I searched for about a year for a doctor to do my Cataracts taking a personal polI… talked to lots and lots of people. They had either had their cataracts done in the area or knew of someone who had. In the end, Everyone I spoke with that had gone to Dr. Higginbotham spoke highly of his expertise / care and were extremely happy with their results. Not true of all Doctors people talked about! I had both eyes done within about 2 weeks and could not be happier. ??????????
Attentive, proactive, kind and capable. I’ve had various surgeries by dr Higganbotham with wonderful results. I trust him, have referred many people to him and my family members have benefited from his capable care.
Finally! Finally! A doctor who doesn't act like a MACHINE, as seems is the way with health type people. He was actually kind and personable, and didn't treat me like a number! Made me feel right at ease.
Could not be happier. Doctors and nurses are fantastic. I went through detached retina surgery with Dr. Spiegel and cataract surgery with Dr. Higgenbotham. Vision is great. Treated like a king. They do need to get their billing department in order however.
Pacific Eye ruined my vision.I went to Pacific Eye for a problem known as floaters on my right eye.The doctor was eager to perform cataract surgery to "improve" my vision.Right after the doctor performed the cataract surgery; my vision was extremely blurry in the eye that had surgery, and I was left in excruciating pain.I could see much better before they performed that cataract surgery. The only thing Pacific Eye had to say about it was "Surgery was carried out without any complications; sorry you are not happy with the results." Pacific Eye has changed my life forever, for the worst.Every day is a struggle for me, due to my impaired vision. The everyday things I use to do are a challenge now, it is a nightmare. The worst thing is, I am not the only patient who's eyesight they have ruined.I do not recommend Pacific Eye.
Dr. Higginbotham is the consummate professional. He is eager to listen, complete with answers/ explanations and very attentive of his patients.
Overall my experience with Dr. Higginbotham was a good one. From before the procedure to weeks after, he was very helpful and answered all my questions and concerns that I had.
Dr. Higgenbotham and staff are the best. Polite, respectful. Went to one competitor to compare and felt like I was being sold a used car by eye doctors. I had monovision lasic done in June 2015. I had it done in my right eye as my right eye is stronger for distance and my left eye has better close up vision. The right eye sees amazingly well! The surgery was painless and they made me feel so comfortable, even serve chocolates prior to going in. The lasic was hardly felt, the only wierdness was putting in the round frame to hold my eye open. And the cool psychadelic show that your eyes do when they are being lasiced and can't be shut (think pink floyd). I did a trial with contacts to make sure this (one eye lasic) was the right decision. I think it was, I love driving and going into the grocery store without glasses or squinting, and giving up my expensive RX sun and regular glasses: yay. The only regret is that I now wear reading glasses for close up, as my left eye needs my right eye for more support I guess. It's not that bad, and I have been told over time the brain may compensate, but right now, the close up vision is worse than before. The contact trial was actually better than the actual lasic as I didn't need reading glasses for the trial. Maybe the contacts had more close up than the actual surgery which only corrects your distance and basically eliminates any close up distance vision. I have had no side effects such as haloing or even dry eye and the eye is doing great! I have better than 20/15 vision in it, and before I had 20/30, and needed glasses for distance. At the endof the day, I recommend Dr. H and his great staff, Lauri and Connie, and am glad I had the procedure. Consider doing mono vision if it's an option for you (lasic in one eye not both), it is also half the cost$.
I saw another eye clinic in SLO initially, and to say the least, I was not happy. I came to see Dr. Amir on a recommendation from another physician, and am truly amazed at the difference in care. He and his staff are what I would expect from a physician. I have worked in the health care field for almost 30 years. Their policy of informing patients about costs is exactly what I would expect from a quality health care facility. Even their technicians who do their testing are excellent. Finally, Robbi, their Administrative Assistant, flat out rocks. She acts as a sort of go between in informing patients about policies about surgeries, discussing do's and don'ts, reviewing, at length, about costs and insurance considerations. All in all a fine, highly professional organization.
The office staff was very courteous, dr. Higginbotham was friendly, knowledgable and took time to explain my problem. I will certainly recommend him to my friends.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
