I had a great experience here. The man is really smart and knew exactly what to do to help me. Super relaxing massage at end.
I never leave reviews, especially bad ones. But this was a horrible experience. I was yelled at for trying to use a Groupon. The man yelled at me because I bought 2 Groupons. The fine print says you can buy 4. He said Groupon is wrong and I could only purchase once. But I already purchase two. He said the Groupon is wrong. I tried to explain that he needs to change the terms listed or not use groupon if he's not going to honor it. He accused me of breaking the rules and yelled at me for 10 minutes humiliating me in front of other customers. And he swiped "redeemed" on my Groupon that I got zero service for.
It was my first acupuncture ever. The Dr has very broken english so it is difficult to understand. At first he seemed nice. Showed him my Groupon purchase for a 60 minute acupuncture treatment. He took me in and asked where it hurt. I informed him my lower back. After that he did not walk me through anything and just began poking me. He told me to sleep and came back about 40 minutes later to take out the pins and stretch my legs. He told me to change after that. I bought the Groupon ticket for 60 minutes and was kicked out after 40 minutes.
I bought packages for this business through Groupon. Groupon allowed up to 4 packages to be purchased & I bought 3. I first tried to email the business to schedule an appointment & didn't receive any communication back after a few days so I called them. The owner said he was only open Monday-Friday despite his website & Google showing Saturdays 10-3pm & said the latest weekday appt. he could take was 5:00/5:15. Even though I was hoping for a Saturday appt. since I work full-time Mon-Fri, & bought my Groupon packages based on this, I made an appt. for 5:15 on a weekday. When I arrived for my appointment the owner barely said a word & handed me forms to complete. Then took me to a room & didn't explain anything. Just asked my reason for the session in one word by saying "anxiety?" and then started inputting needles- again, with no explanation or any communication. He then told me to sleep by making hand gestures & sleeping noises (since his English was broken) so I asked how long I would be in the room for & he said 25 min. When I was done & went to checkout with him, he again didn't say a word so I asked if he needed me to pull up the Groupon. He told me I needed to hit "redeem" on the voucher of the first package I bought (each package was 3 acupuncture services) & I specifically asked him if I'm supposed to before all 3 services have been used & he said yes. So I did & then when I went to schedule my 2nd session & asked for a time around the lunch hour during the week since he wasn't open on Saturdays, he said he was only open from 2-6pm. I looked at the hours on his door & they said "Mon-Fri 9:30-6:00pm & Saturdays by appointment only" so I pointed that out & said "so you aren't open the hours on your door or as shown online?" He said no. I told him I don't think I can come back due to the very restricted hours & would need to get a refund. He said he doesn't know anything about refunds with Groupon & asked why I even bought the packages through Groupon. I told him because it was a referral & I was hoping to continue sessions after my Groupon packages and once I said that he said he could be available at 1 pm during the week, but said I could only use one Groupon package & not the 3 I purchased. As he said this he became very agitated and started raising his voice asking me how much I paid, ranting about Groupon only giving him half the cost and told me I'll get poor services going through Groupon. I tried reasoning with him by letting him know I only purchased what I was allowed to & had I known more than one package was an issue I would not have bought multiple. His English was very broken and he didn't seem to care what I had to say. He just kept repeating himself by saying I can use the last two sessions of my one package & pay regular price after that & if I did he could accommodate me making appointments for 1pm. I understand if he is frustrated if Groupon allowed for more packages to be purchased by one customer than they should have or what he wanted to allow, but that is an issue between him and Groupon. And he chooses to be a merchant on Groupon so it's not my fault if Groupon lowballs him on payouts from customers. The owner even told me it's one package "per family" in his rant. Said if I used a package then nobody else in my family could buy one. That's definitely not the terms of these types of services or of Groupon. Buyer beware: don't try this business and definitely don't try them through Groupon should you want to risk it. He definitely makes his own rules, doesn't honor what's advertised and is completely unprofessional by yelling at customers. I'm now trying to get a refund for the 3 packages I bought through Groupon which is proving to be an issue because one of my packages is marked as redeemed even though I only used 1 of the 3 services of the package.
My husband highly recommends Dr. Chang. He listened well and immediately knew where to place needles to address my husband's neck pain and sciatica. Dr. Chang also checked in after placing the needles to make sure my husband was still comfortable. He is very knowledgeable and kind. We will be going back!
Very professional and nice treatment!! He took a health history in detail, and gave me acupuncture treatment enough even I was groupon customer. Cozy and clean atmosphere, absolutely So happy to know this place :)
Acupuncture was my last alternative short of surgery. I have struggled with lower back pains for approximately 17 years, having tried every topical ointment, heat, ice pack, chiropractors, massage therapy, jacuzzies, you name it. But one trip to DR. Chang at Renew Acupuncture and for the first time I left with NO PAIN!!! I had my 2nd treatment today and left he worked my shoulder that I was scheduled to have surgery on in 2 weeks. I left with ZERO pain today. I'm now rethinking whether to follow through with that. Dr. Chang sees me and my wife and his professionalism and and supreme knowledge of pressure points has alleviated 100% of what has ailed us for years! Needless to say we are both grateful to Renew and the staff there. It's a great location and as clean as a hospital. If you're experiencing pain, I would highly recommend you see Dr. Chang. He has literally changed my views on acupuncture.
I've had great results with my upper neck issue. After my second treatment I had mobility in my neck with no pain or stiffness. Dr Chang is very good. I recommend his service's. Thank again for everything.
Probably one of the best Acupuncturist in OC which I am gladly driving across the county to see! Since I have been traveling and moving a bit I have had experiences with plenty of acupuncturists in my life. From these experiences I have learned that there are those acupuncturists that supposedly will fix your problem if you go every week for several months, and there are those like Dr. Chang where you see results in one session. He has treated me for sleep issues among other smaller health disturbances (I have never gone for pain which I know is what many uses acupuncture for). It took me two sessions with Dr. Chang to stop using melatonin and other sleep aids five days a week, and instead fall asleep like a baby in a natural and quick way. Every five weeks or so I might start feeling that my sleep is starting to be less than ideal again. In those cases I just in go for one session and about two days later I am back to sleeping like a baby and I don't see him again for a long while. Not only is his treatments one of the best, he is also a super kind human being who charges very affordable rates for his treatments. You can clearly tell that he is more interested in truly helping you than making money. Dr. Chang is Korean and uses a mixture of Korean and Chinese Acupuncture. In my experience Korean Acupuncture has been the quickest acting form of acupuncture which is why I am so I am glad that he practices it.
Dr chang is very professional and took care of my back pain well

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
