List of Yenjean Hwang's Reviews
Dr. Hwang is one of the most gentle and understanding Doctor I've come across. I highly recommend her.
Dr. Hwang is the best around for infectious diseases. She helped me through a difficult infection to good healing. She is kind, compassionate, wise, and dedicated to her patients.
This is an update to my 2013 review of Dr. Hwang. She is still my doctor and I still have the highest regard for her. She has pulled me back from the brink of death several times. I continue to be very grateful that she is my doctor. It IS really a shame about the office staff. They do leave you on hold for long periods of time and treat you like you are only there to ruin their day. There are several doctors in this office - so I don't blame Dr. Hwang for this.
Dr. Hwang is simply GOLD, the cream of the crop, the most committed and deeply caring physician, who is also super talented, skilled, tenacious, wise, and smart. She once told me that she treats her clients as if they were her family members - and it shows big time! Dr. Hwang has not only been my sole primary care doctor for the past 14 years, but she was first my husband's primary care (before me). He suffered from secondary progressive multiple sclerosis. Had it not been for Dr. Hwang's amazing care, he would have suffered needlessly and been subjected to many indignities and hospitalizations due to his progressing illness, compromised immune system, and frequent infections. Dr. Hwang made it possible for my husband to receive many medical services at home, including oxygen and IV medications, along with AIM (a pre-hospice organization through Sutter/Alta Bates) to improve the quality of his life. He finally died in 2006 of complications caused by M.S. But I am eternally grateful to her for providing such loving care to him, and now to me. She hasn't changed in the 20 years that I have known her. She is a dedicated, exceptional doctor of immense talent and great compassion. I give her 10 stars!!! *****
I can't remember how I found Dr. Hwang, but she has been my infectious disease doctor for probably 20 years now or close to it. I became unable to work sometime around 2004. I was misdiagnosed by other doctors and even received unacceptably rude treatment. Dr. Hwang championed my cause and now I am never disrespected. Also, none of my other doctors can believe I am still alive because I have a complicated medical history! She is the most brilliant physician I have ever met - and I've worked with doctors for 50 years. She is a fabulous diagnostician and she really can think outside the box. There is a long list of drugs I cannot take, and Dr. Hwang has helped me to find drugs that DO work and are safe for me. She listens to me carefully and like the other reviewer said, she treats me like family. Throughout the years I have heard from other doctors about how Dr. Hwang was able to diagnose a particularly difficult case. She is without a doubt my most trusted and favorite doctor. She has a heart as big as all outdoors. I feel very lucky to have her as my doctor.

Doctor is difficult to get appointments with. Wait times are long and front office staff is not very polite.
There's not a better doctor in the area, hands-down. Dr. Hwang has helped me navigate two huge health scares, being my complete advocate and an absolute expert in her field.
I was referred to Dr. Hwang by my neurologist due to increased bronchial infections that I was hospitalized for4 times in the past 18 months. She was very empathetic, thorough, a great listener and explained every action and test she was ordering completely. My story will continue and I know I am in good hands with Dr. Hwang.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
