Kathryn Obana's Online Review Report Card

Dr Obana is the best ENT I have ever seen. I have seen a few ENTs in the last few years and she is more personable and knowledgeable.  She explains well and is compassionate and encouraging.

She is Very confident and competent!  Has a nice bedside manner and was accommodating to our schedule. Very thankful she was able to finally stop my husbands  nosebleed after 5 days and a visit to the ER.

Do not go to Dr. Obana for a tonsillectomy unless you fancy the idea of returning five years later when they grow back.  This happened to my daughter, followed by a bleedout that required emergency surgery 11 days after the second tonsillectomy.  Do your research and go to someone who has never performed a repeat tonsillectomy.  It is not standard procedure for an 18yearold female to have to undergo a second tonsillectomy five years later.

Dr. Obana along with another ENT has treated our family for a decade. She is warm, knowledgeable, respectful. She trusts my instincts as a mother (and our family history) to judge when her child is ill and needs to be examined. She does not overprescribe antibiotics but will prescribe them. And, unlike the stereotype of surgeons, she is the opposite of arrogant. With one of my children she recommended a pediatric ENT at Stanford for a complicated surgery, with my husband she explained the apnea surgery options and recommended a weight loss programme instead.

Shes been my ENT for 20 years, always fights for my best interests, does a great job troubleshooting challenging situations, and goes above/beyond to deliver great standards of care.

Surgery (tubes in ears) seemed to go well and Dr. Obana was very pleasant and professional at the preop meeting. Postop care... well, Dr. Obana hasnt shown up for any of our appointments yet. Im frustrated that on the first follow up appointment, after getting my daughter out of school and blocking off my work schedule, we waited for 20 minutes after the scheduled appointment time... and were then told that the doctor was not available, not even in the building, and we would have to repeat the process at a future date. We repeated the process; the doctor repeated the noshow; the staff repeated not informing us until we had been waiting in the office for a half hour. Now were being asked to come back a third time for our first appointment.I understand emergencies and doctors running behind schedule, but I found it very inconsiderate that we were not alerted to this cancellation beforehandtwice. Perhaps this is a staff problem and not unique to Dr. Obana, but we usually experience better service at PAMF. Because this has happened twice in a row (and weve only had two appointments) I would hesitate to recommend this doctor or location to anybody who has a job, kids in school, or a schedule to keep.

Dr. Obana is so friendly. I decided to let her do my sons surgery during the first time to see her (she was the 2nd doctor my son visited just to get 2nd opinion for his problem). She explained the problem that my son had so clearly and so well to both me and my son. She performed tonsillectomy was so smooth. I highly recommend Dr. Obana.

Dr. Obana is an eloquent communicator, and was thoroughly pleasant during my first visit to see her.  The Laryngoscopy she performed was painless and smooth.  I highly recommend Dr. Obana for your ENT needs.

Dr. Obana is so motherly and amiable that it almost feels like youre chatting with a friend rather than a doctor.  Really pleasant experience, regardless of the fact that she is sticking giant needles up your nose and liquifying your nostril tissue with microwaves.
