Ace Home Health Care's Online Review Report Card

If I could give this company less stars I would. The nurses and home health aides are completely unprofessional. They do not have the patient's interest in mind whatsoever. They come in, do as little as they can, as fast as they can and leave, leaving the family having to complete or redo their work. As long as they get to check off that they completed the appointment to collect their pay, that's all they care about. They are rude, have zero patience and could care less about patient care

We are beyond impressed by the level of professionalism and kindness shown to my 94-year old mother by Ace Home Health and Hospice. They don't just treat the "patient", but work with the whole person with respect and patience. Their quick response in sending a nurse to evaluate her, followed almost immediately by the appropriate therapists, is making her recovery so much easier.  Ace has clearly done a fabulous job of finding great people to staff their organization. From the administration to the nursing and therapy staff, we are extremely impressed. If we have need of home health in the future, we wouldn't consider using anyone else.

Your nurses harass people on social media calling them a cancer in society for their political affiliation. Do you train your nurses to hate republicans? Avoid this businesses if this is how their staff treats random strangers online for their political party. What are they going to do to your loved ones if they’re republicans?

We had been caring for my Dad in our home since 2015 with a long time care giver. My Dad's health deteriorated after an emergency operation in April 2019 and a subsequent Alzheimer diagnosis. In mid-2020 we changed his doctor to Dr. Dhanak of Elder Consult and it was the best thing we have ever done. She is fantastic. When my Dad got a pressure wound on his heel in November 2020 she recommended bringing in a ACE Home Nurse to care for the wound. Sue came in 3 times a week until the end of June along with her supervisor, Sean. They were efficient, caring and we had total confidence in their abilities and suggestions. By June of this year his heel was almost completely healed, but he had a number of other issues including the advancement of the Alzheimer disease and he needed hospice care. ACE Hospice came in and took over care. We can't say enough about the excellent care and patience given by every member of their staff. Noe, Shanae, Kimberly, Kirza (sp?), Robin, Alexea the Social Worker, and Rev. Miller who came in and administered a blessing. My Dad passed recently and the night hospice nurse came in and performed their postmortem routine easing our confusion and anxiety. The ACE nursing and health professionals we had contact with were terrific and we thank them all for the care they gave my Dad and ultimately my family.

The Home Health branch of this company was decent, but we were horrified by the Hospice staff and administrators! They were completely callous and cold-hearted, and were only concerned with making money off my dying father.  As soon as they collected the fee, they discharged him without mercy on a Saturday evening.  He died without comfort as his loved ones watched, and the staff at Ace Hospice did not care at all.  They were vindictive and cruel, and I would not recommend this hospice to my worst enemy. Beware!

Our loved one was diagnosed with terminal cancer less than a month ago. It was her wish to die at home. On the morning of April 28, 2021, her doctors said it was urgent she enter hospice immediately in order to get home in time. Because Kaiser didn’t have openings in their own Hospice, they provided a list of vetted trusted agencies and recommended Ace Hospice in Orinda. By 7pm that evening, she arrived home with a hospital bed, oxygen and palliative meds. Her case manager Kimberly carefully explained which meds to give when. She provided very precise explanations of symptoms and how much of each med to offer. The booklet listed each med in descending order of importance along with explanations of symptoms and dosages. There was a page to record each dosage given. Because of the extraordinary efforts of Oakland Kaiser, the transport team who had to figure how to safely transport her up steep stairs, Kimberly and Ace Hospice, our loved one was able to die at home surrounded by family and without unnecessary suffering.Sent from my iPhone

A close friend living with me received care from Ace Home Health. She had waited over 2 weeks for a call back from another agency that her doctor had recommended. When she reach out to Ace within a few hours her insurance was verified and an appointment was made with a therapist who came out to evaluate her within 24 hours.All of the staff were respectful, timely and compassionate. We would highly recommend this agency to friends and family.

My partner has been on hospice care with Ace for 18 months and lives in a memory care facility in Oakland. Since going on hospice, she’s been unable to communicate or perform any activities of daily life. The Ace team supporting both of us is exemplary. Her health care aide not only attends to her hygiene but more than once spotted the beginnings of a bedsore and communicated that to her nurse for early and effective treatment. Her nurse is kind and and gentle with Maureen, and keeps me informed after every visit, answering whatever questions I have, even between visits. When some more urgent concern arises, Ace has been immediately responsive to both the facility and my calls. The social worker has helped me immeasurably through some really hard times. And I can’t say enough about the medical director Dr. Dhanak. Her philosophy of care is to ensure every patient’s quality of life in the moment and as their time goes on. Your family member couldn’t be in better hands.
