While the wait was a bit long, it was worth it when I met Dr Jafari and her PA, who were reassuring, kind, and discussed my concerns. Her staff is also really nice.
I instantly liked the Doctor. She was pleasant, her questions were appropriate and she was thorough.
My husband has Crohn’s disease and had a closed loop small bowel obstruction w/peritonitis and gangrene. He was extremely close to death and his surgeon was going on vacation and chose Dr. Jafari to cover for him at NYP-Cornell. He assured me of her expertise and trusted her to do the job. I have nothing but praise for her and her staff. She just reversed his ileostomy yesterday and when he was having some BP issues today, she and her staff came right away to resolve the issue. This was the second time she operated on him. Through the patient app portal, I have had to reach out many times over the past months and her staff always answers very quickly. Those who think this was written by the surgeon herself would be mistaken. I’m the wife and I am writing this review. She’s an excellent surgeon who’s very confident in her abilities and I trust her judgment implicitly. I also have worked in various medical positions throughout my life & am very picky who I or my family sees.
Dr Jafari is a focused doctor who made me feel like I was her most important priority. A no nonsense doctor who gave me peace of mind and confidence that she was going to do everything she could to give me a healthy and prosperous life. It’s been 7 months since surgery and life is good. The recovery was better than I expected. Thank you Dr Jafari and your staff at UCI.
I just want to say thank you Dr. Jafari for the amazing job and her team as well.

Dr. Jafari performed surgery on me using advanced laparoscopic and robotic techniques. I had put off dealing with my issue for years due to fear of having surgery and its potential consequences. After meeting with Dr. Jafari to address my issue, I was extremely impressed with her confidence and expertise in addressing my problem. Her whole surgical team made me realize I had nothing to worry about. After the surgery, I had almost no discomfort and only a few small incisions sealed with glue, and was home the next day resuming my normal activities. I would strongly recommend her to anyone needing gastrointestinal surgery. In my book she gets 12 thumbs up, and I feel so blessed and grateful to have been Dr. Jafari's patient and have her care for me. She definitely knows her stuff!
I was referred to her by my GI. She is terribly rude and a bad surgeon. I had complication after complication with her. I would not recommend her.
Excellent surgeon
Great care
I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS DR TO ANYONE - SHE IS HOMOPHOBIC, EXTREMELY RUDE, ARROGANT, AND EGOTISTICAL! SHE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THE PATIENTS WHO HAVE WAITED TO SEE HER! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
I had several complications with this surgeon, along with poor communication from her and her team. Poor bedside manners. I would not recommend her. I agree with the other poster about some of the "good" reviews not being legit.
I highly recommend Dr. Jafari. She is smart and fun and I felt well cared for at Douglas Hospital. Everyone was terrific. My night nurse, Rene, was the best!!!
Dr Jafari is amazing! Had my first of 3 step J pouch surgery 12/2020 after suffering for too long with severe pancolitis. Surgery & recovery went great, and my hospital stay was delightful with the UCI team. So grateful for Dr Jafari for saving my quality of life
This doctor is very incompetent has attitude with patient. She does not spend time to discuss the options rather she sent a doctor who is in residency to discuss your options. Please look other doctor and do not go to her. so very disappointing
Dr.Jafari is the best! She has a little bit of a attitude and that's OK! If you need a colorectal surgeon look no further!I believe she basically has saved my life!
great bedside manners, always listens. As a a 40 yr mother, i was told i was going to die of cancer. She saw me right away, explained over an hour what the plan was, got me to see the best oncologist, and i am now cured of cancer. Other surgeons told me i had no chance! She gave me hope where there was none.

I have a lot of trouble believing the last two recent reviews are from real patients. Instead, they may be the work of the marketing department at the University of California, Irvine - or even the doctor herself! This doctor may be a bit unaware of how she comes across. She operated on my husband with Crohn's disease. From the very first office visit we got a bad vibe from her but decided to proceed anyways because we were at a top University. We should have read the reviews on here & elsewhere because they are certainly true! She is not empathetic. She does not explain the procedures clearly. We got the feeling that she was hiding a lot of information from us, and when my husband suffered a complication, although it was minor, she did not seem to care and did not take any responsibility. She carries herself as if she has been a top surgeon for 30 yrs but she graduated from training only four years ago or so. She should take a big bite out of humble pie! I would avoid UCI colorectal!
