Dr. May is one of the finest therapists. I am still working with him, but am confident that he has all the skills that make an exceptional therapist and a great human being. I have made some progress, but am continuing to work with him to get in the best mental shape before I join my new job.

I chose Dr. May because he is a respected member of the TEAM CBT community. Despite charging enormous fees for his services, I found him to be an extremely poor therapist. He was highly disorganized and often did not remember what we had talked about in previous sessions. He was a terrible listener and said several things to me that were dismissive and/or borderline insulting. He also did not follow the TEAM model despite advertising himself as a Level 5 certified TEAM therapist. He asked for feedback after every session but was often defensive or dismissive when acknowledging it. I hugely regret going to him and would recommend that anyone looking for a TEAM therapist go elsewhere. There are a lot of excellent TEAM therapists who will provide you with better help for half the price.

Dr. Matthew May is a world-class psychotherapist who will help you to achieve the life you want by breaking down negative patterns of thinking and living. He is tremendously compassionate, kind and a great listener. If you want to really change your life for the better I would recommend this doctor above all others.

An expert in CBT, and Stanford Trained, Dr. Matt May is by far one of the most exceptional practitioners in the Bay Area of psychotherapy that I have met and relied these 35 years working as a psychotherapist. When I have needed guidance or genuine solace, his help is practical and gone beyond my expectations. His establishes immediate trust and safety with his warmth, his methodolgy. His practical effective approach and bedside manner are superlative. I highly recommend Dr. Matt May if you are looking for someone who is not only deeply kind hearted and empathetic, but who can help you to turn your life around and out wit long standing problems such as depression, anxiety ( such thoughts from perfectionism to I am not good enough andI can't handle this!) or habits, such as over eatting or procrastinating. Four stars cannot adequately capture what he does. He is the therapists' therapist. I only wish I had met him years ago!
