Farouk Nasir’s Prostate Artery Embolization on 5-17-2021 I would like to mention here some events which I observed before and after my surgery. I did not see Dr. Katrivesis, either before nor after the surgery when I was in my prep or recovery station. He did not come before the surgery to ask me if I had any questions or concerns, a Resident doctor (I believe she mentioned that) came before the surgery, nor did I observe Dr. Katrivesis in the surgery room before I passed out from the affect of the anesthesia. After the procedure was completed, Dr. Katrivesis did not come to my recovery station or his assistant the resident doctor come and check on me after I woke up. I latter enquired whether Dr. Katrivesis did perform the procedure himself. After the surgery there was only one male nurse available to help me if I needed any help. The nurse available contacted the person who brought me to UCI in order that she come and take me back home. My transporter arrived to take me back home
My one star review is not about the doctor himself but the PAE procedure that I had done. Dr. Katrivesis is a very nice respectable doctor and knowledgeable. The PAE procedure was done on me back in late October 2019. In my opinion the procedure was a complete failure. 67 months later and my initial symptoms that I went in for are completely back( need to urinate almost every 2 hours, infrequent slow urine flow, waking up at night 2+ times to urinate and the constant feeling that my bladder isnt empty) I am also making payments on a $3000 bill portion that my insurance didnt cover. Thats money I couldve used for other important things but a hard lesson learned. Nothing against the doctor personally, he tried. I just would NOT recommend this PAE procedure to any future patients. Save your money and try some other alternative especially if its less money out of your pocket. In hindsight I kick myself for having this procedure done.
