Sophia Jones's Online Review Report Card

I would definitely NOT recommend Dr. Sophia Jones for your pediatrician. Absolutely Terrible! I only had a very short period of time with her but she left a lasting bad impression on me. She was assigned to me at Hoag Newport Beach as the pediatrician for the delivery of my first pregnancy (my actual pediatrician doesn’t do the hospital visit after labor since she is not affiliated with Hoag). The first interaction was shortly after I delivered and I was being transitioned from the delivery room to a new recovery room. There were a couple of nurses in the room, (the delivery nurse transferring me over to the nurse who would be monitoring my recovery). Then at the same time there was also hospital staff in the room dropping off food. As the nurse was giving me directions for the night and care of my newborn, Dr. Jones shows up and just starts talking AT me while I’m still in conversation with my nurse. She had no regard for the nurse and It was complete chaos, I have no idea what she said and then she was gone. The next day Dr. Jones arrives to do a visual check of the baby, and at the time my newborn was laying on my chest doing skin to skin. Without any warning, Dr. Jones plucks my child off my chest, seemingly by the neck and through a loose blanket, with one hand. First, she manhandles my baby and then, since she was grasping her through a really loose blanket, I thought she was going to drop my baby. I yelled, “omg be careful!!!” as I reached out to support my baby’s bottom. She just laughed it off and said “I handle many many babies like this all the time!” I was in absolute shock. I wish I had chastised her in that moment but I was just completely dumbfounded by her actions. She did a 5 minute assessment, told us to take our newborn to get tested for jaundice for the follow day and then left. But not before she swaddled my baby and placed her angled on her SIDE to sleep in the basinet - telling me she likes to do that for spit up reasons. Now I just got a bill for over $400 for this woman to manhandle my child, to disregard my concerns as a new mom, and to recommend placing my baby in an unsafe sleep position. Please keep away!!

My son was admitted into the nicu hours after he was born, and unfortunately there for a total of 10 days, I was discharged after 2 days and like any first time mother who had trouble getting pregnant I was heart broken and obviously SO emotional. Dr. Jones was the neo-natologist for the majority of my sons stay unfortunately! She had the nerve to tell me to stop crying when day after day he wasn't getting discharged, told me not to stay at my moms because she lived "to far" (15 miles from my home), started telling me how she had it worse than me when her kids were in the hospital, and to top it off stood outside my sons cubical and bad mouthed me to the other staff (she didn't know I was in his cubical) I had a horrible experience with her and wouldn't recommend her to my enemies!

Stay away from this insane, uncivilized, moody doctor - there are better well mannered doctors out there.
