Dr. Hartford is the very best. He repaired my broken arthritic body several times. Contemplating another but would fly back as I have moved to another state.

I'm only 4 weeks post-op (at 6 weeks I will be considered officially "recovered"), but can confidently say that I had a great experience with Dr. Hartford, both as an orthopedic doctor consulting on my hip dysplasia and osteoarthritis, but for my hip replacement surgery itself. If you're considering hip replacement, look no further, I highly recommend him. My only constructive criticism is, his 2 assts, Emily and Alison, are very sweet, but are sometimes hard to get ahold of and are often very rushed on the phone, which was a tad disappointing (perhaps they need to hire a 3rd person to help them out?). Post-op, I must commend PA-C Jennifer Chin and PA-C Reilly Loomis, both of whom were super responsive and helpful to my issues. Much appreciated.

I walk about 30 miles a week and do 15 to 20 miles long bike rides. My recovery went smoothly and Dr. Hartford does a great job with pain management. I remained comfortable following the surgery without experiencing high levels of pain. The office staff is always responsive and great to work with. I highly recommend Dr. Hartford for hip replacement surgery.

I just wanted to update my 2/28/17 review that was 2 months' post op.Still - not the first: pinch of pain; flexion/turning/mobility or strength issues; general crankiness; or anything other than a new knee. I never think of it, even though the rest of me is 'out of warranty' due to Mother Nature. Can't say enough about him.

Dr. James Hartford is an amazing surgeon! From the first appointment I was impressed by his knowledge, professionalism and kind demeanor. He and his team are very caring, compassionate and professional. I had a total hip replacement on my birthday, the whole team came to pre-op and sang me happy birthday. It was so nice of them! I've never had surgery before but this caring team made it bearable. My new hip is the best birthday present ever!

He is a gift from heaven . He restored my bf's life by doing a total hip replacement. Everything went perfect and my bf and I can now enjoy the rest of our lives . He's amazing !

He is very professional yet friendly . Glad he is not one of those surgeons that recommends surgery just to make money. That's one ethical doctor .

Dr. Hartford is the BEST doctor we have ever met. I did a lot of research on knee replacement surgery for my mom. I know there's a surgeon in Fremont, but there were as many negative reviews as the ads he did for himself. I feel they put too much emphasis on money. Anyway, we were very lucky to enter Dr. Hartford's office. He's nice, friendly, professional and experienced. His staff were all very nice. You know immediately you are at good hands. My mom was not for a minute hesitant or nervous of the surgery. She first had her right knee replaced. It was perfect! She had a very quick and smooth recovery. She liked it so much that she decided to have the other surgery a few months later. It was another success. Our whole family love Dr. Hartford, and his humor. During the last office visit, my parents had a photo with him as a "souvenir" of the great experience. It has been almost two years now and she's never felt pain any more. She even lost her walking cane that she had used years before the surgeries. We have always felt so fortunate that we had Dr. Hartford!
