List of Gale Hylton, Md's Reviews
Dr. Gale Hylton is a marvel of insight, empathy, and sincerity. I could add that she is no-nonsense, but really it is devotion, and I've shared many a laugh with her over the years. She is not a rigid, silent psychiatrist of the old school but a human being who happens to have an intuitive and observant grasp of her companion human beings. and hailing from Virginia, can talk Civil War lore with the best of them. She is profusely available for phone calls from home or via Zoom. I think I've caught here in only two mistakes over several years, and, unlike other shrinks she readily apologizes--making herself all the more human. Her consulting cottage is a little gem; she has less of an "attitude" than anyone I've ever met; and she is a cat's best friend (don't worry, she leaves them at her home). As I'm using a cane now, she accompanies me out to the parking lot, reminding me to go slow. What a serious (in the best sense) and delightful person!
Dr. Hylton is the best there is. Unparalleled experience and expertise. I trust her absolutely. She's assisted me through all of ife's ups and downs.
Excellent psychiatrist. Patient centered, professional, very knowledgable, keeps up with current research, excellent knowledge of medication.
Highly qualified, professional and capable. Her focus centers completely on patient care.
Dr. Hylton is an excellent clinician and is highly capable in psychopharmacology. She is very committed to her patients care and well being. I consider myself fortunate to be working with her.
Hands down the best Psychiatrist I've ever seen. Knowledgeable, compassionate, intelligent, I could go on and on. In addition to being an excellent therapist, she also does medication support.
I have been with Dr. Hylton for at least 15 years. She is one of the smartest therapists I have ever met and I need someone highly intelligent to challenge me to think about looking at my problems in unique ways. I have been thrilled to work with her, she has always been prompt about refilling my meds (even as I have changed medical insurances numerous times), and she is always available to chat about issues that need urgent attention. I recommend her very highly
I've very grateful for Dr. Hylton. I've seen her for the last 14 years. I was with her at Palo Alto Medical Foundation and followed her when she went into private practice. I now get both medication management and therapy from her and see her about once every 3 weeks. She is amazing at her profession. Things I like about her: 1. Got me on the right meds on her first try (I had tried other things with other psychiatrists that didn't work). 2. Talks straight. My therapy with her has very little navel gazing and a lot of practical advice. She will tell you what she thinks. 3. Is available in a crisis. I've had family or friends call her on her emergency line and she has been easy to get and has given excellent advice that got me through the stumble. 4. Does support work promptly: refilling prescriptions, returning calls, writing letters. 5. Makes me feel like I'm empowered. We make decisions together. 6. Runs on-time. I will caution you that she doesn't often take new patients and she takes a while to return new patient phone call inquiries.

I was a patient of Dr. Hylton at PAMF for several years. She is an excellent medical psychiatrist. Her practice with me was mainly about prescribing and adjusting medications. I understand she is now going into psychotherapy. I have no experience with her in that area. At one pint I needed letters, forms and even legal testimony to document my condition. Dr. Hylton responded to these needs with sensitivity and utmost professionalism, I was not even charged for her time on these matters. While she was at PAMF my visits with her were usually quite short, only about 15 minutes. I would have liked them to be longer but understood that her practice was of medicine not counseling. I wish her all the best in her transition to psychotherapy. I expect she will be very good at it.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
