List of MIchael Gaynon's Reviews
I saw Dr. Gaynon as I was having issues with my retina (flashes of light). He was thorough, thoughtful and on the first visit, made a detailed diagnosis regarding a very rare and dangerous condition. This diagnosis was confirmed by the specialists who later treated me at UCSF. More importantly, Dr. Gaynon made a very efficient and quick referral to a specialist. He got me an appointment on a Friday morning when Gaynon saw me on Wednesday night. He ensured I had the in-take paperwork from the specialists' office and that they had everything they needed to see me within 48 hours. (The specialist was crazy busy and it seems a miracle I got in when I did.) Dr. Gaynon's kindness, attention to detail, correct diagnosis and skill likely saved my life, and certainly my vision.
I went to Dr. Gaynon after my optometrist found a spot on my retina during a routine exam. His diagnosis: Macular Degeneration and a yearly checkup. On my second visit, he told me that the scar has grown larger and he is not sure on the progress of the disease.<br> I decided get a second opinion from Mark Blumenkranz at Stanford. His diagnosis was that I had small capillary rupture in the back of my eye and the bleeding had stopped but the scar remained. I wish I had not gone to Dr. Gaynon and suffered for over a year!
Took time. Clear explanations. Answered all questions clearly and in a friendly, relaxed manner. Inspired confidence throughout visit. Offered useful advice re self-care that I had not been given by other doctors.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
