List of John P. Fruehauf's Reviews
It took me a long time to write this review. My mom was Dr. Fruehauf’s patient a couple years ago, and I was her care giver. She passed away and I was overcome by so much grief and did not want my grief to affect my judgement. The least I can say is that he lacks empathy. He has also made multiple racist comments. Once my mom was in too much pain and said that she is not feeling well at all, he said something basically meaning that if you were in your home country, Iran, you would have not received the care that you are getting here and that you should be happy. A stage IV cancer patient in too much pain should not be expressing her pain since she is from Iran or elsewhere. This is just one example of many racist and insensitive comments he made during the couple of years my mother was under his care. My mom was a proud woman and these comments caused a lot of pain to her and to myself. My mom had a rare cancer (Leiomyosarcoma) and he was the only physician expert in sarcoma at UCI (or may be orange county) as far as we knew. We had to endure his behavior in the hope of receiving better treatment. He said directly to my mom’s face that since my mom's parents passed away about the same age of my mom, she should be grateful if she can live to the same age. During the course of treatment, when my mom was experiencing severe back pain and had to be taken to the ER several times due to the severity of the pain, I asked Dr. Fruehauf to give us some advice or painkillers so that my mother, considering her end-stage disease, not to wait for hours in the ER to get some pain relief. Instead, he emailed me back suggesting tunic water to help with the pain! I have kept his email and can provide it, if needed. As I realized that I cannot get help from him I pushed the pain management team and after they did additional imaging, they found that she had multiple tumors in her spine, which were the pain source, NOT the muscle spasm as Dr. Fruehauf suspected! He never came visit my mother as she had to be hospitalized due to the cancer’s and treatment’s complications. He never contacted us when she was hospitalized, not even the last time when we were told there is nothing else that can be done and she has to go for hospice. Maybe he is doing good research but he definitely lacks bedside manner or sympathy for the well-being of his patients or at least for a patient originally from Iran!

It took me a long time to say this but anyone would be lucky to have Dr. Fruehof as their Dr. I read a review that he more into the science than the patient. The science is what gave our family extra time we would not have had. And he was honest , didn't hold out false hope. But we always knew what was going down. He never lied. And he cares. And I bless Dr. Fruehof and "Tu" for making a difference. - --- Forever friends --Sue Fruhwirth and Larry koontz

Be very cautious with this doctor! He will use you as his guinea pig, and then drop you like a hot-cake when you fall apart from all the experiments. He'll put on a good act, like he cares for you and is concerned for your health, but when it comes down to it...you are just another statistic for his research & experiments!

He is an excellent doctor, handled my wifes cancer extremely well and we both highly recommend him.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
