List of Christie Coleman's Reviews
Best OBGYN in the Bay Area. Ive been seeing her my entire pregnancy - she is very detail oriented, explains everything thoroughly, and the best in her craft! Thank you Dr Coleman
My case: hysterectomy with removals of bowel adhesions. (6-4-21) My Result: acute diagnosis and excellent operation performance The way she is: contagiously vital, incredibly intelligent and kind. After she patiently explained all details of the surgery process in the pre-op appt, she patted on my shoulder and said, “ I can’t wait to see you in two weeks after the surgery. “ She soothed an agitated heart by fast forwarding the procedure process and set up a bright outlook. Doctor and patient relationship is mutual. Dr Coleman gives her gratitude by deeply caring for her patients and servicing the community with her excellence in medicines! The minimum gratitude I could do for us and for her is to let people know how lucky we are to have a great doctor like her.
I really can't say enough about how amazing Dr. Coleman is. After reading her Yelp reviews, I waited 6 months to get an appointment with her because I knew that when I got pregnant I wanted to be in great hands. Little did I know getting and staying pregnant would be hard for me, but she gave me amazing care through two miscarriages and, most important, took note of the fact that my age meant I didn't have much more time to waste and encouraged me to try IVF (and provided several great recommendations for clinics, along with her personal take on the doctors). Because of the gentle push she gave me, I was able to have a baby that I honestly don't think I would have otherwise. My pregnancy was uneventful but she made sure to tell me to get a blood pressure cuff and keep an eye on my blood pressure postpartum. I'm so glad I did because I ended up having preeclampsia and having to be hospitalized. All the doctors and nurses at the hospital praised me for being aware and catching it but again, Dr. Coleman gets all the credit. I now know that most OBs don't give the kind of advice she does. At every single appointment throughout this experience, I felt like I was her only patient. I'm actually a bit jealous reading these reviews and seeing that she has an amazing connection with EVERY patient -- I thought we had something special! : ) She was never rushed and always gave me personalized advice and answered all my questions and then encouraged me to ask more. And even though she obviously sees pregnant women every single day, she truly made me feel like she was over the moon with excitement over my baby specifically. I can honestly say I look forward to my postpartum checkups and getting a chance to see her. When I've had to see other doctors in the practice, they've been really great too.

As a patient it is incredibly important to not only have a doctor who is knowledgeable, but also kind and compassionate. Finding an amazing doctor is even more important as a breast cancer patient. I feel like I hit the jackpot with finding Dr. Coleman. She is incredibly helpful and she put me at ease during my visit. I was very concerned about some of my side effects that I was experiencing and concerned about possibilities of ovarian cancer too. She had all the information and ordered tests that would give us answers before the cancer would be serious. She is very down to earth and yet professional. She made me feel comfortable. With my treatment I was seeing multiple doctors and frequently. She was a breath of fresh air. I had not been to a gynecologist for years because of some not so wonderful experiences. I wish I had found her earlier. I feel fortunate to be under her care.
Dr. Coleman is every good thing that everyone has said below. If you happen to get her on a rotation while giving birth at Stanford, you couldn't be in more capable or kind hands! So why two stars? Read on for the drama! Or skip to the TL;DR at the end. After a very traumatic 5-day labor and ultimate c-section with a 10.5 pound first baby, I chose Dr. Coleman to be my surgeon for my second (scheduled) c-section as soon as I knew I was pregnant. With huge babies, she recommended I not go past 40 weeks and maybe even schedule early. I knew her calendar was complicated, so I scheduled out all my appointments as far out as I could--meaning I had no fewer than 3 months of appointments scheduled at any given time. Since 5 weeks pregnant, and every time I saw her after, I had her assurance that she would be in the OR with me.Of all my appointments, I can count on one hand those that weren't rescheduled, and most were rescheduled a few hours prior to the appointment. Of course, I can be super flexible with advanced changes and understand OR schedules don't come out as far in advance as I scheduled. Even the occasional emergency reschedule (she's an OB, right? I WANT her to be available for the urgent patients!) is no problem. But when those reschedulings happen the day of almost every appointment, something is wrong in your office. Dr. Coleman has a nurse working for her who manages her calendar. I saw her at almost every appointment, and she never failed to be rude, unkind, and short with me. When I had some worrying news halfway through my pregnancy, she basically suggested I get over it or get an abortion. I should have reported that to Dr. Coleman at the time, but that would have required me speaking to Dr. Coleman, and this woman wouldn't let me until my next appointment. Emails go to the nursing staff (I get that, for triage purposes), but mine were too frequently filtered out. Calls to the office go unanswered, and messages aren't returned...or they're returned by someone without answers. Just a few days after my 32-week appointment with Dr. Coleman where she was lovely, knowledgeable, so kind, and assured me again of her availability for my c-section, I got a call from the front desk to reschedule my final pregnancy appointment. After a few more questions, I learned she'd be out of town that whole week, including the day of my scheduled c-section. I asked for a call back from the doctor, since she'd previously said it wasn't safe to wait that long (hulk-size babies, remember?). I said I'd be available over the next few days to talk. Well, I shouldn't have been surprised that I received a call from her nurse instead, who told me to "just hope you don't go into labor" before 41 weeks, and why wouldn't I just schedule with her office partners? After a lot of crying over the next couple weeks--at this point I had totally fallen in love with Dr. Coleman, scheduled childcare, and bought plane tickets for grandmas--I found a new OB. I never heard from Dr. Coleman.TL;DR: I would never recommend my friends visit this office unless Dr. Coleman seriously cuts back her patient load. I'd love her to be my OB, but great patient care takes time she just doesn't have.
Dr Coleman has a delightful warm bedside manner. She does not feel hurried and will take the time to answer your questions.
I was so unhappy with this doctor that I changed ob/gyn mid-pregnancy. It felt like every time I'd come in - she had no idea who I was. She's impatient, careless and doesn't really listen to you. I also was not a fan of her bedside manner. It looks like she runs a private practice within PAMF, so she overbooks and then you have to book follow-ups with other Drs from her team. She also NEVER responds to your emails or phone calls herself and has her assistants do it.Another thing - she delivers at Stanford, that doesn't guarantee a private room post birth, so chances are you'll have a roommate and another crying baby and family right next to you.
Dr Coleman is amazing. She is intelligent, very knowledgeable, adaptable, warm, thorough, kind, personable and has a great sense of humor! She was very attentive to all aspects of our interaction. She reviewed my chart thoroughly before my visit, took the time to clarify anything in it that was unclear and made recommendations for the remaining of my pregnancy based on patient history. I liked her so much that I transferred care to her!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
