This doc shoots from the hip. His first impression is also his final diagnosis. He confidently slaps you with the diagnoses that ought to be the diagnoses of exclusion. If one does not explain all the symptoms, by God, he will award you another one. Unempathetic and supercilious. Beware
Complete waste of time/ Card carrying narcissist. Lies on reports
My son had been a patient with LPCH for over a year already when his condition began to lose a lot of blood due to a previously failed gtube surgery done ar another hospital in which his bowels and stomached were left perforated.i knew from previous experience that he needed to transferred to PICU to manage his level of care and to begin blood transfusion. I asked his nurse at the time why this wasn’t happening and he told me”probably because of his DNR status” I said what DNR, you know he is full code, right?” His answer was that the doctor had placed a verbal order on my son for DO NOT RESSESSITATE... When I complained about this to patient services, he physically hurt my child in front of me out of retaliation. One evil man in my book
Disappointed in Stanford... I must say! Dr is condescending, doesn’t have a growth mindset & practices puppy mill medicine in true Stanford fashion. He should just retire already.
Dr. Bass is responsible for diagnosing our daughters serious Celiac condition with little time to spare. We credit him for this extremely important diagnosis including his expertise and especially his professionalism. Dr. Bass sees patients currently (as of 3/17) at Lucille Packard Stanford Pediatrics (GI) office as well as at Palo Alto Medical Foundation Clinic, Pediatrics, in Palo Alto. This is very important to know as both offices take (as well as exclude) different insurances. If scheduling with PAMF you will need to contact their Pediatrics dept. directly. The PAMF GI unit does not see kids, and their web site doesn't show Dr. Bass on staff on their web site. If you have any pediatric gastroenterology needs, I personally think that Dr. Bass may be one of the best specialists in the Bay area. We are so appreciative to have his support and attention.
Let me tell you about our experience. My daughter was 3 years old at the time . She was in a lot of pain, she would cry when she was using the bathroom, she was having blood in her stool, her face was puffy. We had no clue what was wrong, we are from Santa Cruz, and had a Dr run the same test over and over again and they could not find what the matter was. My dads friend who was a Dr here in Santa Cruz referred us to Stanford to see Dr Bass within days we were up there , and she was diagnosed with Crohns Disease. Our beautiful baby had to have a colonoscopy, she ended up being put on prednisone. Our daughter is now 15 years old and no longer is on any medication and has not had any flare ups . She is healthy and beautiful . I am SO thankful for Dr. Bass and his team. Dr. Bass is truly an angel. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts
Kind and compassionate
Dr Bass and the staff at Lucile Packard Chilrens Hospital/Stanford saved my daughter's life. He and his staff are very caring.
Dr. Bass HAS THE BEST personality & always makes time for us even if we don't have an appointment
Dr. Bass is a pediatric GI (gastroenterologist) i.e kids tummy doctor. He is with LPCH's Medicine Specialities. Dr. Bass has is very laid back, mild mannered and a very experienced doctor. My first experience at his office was with one of the RN's and it was horrible. I have posted it elsewhere. However, after I returned to him for a second visit with my little boy, we were very pleased with him. If you want a doctor who banks on more diagnostic testing and who like to get to the bottom of every single tummy disorder, Dr. Bass may not be your guy. He generally avoids invasive testing (at least he did in our case) but does prescribe a proper treatment. Well that's why we all like experienced doctors, right?

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
