List of Karen F. Han's Reviews
Dr. Karen Han saved my life today. I have been seeing her for over 10 years. I had seen 7 other dermatologists in the Bay Area, including the one that mis-diagnosed my melanoma/stage three, 23 years ago. When I received my first skin check from from Dr. Han I noticed that she did so many things the others did not. She looked between my toes, all through my hair and my private area. None of the others did this. I had a flat birthmark sort of looking, small mark on my shoulder, which turned out to be melanoma - stage zero. I don't know what would've happened to me if she had not put me on a skin check schedule of every three months. I also receive full body pet scans - every so often. Dr Han is an extraordinary physician. I highly recommend her... she might save your life.(Sidebar - melanoma is one of the most deadly cancers, of all)
I've been seeing Dr. Han for many years. She's very attentive and knowledgeable. I have light eyes and have worked in commercial fishing in Florida so skin cancer monitoring is always a concern and she stays on top of it eliminating pre-cancerous growths. The one time she did have a sample come back positive I went in for MOHS surgery with another PAMF doctor and was fortunate that the cancer was entirely removed by the sample.
I have been seeing Dr. Han since 2013 after a friend recommend her. I have had nothing but positive experiences with her. I have been getting full body checks for over 20 years. I was confident in her abilities at our first visit and that if there is anything suspicious, she will take care of it right away. She is on a tight schedule and is still very personable and has a great bedside manner. She takes the time to listen to your concerns and act accordingly.
I visited Karen Han MD and was kept waiting first 20 minutes in the waiting room and then another 20 minutes in the exam room. Finally 40 minutes after my appointment she arrived. She was nice enough and had all the tech including dictating with google glass. She however has no bedside manner and is so grossly incompetent that her license should be taken away. She examined me and then told me she needed to freeze most of both my ears and parts of my face and even my lips. I was terrified. She also told me to see an eye doctor as light colored eyes can also get melanomas in their eyes. I of course went immediately to an eye doctor who in not so many words called her an idiot for saying that to me. It is extremely rare. She proceeded to freeze my ears with liquid nitrogen and kept saying ow over and over as she inflicted great pain on me. It was very weird. My ears felt like they had been blow torched and I told her there was no way she was doing my face today. After it was over she left. No pain Meds offered not even aspirin and no instructions for after care. I walked out to the front desk my ears literally radiating pain and had to ask to see her again to get some medical relief. I was told she was busy and that she said to take ibuprofen. The next day my ears still hurt even worse and were swollen and blistering. I sent a pic to my RN sister and she said to get to urgent care. I did and discovered I had a raging infection in both ears. After antibiotics and care they got better but I still have scars. I followed up with my primary doctor and he thought her treatment was extreme. Today I went for a full exam with a Harvard Med school dermatologist and she told me that it was completely unnecessary to have suggested freezing my lips and parts of my face and probably my ears. I wonder if the $1000 bill was Karen Han MDs motivation. I am filing a report today and a complaint and looking for an attorney. Something I should have done sooner. For your sake please avoid at all costs this butcher shop. I was so shaken driving home and in so much pain that I called my wife from the car sobbing and I am an ex marine.
Dr. Han has very limited knowledge to various laser treatments. Her Diagnose was off. I went to see Dr. Han for a 4mm benign blue vascular lesion on the right hand side of my nose last year. She has basically told me that there was nothing can be done for the 'angioma' (her diagnose). She has mentioned VBeam laser is for those cherry angioms on the skin surface. I was devastated after being told by her that there are no solutions for me. She told me to do nothing, of course, it's not on her nose!It was fruitless after two month research for a solution for the 'angioma' that I was diagnosed by her. I then went to a medical dermatologist who had diagnosed me with 'vascular lesion' deep in the skin, which I Googled the term and quickly found the ultimate the ultimate solutions to my vascular lesion. My own research has led me to Nd:YAG Laser (Wavelength 1064nm) or Alexandrite (Wavelength 755nm). I decided to go with Yag laser and I've found a competent dermatologist who had zapped the vascular lesion in about three minutes.
I've been seeing Dr. Han for 3 years. She went to Med school with my old SF doc, but when we moved down here, he recommended I see her. I had a kidney transplant 13 years ago, grew up at the beach, and have had numerous squamous cell carcinomas. I see Dr. Han 2 times/yr because of that. She's extremely knowledgeable and thorough during her exams. PAMF in general seems to pack the patients in, so if she seems sometimes hurried (like all the docs I've seen there - and I've seen a bunch), it's more because of how the facility runs its administration than a personality defect on her part. I am confident that she will catch any skin cancer that might pop up on me - if I don't notice it first. I highly recommend her for people with serious skin concerns.

I tried to schedule an appointment with Dr. Han and found that I had to wait a month to see her. At first I couldn't figure out why the wait was so long. So I figured I'd keep my appointment and try another doctor while I waited. This was a big mistake, this other doctor didn't have a clue and couldn't perform any treatments. Glad I kept my original appointment with Dr. Han. So, this past weekend I had my appointment.., I could see why Dr. Han was such a hot commodity in the dermatology world and why the wait to see her was so long.
My wife and I met Dr. Karen Han about 6 years ago after my wife was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma. I was in the middle of a year of researching the best practitioners around the country and around the world to help my wife survive. I probably spent 6-8 hours a day for nearly a year, looking high and low, to find whatever could help her win her battle. I am proud to say she is now 5 years cancer-free. I give you this background b/c I want you to know the strength from which my recommendation of Dr. Han comes from. My wife (and I) have been seeing her for the last 6 years and I can tell you she is one of my favorite doctors. What i love about Dr. Han is that she is very, very careful when she checks you out, and she is aggressive in terms of taking action (meaning, she err's on the side of taking suspicious moles and other issues seriously, rather than simply "waiting and seeing"). It is Dr. Han's meticulous attention to detail that helps me and my wife sleep at night knowing that we don't have to second-guess anything - that she is truly taking great care of us. On top of that, I have always found Dr. Han to be attentive, friendly, and patient-focused every time either my wife or I have seen her. In today's HMO-driven world of 5 minute appointments and doctors with attention spans of goldfish (or teenagers), Dr. Han is a breath of fresh air.
Dr. Han has been my doctor for about........15 years. I think. Since I only see her once a year or less I wouldn't expect her to remember me but she does. She always takes my concerns seriously and does a good painless job with the micro on the spot surgeries. I never have to wait for an appointment for more than a few minutes if that. Her nurses are nice, the facility doesn't feel like a hospital and they even have magazines to read while waiting. I assume if I don't hear back everything is good, which is always a big relief to me. Just called to make an appointment though and she's on sabbatical so will have to check yelp for an alternative doc.thanks yelp.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
