Very good dr. Shows he cares. Spends time with you and will answer all your questions in a way you can understand. He specializes in Chiari ! The best in Michigan! No leaks.. wont push surgery! I cant say enough great things about him. Saved my life. Also my daughter and son who all needed chiari decompressions. Did so well. Cant thank him enough!

Dr Maher is the best, he has done all of my hydrocephalus surgeries and did my chiari decompression, he did my 14 year olds sons decompression and my 23 year old daughters decompression, he is very careful and clean with surgery. He takes his time , no rushing , he has O leaks as he leak tests. Hes busy but sees patiants in a timely matter , he not pushy and will try everything els before surgery. Having hydrocephalus I've gotton to know him well. He trully cares for us . He will listen to you and give his best educated advice.

I love this man. We had visited several other surgeon's before finding Dr. Maher. Two of the other surgeons said my son's condition was to complex and out of their realm of expertise. Their bed side manners were horrible as they wished us luck. The next 2 were ready to perform a surgery that would be life changing. The Doctor from Children's in Detroit had the hospital calling the house before we arrived from the consult to schedule the surgery. Through a lot of tears and prayers, Dr. Maher was our last consult. He was the only surgeon to thoroughly exam my son. After 20+ minutes of intense testing. He said, and I quote, "I won't touch him. Does he have an issue? Yes. But the message from the brain to body is being delivered accordingly." He gave us a small list of things to avoid. But otherwise, our son is living life. We were on a 12 month schedule, then 2 years for updated MRI's and a consult. Its been approximately 7 years since the terrifying discovery. My son is in college doing all the things a young adult can and should be doing. If you are in need of a surgeon for your child, please trust this man's opinion and knowledge. His bed side manners are comforting and warm. Our experience shows he's not in it for the money, Dr. Maher truly cares about your child and his or her's well-being. Dr. Maher has been a blessing to us. P.S. We love his nurse/assistant Bela too. She's there to answer our questions and give direction. Fantastic team these two.

Best Neurosurgeon I've ever been Too? I trust him with my kids as well, he will listen to you and cares very much ! He will try hard to help you get better ! He has operated on me and my daughter , for chiari malformation, and for me a shunt and icp moniter . would highly recommend him .

Dr. Maher is amazing! He has great bedside manner and was able to make our daughter feel comfortable and confident about having surgery to remove her brain tumor. She had a quick recovery (2 days in the hospital & 2 weeks before returning to school) and has been doing wonderful! Now we are 1 1/2 years after surgery and just have to go back for periodic MRIs and check ups. We are so thankful for him and his staff!
