List of Jen Spiegel Md's Reviews

About two years ago I had a retina tear, and surgery from a Pacific Eye surgeon to repair it. The surgery turned out badly. Dr. Jennifer A. Spiegel, who performed the surgery said: “it happens” and walked out. Everything in my left eye appears much smaller in size and badly distorted. There are no straight lines in that eye. Every door, picture frame, power pole, anything that is straight, is now bent in several places. I constantly see double flashes of light, sometimes every minute or so. They look like fireflies or meteorites. I have lost my depth perception. Pictures of my retina show my macula is pulled flat on one side, instead of being cup shaped. I have not been able to find any reviews of my surgeon anywhere in the 3 states and the 5 cities where she has practiced in the last 12 years. The only procedure mentioned is LASIK. I cannot find any reference of her ever being a retina specialist before coming to the Central Coast. CHOOSE WISELY. !!!
Unfortunately, she misdiagnosed my myopic degeneration and was very arrogant when I tried to get answers. She actually brushed me off and did not want me to get a second opinion. By the time I realized something was truly wrong, which is why I visited her in the beginning, my eyesight was so severely compromised I can no longer read music—a lifetime passion. She ruined my eyesight which my mother had so carefully tended to for many years. I received only excuses from Dr. Higginbotham that she must have been busy that day. Eyesight is too precious to lose over someone who appears to think she knows what she is doing. Two years later, i still have negative feelings regarding her malpractice in my case and Dr. Higginbotham’s excuses for her.
I had a retina tear surgery from a Pacific Eye surgeon about 10 months ago that turned out badly. Dr. Spiegel said “it happens” and walked out. I now see objects much smaller and quite distorted in one eye. There are no straight lines in my left eye. Photographs of my retina show my macula is flat instead of cup shaped. I have not been able to find any reviews of this surgeon anywhere in the 3 states and the 5 cities she has moved in the last 12 years. The only surgeries mentioned of this doctor is Lasik. Did she move here to reinvent herself? I went a different retina specialist who has impeccable reviews and top grades in his training. I was told I have a stretched retina that it is pulling on my macula, causing the distortion. I cannot read or write without keeping one eye closed. My left eye has become almost useless.
She forgot that she had even seen me. So I got it’s nice to finally meet you? Don’t ask extra question, she told me boy you’re anxious. It’s my first baby. I’m just asking questions. Her ultrasound machine needed new printer paper. God for bid she take of her gloves , or call someone. While the the probe is in me she is fussing with the printer and finally asked me to take a new roll of paper out of the package and remove the sticker. Sure? Why not? I had some issues and not a lot of support from my work. Her and I are in the same field. So she cut me off stuck her hand in my face and told me ,” I know I’m a surgeon.” Oh good then you should completely understand. She cuts you off and passes judgement. They also made me take a urine test, at every station I went to I tried to give someone this year and sample . I did up going home with it in my purse . Just find another doctor.
I was expecting a lot after reading reviews online. However, after getting very confusing and unclear directions on how to proceed with an appointment, I was met with a very defensive response upon pointing out that the doctor forgot to mention something. Going back feels not right at all.
AMAZING! She is one of a kind. Love her like a friend. Would never see anyone else.
I've been a patient of Dr. Spiegel's for three years. She delivered my second baby and took excellent care if me throught my pregnancy and in the weeks after. I've always found her to be caring and light-hearted. She addresses my problems in a caring manner, spending time to explain what's happening I my body. I actually look forward to seeing her, she's easy to talk to, like talking with a friend. She can relate to me as a busy mother and a working professional. I have recommended her to several friends, who also think she's great!!
I have been struggling with infertility for years. She refused to give me a referral to a fertility specialist, and said - to my face - "You know, you're overweight, and you would probably have a kid who would be overweight. You probably got picked on a lot as a kid - would you really want to do that to your child?"For the record, every kid gets picked on for something, and she made me feel worse than any playground bully ever did.
Dr. Spiegel and her assistant are fantastic. She is gentle, caring, and takes time to explain everything to you. I had a miscarriage, and she was so ...

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
