This medical group is the most incompetent business I have ever experienced. When you call for an appointment you might as well be trying to talk to the president of the United States. Forget it. They use Desert imaging and when you call for an appointment at Desert imaging and our later you might obtain an appointment for two months down the road. If you’re ill and need to see a physician forget it. Just go to ER. I cannot wait until I can get the hell out of Empire Medical Group (now known as Optum). I have never filed more grievances, other than Kaiser Empire tries to make you wait far past their LEGALLY required timeframes. (I just got told I cannot get an ultrasound earlier than 28 business days -- twice as long as required by the Department of Managed Health Care. For psychotherapy, there were only two LCSWs in all of the Palm Springs area and the wait time was more than 25 business days. Empire expects you to file a grievance or accept it violating Department of Health Care timeframes repeatedly. I'd say more, but I can't curse them. For the most part this medical group has been good at getting us the correct referrals on time for my husband‘s heart condition. We do however have one problem and that is when we call them directly instead of Scan they have continually told us that they would update our address. We began this six months ago and as of today, we had to have Scan officials call them directly in order for them to get it corrected. This is been frustrating because we were supposed to receive several different important papers from them and I’m sure they went to the old address. Horrible, disappointing, ridiculous behaviour and attitude towards me from this physicians group. I have been attempting now for weeks to schedule an appointment with my physician (Dr. Sabbah) via telephone (messages are ignored and never returned), email and patient portal (messages are ignored and never returned), physically visited the office (door was locked with a sign on it stating: "By Appointment Only with the office telephone number listed - see above!)". Yet, I could see people in the office! In other words, office staff was there but with the doors locked so they would have to actually talk with, much less help one of their own patients! Upon contacting the "head office" for EPMG all I was able to do was to file a grievance via customer support.. unable or unwilling to forward me to a supervisor or senior official whom might (?!) give a hoot and intervene on my behalf. Now, if ever, will I receive any response to my issue? In the meantime, I am NOT receiving the medical care that I require. My sense is that if you are on a Medicare Advantage plan, then EPMG ONLY cares about collecting the monthly/ quarterly premium from the insurance company, minimizing or ignoring the costs associated with providing patient services and could care less about the health and needs of their patients. Is that what "doctoring" has become?! BTW, upon calling EPMG corporate office I was disconnected two times and not called back, so apparently this pattern of behavior is not limited to the individual doctor's office but rather endemic to the entire organization. If I could have given this review a "zero" I would based on my own personal experiences. Beware, avoid and if you have also been mis-treated by EPMG or any one of their doctors then do, write and say something! Unmitigated incompetence in many areas. Avoid this medical group at all costs. I obtained a specialist referral in October, and have yet to receive proper, respectful treatment. Absolutely unacceptable. I have given up, and changed to an alternative medical group. Who has time for this nonsense? Would rather see a witch doctor. No one there communicates with each other.

I have to say, in my experience, EPMG has been beyond excellent...This year, so far, I've had cancer (gone now) 2 Major Surgeries, many many radiology visits, and multiple doctors, and doctor visits...I've had 100% excellent, fast and efficient help, quick, professional phone call response...I'm very greatful for Empire Physicians Medical Group... Thank You. This Medical Group was the decision maker to put our mom in a skilled nursing facility located over 2 hours drive away and never returned our multiple phone calls requesting a facility "IN" her network 20 minutes away. She was already suffering depression (we told them) and with Covid, being able to visit often was needed BECAUSE WE CAN ONLY VISIT THROUGH A WINDOW. But, they didn't even give us the courtesy to hear us, they didn't have the decency to return our calls. In fact, I finally spoke to Kate live today, and she gave a lame excuse that she couldn't talk to us without power of attorney, which we could have gotten had they told us it was needed. We work, so now in order to help our mom's morale (she's 89 and just survived an abdominal aortic aneurysm that burst), we must find time when we can make the long drive up to the 4500' level and down to the desert (over 2 hours away with the windy altitude climb)to sit in an unshaded 108° patio area, when she could have been 20 minutes up the road in 75° weather and we could have visited several times during the week. DON'T TAKE AN ADVANTAGE MEDICARE PLAN. THESE PEOPLE CONTROL WHERE THE PATIENT GOES AND DON'T TAKE INTO ACCOUNT WHAT'S BEST FOR THE PATIENT. THEY ALSO DISREGARD THE RIGID POLICIES DUE TO COVID WHICH FURTHER RESTRICT FAMILIES, SO BEING CLOSER IN NETWORK WAS THE RIGHT ANSWER.I turn 65 next July and so do many many of my peers. I'm a Realtor and well known in the. Church community. I am telling every person who is getting Medicare next year to make sure this Medical Group is not part of their choice list. I always get helpful people at EPMG, they seem to do their best between the doctors and the insurances. It's a hard job and I appreciate them.
