negative stairs? Just don't come here. Drive the extra 30 mins and go to Choc in Newport because you'll get faster / much better care there. We got to Urgent Care right when it opened. We were told the wait is 1 hour but it ended up being close to 4 hours. Yes, that's right...4 hours. Every time we checked in, they kept saying, "just 1 patient ahead of you." Extremely unprofessional and inefficiently run with staff who lacks empathy. At least tell the patients the truth so we can plan accordingly. The staff was just outside laughing and chatting. Perhaps spend just 1 minute of that time to see if your patient who came in with a fever (who has been waiting for 4 hours) need some Tylenol or just check-in to let us know that it'll be a while so we know you didn't forget about us. A lot of the parents were talking to each other, trying to understand what was going on. Please, just save yourself, your family, and your sick baby the trouble. Go elsewhere!

I would give the amazing staff at CHOC 10 stars if I could!!! We were there from Fri-Sunday. I brought my 13 month old daughter to CHOC for fever, dehydration & lethargy and the staff in the ER assessed her right away & we were in a room with labs/ x ray / IV line with in an hour! Nurse Anna in the ER was so sweet and gracious and beyond professional and started her IV with minimal tears. We were moved to the over flow unit on the 2nd floor & nurse Alex & the CNA ( going to school for her athletic trainer degree) and Nurse Amanda were so friendly, reassuring and professional and took great care of me AND baby Grace. We were moved to room 425-2 were the compassionate and competent care continued throughout the following 2 days! From the minute we were picked up from the ER overflow unit, Nurse Anna worked seamlessly with charge nurse Pansey to obtain vital signs/ assessment and got us settled while attending to my needs as well. They were so engaging and explained every step, gave me water and juice and even held the baby so I could quilt use the bathroom for the first time in hours. They made sure I had enough linens, water and food to be able to nurse the baby throughout the night and get some rest. The next morning nurse Heidi made time to educate me on my daughters condition & plan of the day, all the while conducing thorough & compassionate care. She even engaged with my husband and offered him education / updates when he visited. Nurse Heidi noticed my daughter's IV might be infiltrated & nurse Amanda was in the room changing it within minutes. Amanda also helped the previous night in getting us settled and she exemplified a true team player. She even volunteered to wheel us out and waited patiently while I got Grace settled and help bring down our bags! CNA Nelly rushed to my room when the babe removed her IV and was bleeding all over me and the room. She gave the baby a soothing warm bath and even wiped my arms with a warm towel as I held the baby ( and sang to her) and then held the baby while I used the bathroom. nurse Betty and CNA AJ were so attentive and kind throughout the night and checked on us continuously. Nurse Sami went above and beyond by checking on me AND the baby throughout the day, conducting a thorough yet gentle assessment and even took the time to have a heart warming conversation and provide emotional support for me. She truly gave so much of her time and was a big source of support and reassurance for me. Additionally, Doctor Armstrong was a true god-send. From our first meeting in the ER till the day we were discharged he provided the most professional, sweet and informative care I've ever received. I completely trust him with my baby's care and both him and his PA's were the most kind and professional & thorough doctors. They really took the time and listened to my concerns and were super supportive of both me AND my baby. Our call light was answered quickly and I felt fully supported and cared for throughout my entire stay and that makes a world of difference when you are so worried for your infant! My heart felt thank you to the caring, competent and caring staff at CHOC. You are a huge blessing to worried moms and dads in our community and are so appreciated!!!!
Never again..spent 8 nightmare hours in the ER. Totally unorganized & unprofessional rude staff that clearly don't care. They have COVID rules that make no sense. We stayed for 2 days & had to constantly ask for basic things..kids are trying to rest & constant machines going off/beeping while the nurses talking, laughing at the nurse station. If the nurses were busy (or socializing), they sent in "helpers" who didn't know what they were doing & made things worse. I ended up doing most of the things needed myself. There was zero sense of urgency & we couldn't wait to leave. I felt like we were a burden on them & just an unwanted guest in hotel or motel in this case. Hospital is old & dirty, the public bathrooms disgusting. So many other places for your child's care, choose wisely & not this place.
My son had surgery here the week of the lockdown March 2020 at 2 months old, the surgery was a success and my two year old is doing great. I've had to bring him to the ER a couple times for croup and him needing some breathing treatments, they took good care of my son and I will always bring him back here if needed even though we live 30-45 mins away. I am happy with the care he receives and am thankful for their service.
We have been outside near the parking lot for over 8 hours with a head injury. They didn't even check vital. Never go here.
Brought my daughter to the ER at the request of her medical team as she tested positive for covid, feels horrible and has a primary immunodeficiency. They sent her to recieve monoclonal antibody treatment because her high risk. Got to the ER, waited 3 hours and then a resident doctor comes in and disregards her medical history and symptoms. He then went on to say monoclonal antibodies are not approved for those under 40 kg, which is not true now. The attending then came in at our request stating CHOC is only giving monoclonal antibodies to those who are over 12 and they will disregard the EUA. He then went in to say our child like so many will be just fine. But, unfortunately our child is not like others and at very high risk for a decline in status. We are not the parents who bring their children to the ER and will avoid the ER especially at CHOC at all cost! It feels like we were told to go to the ER so CHOC can just make money off my child. They do not care about your child in the ER and just try to give your child Tyelonol and send to home. There have been 4 times when we have had to return to the ER the very next day only to have to have our child admitted the next day. They just don't seem to really care about the child any more. Don't come to this ER! We are considering driving upto CHLA from this day on even though it is an hour away and we would have to pay a lot more but at least our child would get the care they need.
My 1 month old son had to go to the ER last night and virtually every person from reception to nurses, doctors, ultrasound technicians and general staff were the kindest people I've ever encountered in a hospital. They were gentle with my son and very empathetic. I have never seen an ER doctor with such good bedside manner. You could tell that we were not just a number for him but he truly cared about my son and his well-being. Shoutout to Dr. Lonquich for providing such good care, don't stop doing what you're doing! I can't remember our nurses names but they were all wonderful. The blood testing was so hard to watch for me. I stood in the hallway while my husband held his hand in the room and I was truly a mess. Literally every nurse or staff member that passed me in the hallway comforted me. I've donated to Choc before but I honestly feel like fundraising for them. I can tell they care for the children being treated there.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
