List of Amy Adams's Reviews
My wife went to Dr. Amy Adams in December 2019 for her acne. She had contacted the department and shared all her insurance information with dermatology front desk and confirmed that this doctor is "in-network" with her insurance plan. Even upon arriving for treatment, she re-confirmed the same. However, later in January, we got a bill that this doctor is out-of-network for your plan and we have to pay fees. In addition, there were couple of lab tests recommended by the doctor (which happened as part of the same visit) which also later as part of the bill we got to know were out of network. How are we supposed to know if the person conducting those tests would be in-network / out-of-network. Should we sneak inside the lab and make sure to ask technicians as well if they are in-network ?Definitely would not recommend going here (mainly because we were lied to our faces). Do NOT think we can "TRUST" the doctor and her office anymore.
I went to Dr. Adams about 7 years ago while I was struggling with acne during my middle and high school years. I felt like she cared but didn't seem super interested and also seemed a bit rushed. She's just talked and didn't look at my skin up close. Furthermore, the treatment she prescribed wasn't that effective and I found a much better solution through a nurse practitioner while getting laser hair removal. I could never say that she's a bad doctor, however I do feel like she's a bit selective about her interests. I think it's fine to go to her with more complex issues, but for simpler things like acne she might not be quite as helpful.
Thorough, kind, treats each patient as her equal.
If I could give "0" for Dr. Adams AND her office, I would. My son has eczema, and it's chronic, and I needed to have a refill of a prescription for his flare up. My pharmacy faxed the scrip over to the office, and no response. for a solid week, no response. I call the office on their business hours on Saturday, to inquire about the non response, only to be told it will be escalated. The following Monday, I receive a call from their office indicating that the script has been denied, because they want me to schedule a follow up appt. It would seem to me that the decent thing to do would be to allow to fill the prescription, and make sure to schedule a follow up. Afterall, this cream is not some crazy opiod....it's a CREAM and unfortunately, the only cream that seems to settle my son's flare up. So, after a solid week of no response, all of the sudden, they want to bill me and my insurance company for a "follow" up visit. This is terrible customer service. So.....I would not recommend this office due to their lack of patient follow up. Now, to review Dr. Adams, I would just recommend you look at the unfavorable reviews of her care, as they are true. She is uninterested, not passionate, and couldn't care less about what she does....and it shows....
She told me my rash was most likely a reaction to elastic or something. Turns out it is myeloma. She rushed me through with no follow up. Good thing I got a second opinion!
This doctor seems tired and uninterested.I was not impressed with the level of care and my issue was only resolved on a surface level.
Dr. Adams is an outstanding Dermatologist. Both my wife and I have been going to her for years, even after we moved away from Palo Alto, and we've been very happy. She's friendly, knowledgeable, professional, down to earth, and she never rushes interactions with patients. You won't find a smarter doctor - she went to Harvard Medical School (#1 in the country, with a 4% acceptance rate), and it shows in the way she answers questions and approaches tricky questions/problems. She is up to speed on all of the latest trends such as the Environmental Working Group product database, so she can recommend the safest products for you and your family. I highly recommend Dr. Adams.
I am flummoxed that Dr. Adams has received a couple of poor reviews. In my two brief encounters with Dr. Adams, she has performed her role as dermatologist in an exemplary manner. The gripes of the other two reviewers seem more germane to our current incarnation of corporate healthcare: As an employee of PAMF, Dr. Adams is duty-bound to expedite time spent with patients. Furthermore, misdiagnoses are inevitable for even the most experienced physicians. Especially in an inexact field like dermatology, Dr. Adams cannot correctly diagnose, treat, and permanently relieve the symptoms of all patients.
incompetent and uncaring. just wanted to get me out of her office as quickly as possible. I had to go to another dermatologist. It's a good thing I did, one of my problems could have killed me. go to someone else. I was lucky to find Dr. Divya_Railan in Palo Alto. She is a wonderful doctor.
Dr. Adams has done a great job with my family. She took the time to listen to symptoms and gave the correct diagnosis and treatment for something that had been misdiagnosed and treated unsuccessfully for years. Other doctors who were in a hurry just followed what prior people had done or assumed and so my son did not get the right treatment until we saw Dr. Adams. A nice kind person too.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
