List of Helen F. Yeni-Komshian, Md's Reviews
In contrast to another review, I found filling out forms about how I was feeling to be really useful for finding out what was working and what wasn't. The forms didn't take me long, and I generally did them outside of the session, and often the discussion of them only took 1 or 2 minutes during the session. If you want to know more about the good reasons for why Dr. Yeni-Komshian uses them, check out episode 2 of the Feeling Good podcast by Dr. David Burns.

Helen has also been a guest on the Feeling Good podcast. If you want to get a sense of what therapy might look like, listen to the episodes she's in but even more so the episodes with live sessions, which have actual therapy. Just search for "live session" and/or "Helen" on the page listing podcast episodes at feelinggood.com Lastly, Helen does mainly use cognitive-behavioral therapy, specifically TEAM-CBT, but she does use other methods as well, like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

Dr. Yeni-Komshian is, in my experience, an excellent therapist. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and without using medications, she led me to a quick and successful resolution of a bad chronic anxiety disorder. She is expert at CBT, and she did a great job teaching me how to use CBT to unravel anxiety. She is smart, intuitive, insightful, and caring. I am deeply grateful to her.

Dr. Yeni-Komshian is an amazing psychiatrist. I've known her since 2004 as a colleague and have had the privilege of seeing her in action on more than one occasion during psychotherapy classes she has taught to psychiatry trainees. She brings seasoned expertise plus compassion and sensitivity to her work and I wouldn't hesitate to send a family member to her!
I met Dr. Yeni-Komshian in 2002 when we were both training with Dr. David Burns at Stanford University. Since that time, we have collaborated in the treatment of patients and instructed residents and PsyD trainees at Stanford. Helen's gentle, kind, thoughtful and sensitive approach to empathy make her an outstanding listener and therapist. Additionally, she practices evidence-based psychotherapy, including advanced psychometric measurements that take the guesswork out of the therapeutic process. She is an astute observer and skillful at conceptualizing complicated cases and helping individuals with multiple co-occurring problems. Finally, she is extremely skillful in the most advanced motivational methods as well as dozens of cognitive, interpersonal and behavioral methods. The depth and breadth of her knowledge and experience make her an excellent choice as a therapist for individuals suffering from relationship problems, unwanted habits and addictions, anxiety, depression and other mood disorders. I'm proud to know Dr. Yeni-Komshian and to have had the chance to collaborate with her in patient care, train alongside her and to teach the next generation of therapists with her.
I had a terrible experience with Dr. Yeni-Komshian. For two major reasons. You must understand she is a strict behavior psychiatrist. You will have to fill out forms about how you are feeling before you start a session and then the same form after you end the session. I spent 20 out 50 min session on this and didn't ever get to talk about why I was depressed. For $350. She put me on a drug that caused significant weight gain and sexual side effects and basically torpedoed my marriage.
I had a terrible experience with Dr. Yeni-Komshian. You must understand she is a strict behavior psychiatrist. You will have to fill out forms about how you are feeling before you start a session and then the same form after you end the session. Plus an evaluation of how she did each time you met! Then spend time in your session talking through your forms! I spent 20 out of my 50 min session on this and didn't ever get to talk about why I was there. For $350! Needless to say I only met with her a few times.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
